I am new to this forum and to IVF. IS this a good place to ask questions about the process?

Hello Sam
This is a really wonderful place to come and get information on real womens stories about what has happened to them! You can get great advice and I would advise you to join a cycle budies board so you can go through this with many other wonderful women that are in the same time in their cycle as you are. I just finished my first round of icsi and ivf and got blessed with a BFP!!!!! I hope that you get your dream!

Here are some of my questions

Post by samandaw1 »

Wow, congrats on the sucess. I wish all the same to EVERYONE!

I have been on Luprin for 12 days and on Menopur and another one for three days. THe menopur HURTS incredible. Am I just senstive to that or do most people experiece that pain?

My other questions is all my blood work and ultra sounds are coming back great. Is that typical or does that increase my chances of success? I thought it was a good sign but reading the forums I never realized how many people tried unsuccessfully with IVF. My husband and I are doing ICSI. Don't know if that makes a difference with our success rate

Hello

And good luck with your IVF. I have heard ICSI is good but haven't been through it myself.
I was on menopur and conceived naturally with that. I didn't find it painful really unless I injected in my belly. Tops of my legs were the easiest and least painful. Do you have the injection pen as that makes it very quick and not too sore?

Thank you for the responses. I did not know I could put Menupur in my leg. I have been putting the Luprin and the Folistem in my leg and menupur in my stomach. So am I hearing correctly, can I switch them?

hi again

just check with your doctor to make sure all is the same with IVF as I didn't go through IVF and I was only on menopur. I can't see why you can't do it in your leg but like I said, please check with your doctor first. If its just a subcutaneous injection, you should be able to do it in your belly, legs, bum... ! I did it in my arm once and that hurt even more!

I don't know about the other injections, I have never had them.

I did find it much more painful in my stomach, I think because its so much softer there...........well it is on me! the skin on my legs is tougher so it didnt hurt much.

good luck

Hello Again
We did the ICSI and it really does increase your chances of fertilization. We had 6 eggs and 6 sperm from aspiration and all of them fertilized with the ICSI. I was so thankful. I thought that the Menopur hurt as well. It was stingy. It sounds like things are going along well for you-good luck!

It worked for us.

I had to instruct my doctor that we wanted ICSI. It ups your chances when you only have a limited supply of eggs. We only had four and with ICSI, three of them fertilized. I would like to think they would have fertilized anyway but you never know.

And the way I think about it is that with such a limited supply of eggs I would have been devestated if none of them fertilized.
