Wonderful Heartbeat, Yippee!!!

Post by children »

:D :D :D :D Well done, Tammy, now you can celebrate your first victory by telling as many people as possible, how great! What is the size of your little baby now? Is this still relevant parameter for natural pregnancy? How about the beating rate?

I was less emotional than my DH when we saw the heartbeat, only I shouted hey, a tiny heart here, then I found my husband jumped over (he was sitting far away and being calm) and staring at the screen with a big smile on his face!

So, Bev, you will be the next to keep us posted. I guess Lisa2 and Nuala have been way ahead of us now.

I had done several more things after my first scan:

1) Decreased progesterone suppository from 100 mg to 50 mg per night, because I can not stand the leaky mess anymore. My RE does not like it, even though my P4 level was at 57, way higher than 20 which is required to keep the baby safe, but I did it anyway.

2) Did not take estrace pill yesterday, because high level of estrogen keep me awake at nights - I decided myself not to take the pill on the day when I change new patches.

3) Went swimming again last night and this time, I went a little overboard and I had a lot of scary dreams about the baby last night.

4) Read a lot of jokes from the internet.

5) Initiated many times of sex, never finished any!

6) Called my ex-boyfriend who has three kids and one grand kid, not much help, because all the kids were conceived and born naturally and normally!

7) Still trying to book tickets to Vancouver for this year's vacation.

Kat, can not see you in the Alps anymore this year. I normally stay at the French side of the Alps also. I love the villages there and I love the scenery, of course. I will never bike, though; I need air to survive there, whew! My DH used to bike in the Alps also when he was under intense training for triathlon. He is so unfit now and he suffers each time to see others pass us on their bikes when we are in these beautiful mountains. He blames on my cooking! Ha ha ha!

Bye for now, have a nice weekend,

Yasmina

The nurse took 2 different measurements. One was 6.3 mm and the other was 5.6 mm. She said it measured like a baby 6 weeks 2 or 3 days old. I was guessing that I was 6 weeks 6 days. But, I'm not exactly sure on ovulationl. She said that was definitely in the range. I did not get the heart rate, since my doctor's machine does not have the capability to show the beats per min, but you could definitely see it beating.

Tammy

About the baby size

Post by children »

Tammy, I asked your numbers because I had little doubt about your baby's age. I remember I had commented on one of the previous posters that Bev's baby is a week older than mine, mine is one week older than yours. I could not argue with a mathematician (joking, here) when you said that our babies could be close. As you said, your ovulation date was not monitored, no one knows for sure. Let's see two weeks later.

My ex told me for natural cycle people, all they do are 1) preg test; 2) put you on prenatal vitamins if positive is confirmed. They won't scan you until 3 months' preg. Natural preg women only go to see ob once per month, but not get scanned every time. So, I am guessing their baby books must not as complicated as the ones of us ivfers. You are double blessed, have your close monitoring like other ivfers! You will have 1st heartbeat, 2nd heartbeat, and something something that I have not known yet. I have already had 8-cell embryos, 16 positive stickers, transfer u/s scan with a full bladder and first heartbeat u/s scan. I am collecting more to make my baby pay back, if s/he upsets me later!

Off the ticket searching now. Take care,

Y

Yes, my second scan should give me a better handle on my exact age and due date. It looks like I could be off by 3 to 4 days.

Beleive it or not, my RE said that my baby could be a few days off, so he was reluntant to give my projected due day. He said, "I will double check with my girls, sometimes they can be few days off, with due days." How could that be, they knew exact day of my transfer! It was written 2/26/07 (due day). I have no clue whether I should believe it. My period is longer than 28 days, it runs like 2~3 month, then 35 days, and then 33 days. I never had period during ivf meds (after 1 month birth control pill, normal people would have some bleeding, I have none!). So, I guess I am non-bleeding kind. If I had a natural pregnancy, i won't know how to calculate the due day myself. I figure, it will come when it is ready.

We finally got our tickets to Vancouver, it will be 7/25 ~ 8/31, after that, I will take few days off to pack also. We are moving to TN and that could be fun, because I was told we would need to go DC or Chicago by plane for grocery shoppings or for good restaurants. Yet, the housing is 5x more expensive than where I am now.

Well, house showing will start soon, bye for now!

Hi everyone

We have just returned from a short break in Majorca to find this thread very exciting and busy. It is lovely to see so many happy postings.

Anna I guess your taking a break from us at the moment but my thoughts are with you.

Lisa so sorry to hear about Zia. Mia seems to be coming on in leaps and bounds though.

Bev we are taking a break from IVF at the moment but plan to go to Kiev in the near future for DE.

Would have liked to try once more with my eggs but as time isnt on my side we are going to take the bull by the horns.

Well tired from travel so will drop in again to see how you are all doing.

Regards
Gail

Gail:
I'm glad to hear that you and DH will be doing another cycle.

Bev:
Regarding the sex question that you had posted previously, sex is great during the first trimester. We had sex last night and had no problems at all.

Take care all,
Tammy

To what part of Tennessee are you moving? We like the Gatlinburg area, which is in the Smokey Mountains. We went there last year for a mini family vacation.

Hi everyone!

We're just back from Lake Constance where we spent most of the weekend sailing. It's so totally relaxing, like being on holiday. But all the same I will have to cut out on the watersports for a while again

It's great to feel such positive vibes on this thread, it's doing us all so good. :D :D :D

Tammy, congratulations. I'm so pleased that everything is going well for you. Great that you could have some photos and a video too.

I've started off stimming again this weekend as AF did arrive on time on Friday. The first big hurdle will be the scan on Thursday. We're going for quality again this time.

Another PREG Woman

Post by children »

Today is a funny day, our friends invited us for our farewell party. To my biggest surprise, our woman host answered the door with a huge belly. Than she exchanged a lot of ideas about how much work is waiting for us, and what kinds of exams to be done and when to do them once other guests were gone…. I felt safer after that. She told me that she did not tell anybody her pregnancy until the amniocentesis was done and confirmed everything was ok. She is 42 and naturally pregnant with her second child who is going to be 7 years younger than the first one.

I was told once a heartbeat is established; it is quite unlikely that we will have a mc. However, knowing so many examples of mc at later stages, I can not stop worrying. I am quite optimistic about almost everything else but this one. After the visit, we decided to wait even longer to tell our parents.

Tammy, we are moving to Nashville. It is greener than TX and quite beautiful since the city has a river running thought and many state parks for hiking within the city. However, we never found any good sized shopping centers nor good grocery stores. We had job offers from UBC at Vancouver where we are guaranteed for good food whichever restaurants we go, but I turned down – I am now living in a fear of that my husband will never excuse me for dragging him to TN instead of following him to Canada. I was told that the smoky mountain is at driving distance, but I have not been there yet. We will need more vacation times to make a trip there. Are you coming to the music city any time soon, if you are, be sure to drop me a note and I promise you some fun times, at least home cooking meals once I will find a place to do my grocery shopping, gee!

Since I do not know how to do shorter posters anymore, I am going to stop for a while to let others speak. So, do not worry if you gals have not seen me for a while. I will post the update of my second scan, of course.

Yasmina:
Are you going to have the 1st trimester genetic screening? I have mine set up for week 11. They do a blood test and ultrasound to see if your chances of having a baby with genetic abnormalities increases or decreases. I guess if the tests come back with an increased risk of downs, etc, they will offer amnio. I am very reluctant to have amnio, as I have heard of women having miscarriages right after amnio. It does carry a 0.5 - 1.0 % change of miscarriage.

If we are in the Nashville area, we will be sure to touch base with you. If you are ever around Bloomington, IN, let me know. Our town is not that big, but with Indiana University being here, there is always a lot going on.

Tammy

One of my good friends at work told me today he is going to be a dad.
He has only been with his girlfriend a few months and they weren’t trying for a baby.

He wanted to tell me before he told anyone else because he knows my history and has been really understanding over the past couple of years. So that was a really kind thing to do.

I reacted really badly, just burst into tears. Now I just keep welling up at my desk and have to got o the loo to hide. I surprised myself with how badly I reacted. It has really knocked me off balance.

Does this mean whenever a friend announces a pregnancy I will react like this? Was it just the shock of something so unexpected? I am fine about the girl at work who is not a friend who is about 5 months pg, I just avoid her whenever possible so I don’t have to see her. She is someone I really don’t have anything to do with so it hasn’t affected me. So I have led myself to believe I am over it, I am fine, I can handle people being pregnant. Ha! How wrong I was - obviously I can't handle it at all when it comes to close friends.

I feel really selfish because he is really excited, although finding it all quite scary.

Will I ever stop being like this do you think? Will I cry every time a friend announces a pregnancy? Until when? When I'm past menopause?

I want to go home and have a big hug from DH but I won’t get home ‘til late.

Sorry to be so down on such a beautiful sunny day.
Kat xx

Kat,

I'm so sorry to hear that you are having a bad day today. The fact that your friend was not even trying to get pregnant made it all the worse for you. We try so hard and we can't get pregnant, others are not even trying and then get pregnant. Maybe you should take off of work a little early and go home to DH.

Mags48:
Welcome to our site.
We have had ladies going to two different countries for donor eggs. There is a clinic in Kiev, Ukraine which has helped several of our over 40 crowd. There is also a clinic in Spain that several of the ladies have gone to as well.

Regards,
Tammy
