new to IVF!-1st injection 1st August!!

Post by Vickie »

Hello Everyone

I am new to the messge boards so don't really have a clue what i'm doing!!

I am just about to begin my 1st IVF attempt and take the 1st Buserilin inj on 1st August - really scared!!

At the mo I have been taking the BCP since the 23rd June and have not stopped bleeding since - i'm really worried about this, I've read that some people react like this when they start taking the pill for the 1st few months - is this right, has anyone had a similar experience??
I'm panicking that this isn't normal and am worried that if my body is reacting this way to the BCP that i'm gonna be awful on the drugs??!

My EC is scheduled for w/c 29th Aug and i'm just praying that'll everything will be ok so i can go ahead?!

I'm really sorry but i don't know any of the little code names yet - but i'll learn!

I'd love to join in on all ur discussions and share experiences!!

Lots of love and best wishes for everyone

Thank-you so much for your support and I am so pleased that it worked 1st time for you, lets just hope that I can get the same result!!!

Yes, I am getting exciting but i just can't help thinking how hard its going to be if it doesn't work!

My biggest dread of the whole thing is the 2WW!

Did you ever consider it not working and did everything go smoothly for you??

Thanx for your reply

hi there
yes of course we thought that it wouldnt work to be honest we probably never really believed that it would work for us ever!!
the chances are so small and you hear so many horror storiesof how much it does hurt when it doesnt work
but its something we had to do and its the same for you and for every1 going through this
theres a slim chance but theres a chance
to be honest with you i have been watching the results coming through on here day after day month after month and its about a 50 50 spit possitives and negatives so if you think you gotta 50% chance of it working then thats pretty good odds i think
the 2ww is hard and you really must make sure u hav at least 3 days total bed rest after et (embryo transfer) i did that only got out of bed for the loo
you gotta be sure that you are giving yourself the best chance
we have our fingers crossed for you that you will get lucky first time like we did
we really cannot beleive how lucky we hav been and still to this day dont fully understand that we are going to hav a baby
anyway better be going for now
take care and keep in touch

Thanks for filling me in, u were so lucky and hopefully we will be too! I am just finding the wait to have the 1st inj is sooo hard, it seems to be going so slow, I'm just waiting for it to start!!!

Did u have to go on the BCP before u started the injections?? I am really having probs on it!! Still bleeding (almost a month now, getting headaches and feel sick!) - Not nice, getting v. annoying now!, its making the wait longer and i'm worrying that i'm not going to bleed when i stop taking the pill on the 1st Aug coz wheres it all coming from??!

Love 2 u and ur bump

Hiya,
Sandra, it is so cool that we're gonna b goin this for the 1st time just a few days apart, we'll b able 2 share how we're getting on - i'd love 2 keep in touch!!

Charlie, by BCP i mean contraceptive pill, i'm from south devon in england ( the south-west) but i got the 'short name' from the boards - i thought it sounded a bit american but didn't know its not wot every1 calls it. i haven't got a clue!!!

Neway, i did mean the pill, I've been put on Microgynon - did u have 2 take it at all b4 u started???

Sorry 4 the confusion!!

Lots of love Vickie x x x

Oral contraceptive pills (OCP), usually called "birth control pills" (BCP), are commonly used and very effective in getting control of the menstrual cycle before IVF. Many patients are surprised when their fertility doctor prescribes OCP.

My guess is that, within 10 or 20 years, they will also start to use anti-progestins during stimulation to get better control of the endometrial development, especially in high-responders. Initial experiments have been promising. This will be even more startling to patients, because anti-progestins are currently known as "the morning after pill" or "the abortion pill".

These are all tools the Reproductive Endocrinologist might use to control hormones in their patients. As a screwdriver may be used to either assemble or disassemble something, these tools can be used to either promote or remove a pregnancy. Of course, they must be carefully timed to get the correct effect.
