Wrong time!

Post by children »

Hi Tammy,

I went for the scan this morning; the nurse told me that my appointment was at 10:30 am. I arrived at 8:30 am as usual; I thought it was at 8:30 am. She said, we do these types of scans after 10 am. From 7:00 am to 10 am time frame, it is reserved for ivf treatment. Look, I belong to a different category now, I did not know.

I woke up every hour last night with weird dreams. In one of the dreams, I saw one crying baby who was separated with me. I could not know why this baby was already all grown! I have been very nervous since last night, in the mean time, I am very proud that I did not call my RE in the last 10 days. I patiently waited, finally, today, I should see something.

I will update the scan in two hours, take care!

Hi all, and Hi Tammy, thanks for asking about me. Yes, I am fine, just still feeling queezy (no actual sickness) and really really tired. I haven't been around much the last few days as I don't really have much conversation, all I have been doing is resting and eating. Also DH is now on his summer holidays, so he sees how much time I spend on the pc and frowns at me from time to time, so am trying to limit myself.

Is your scan Friday Tammy? I think I remember rightly, so good luck with that. How are you feeling in yourself?

Yasmina, looking forward to reading about your scan result soon.

Cax, glad you had a good time in Sri Lanka, we will keep everything crossed for your next try in September.

Hi and welcome to Ann-Marie. I can understand you being nervous about your first cycle, let's hope that you are one of the lucky ones and are successful with your first attempt. When are you starting your treatment? Good luck with it.

Well, it seems a bit quiet on this thread at the moment, with only a few of us actively posting. Hope everyone else is still popping in from time to time, so hi to anyone that sees this.

Bev:

So glad to hear that you are doing well, besides the queezy feelings. You are right, my scan is Friday at 9:00 am. I am anxious. I have not had any queezy feelings, thus far. I am very tired though and have had very sore breasts.

Yasmina:

I am nervous about my scan too. Let us know how your first scan comes out. Good luck.

first scan

Post by children »

Hi ladies,

We had our first scan and we saw one heartbeat at a rate of 134/min, the baby size is 11.3 mm at 7w2d. My RE met us after the scan and asked us to come back two weeks later to determine the likelihood of miscarriage. I am glad that my RE is not the over-optimistic kind. He told us if the baby grows normally which will be seen at next time’s sono, he then can predict the mc rate is less than 10%. But now, it is still too early to tell.

Anyway, after seeing one heartbeat, my husband is relieved, he was overwhelmed by my morning sickness and thinking there must have been more than one baby down there.

We have decided to tell our close friends now but still hold the news from our parents. We decided to wait for another two weeks.

My clinic will keep me up to mid of August, but I was sent to some labs to give 40 mls of blood and some urine samples for a panel of tests after my scan. They said these various tests are needed for my future ob. I will be sent off to some perinatologist for testing other risk factors, such as Down syndrome, two weeks later.

Lastly, my medication can only decreased slowly after next scan. I am keeping the same amount of meds until 9 weeks.

Oh, about the intercourse, I did it again with orgasm, no harm found, did not hurt anymore. I also swam rigorously last weekend, I can not help it, it is better than sex to me. I did swimming once two weeks before that, but less rigorously, because it was earlier and I was more cautious then. My RE encourages swimming and walking, I practiced some yoga also, planning to resume it once a week from now on.

I guess that covers everything.

Tammy, I know how hard it is to wait, but it is worth of every minute! You will see a strong heartbeat but then you will be in the waiting line again for another two weeks. The waiting in the future will be longer too. Aren’t we all anxious!

Bev, glad that you are doing fine. Your second scan is coming up, keep us posted!

Hi ladies,

Remember me? I have been checking in when I can to catch up on news but haven’t been posting much lately. I don’t seem to have had much time and have been doing what you (can) do when between roller coaster rides. For example, last weekend 15 Brits flew in for a stag night party. DH is best man at a friend’s wedding in London so we got to organize a fun-packed weekend which included hiking in the Alps, sunbathing, world cup, Biergarten, a pub crawl and playing a few silly tricks on the groom-in-waiting. I was engaged as a minibus driver as DH couldn’t find a German to volunteer to drive a group of drunken British lads around for a weekend. No, actually for Brits they were very well behaved and I did really enjoy my first stag night.

It’s so good to read about you mums-to-be chatting away on this thread. Tammy, Bev and Jasmina: congratulations again to you all! It puts a smile to my face every time I think about your sixth sense, Jasmina. It’s been quite an emotional time but I’m sure you’ll all do very well despite all the little worries which continue.

Anna: I do hope you’re doing OK. I really admire your strength and to be honest you are the reason I joined the board. I started reading your thread “No follies from stimming” after my first cycle was cancelled. Hope you will be checking in on us again soon.

Lisa: how are you, DH and little Mia getting on? Keeping my fingers crossed that she stays with you. Do keep us posted.

If anyone manages to dig out our list maybe you could add Ann-Marie and myself to be starting treatment soon. I’ll be looking for an August test thread to join but it would be great if you could cheer me on a bit too…

AF is due tomorrow and has been showing signs of coming for the last week which is a bit strange. I’ve been spotting since last Thursday but am praying that AF will not be too early or too late. I’m due for the first scan on cycle day 7 and we’ve got flights booked for the wedding in London in about 10 days time. DH is best man so we can’t not go and I haven’t the nerve to postpone treatment another cycle either. So keep your fingers crossed for me that I’ll be stimming by the weekend and that dates don’t end up clashing. Hoping flying out to London in the middle of stimming won’t be too much action either. Any thoughts on this anyone?

Hi to everyone else around on this very special thread.

Yasmina:

That is wonderful news!!!!!!!! I can't wait until my scan on Friday. You are better at keeping things under wraps than I am. I have told all immediate family and some very close friends. I was hoping to tell more people after the first scan.............now I may wait for the 2nd scan. :( How can you stand not telling your parents?

Son:

Glad to hear from you. It sounds like you have been busy! Good luck on your upcoming cycle.

Regards,
Tammy

Son, I am so jealous of you to hike in the Alps! I spent my last few vacations in the Alps and boy, I miss the cheeses there! There were people biking on the Alps when I hardly could breath while hiking, I do not know how they are so fit in such high altitude. I skied in the Alps last Christmas and I guess I won’t be doing that for a while now. Enjoy while you can!

Yea, I told my husband about Tammy's miracle also, he is typically pragmatic kind but he did not say anything disagreeable about my “sixth sense” which he knows that I do not possess. I guess, deep down, I have never believed absolute infertility myself. After my first ivf failure, I have read a lot of reports and papers discussing infertility, I am amazed by how often you read about diet, massage, acupuncture, yoga etc help to conceive. I regretted so much that I had not read anything like that before I’d started to try! I had simply acted like a typical patient, paid the Dr. to create miracle. After the first modern technology failed the first time, I could not accept anything “unexplained” anymore. Tammy’s profile does not fit anything called “infertility” anyway, so that was an easy and lucky guess for me.

Tammy, if I were you, I would have told everyone in the world that I know also. It is something to be proud of and you do not have much risk because it happened naturally with a high beta number! Tomorrow, 24 hours later, you will see your little heartbeat, I will be looking forward your update!

In our case, both our parents are far away from us, we need to make international calls to announce the news and we only make such phone calls once a week. As long as they are not asking, we are not telling, for now. We are (I am, mainly) too scared to disappoint them, if anything happens later. None of our colleagues knows at all about that we are trying with ivf. I told my lawyer and all my internet friends, one person that I met at the same clinic who does not speak to me anymore after finding out that I am moving next month – yea, we are selling our house now and moving away from TX next month. Only yesterday, my husband started to tell our friends. Two more weeks, as you can see, I am spending all my time writing – I am in the waiting line again!

Hello all

Sorry I haven't been around but I too have been in the Alps (French rather than German) for a few days - beautiful weather and beautiful scenery.
DH is there for 2 weeks mountain biking like the people Yasmina mentioned, I just went out for a few days over my birthday weekend and it was lovely.

It's lovely to see so much good news on here, it's been a while... perhaps one day I'll have a miracle natural pregnancy and surprise everyone! Unlikely, but I can dream....!

Speak soon
Lots of love

Yasmina:
I can totally understand about not telling your parents yet. I see my parents several times a week, so it would be difficult to keep the news a secret. If the results of our scan are normal and we can see the heartbeat, we will probably tell more people. I am still a little paranoid though.

Kat:
Happy belated birthday :!:
You are quite the traveler. It sounds like a wonderful trip. I've never been to the Alps. The closest I came was to the pre-alps in northern Italy. It is georgous there! You may be our next miracle. You never know. I guess that I just needed my pipes cleaned out. Remember that I had that HSG x-ray just prior to getting pregnant. Supposedly, it increases pregnancy rates for a couple of cycles following the procedure.

Bev:
Thanks for the note. I can't wait until tomorrow morning. I will post the results, once I get home from my scan.

Take care all,
Tammy

I just got home from the doctor's office. I could see the little embie and the heartbeat!! It was amazing! I got a little emotional. We video taped the scan and we have some photos of our baby. Yasmina: There is just one. We are very excited. The nurse said that everything looks good. Of course we have to wait until the next scan to make sure the little guy/girl is growing, etc.
