Progestrone and Estrogen - Questions. Please help

Hi wonderful moms and soontobe moms,

Hope you can answer my question. By god's grace I am in my 10W5D week of pregnancy. My blood test reports from Monday the levels they say are normal. Prog - 81.7 and Estrog - 1240. So they have asked me to reduce my estradiol tablets from 8mg to 2mg per day, stop the PIO shots and just continue with the Prog vag 2 times a day for 1 week. After 1 week I am supposed to stop everything.

So does the above sound ok. Hope I will be fine after stopping my PIO and reducing the estrace.

Can you please share your experience on this one and when did you all stop the medications.

I was on 1/2 cc prog in oil injections until week 11 (was told I could stop at week 10 but used up the rest of what I had). I wasn't on estrogen pills but was on estrogen patches from ET until 1st scan which was until end of week 7. I quit cold turkey with both. I don't know about my estrogen level but my progesterone level was really high (120) so that's why i was only on 1/2 cc. I think the placenta starts naturally producing its own hormones between week 10-11 (note 100 pecent sure on that) so sounds like you should be fine!! Good luck with your pregnancy!

I was not on estrogen in any form, after et..
And the progesterone I took until week 12- combination of shots(1 per week after week and pessaries(vaginal). I was asked to reduce the pessaries slowly(sort of weaning off) and then stop by week 12..

Hi,

I was on estradiol tabs up till about 8 wks (my E2 was at abt 2000, doc said it's ok so long as it's above 1000).

As for the progesterone shots, they were reduced from daily to every other day from wk 10, and completed stopped by wk 11. (P4 level was about 90) Progesterone vag gel was also stopped in wk 11...

So from my experience, I think the advice you were given is ok... all the best!

I followed a protocol of 400mg progesterone twicw daily and 2 estradiol patches everyother day up till 11 weeks. Then I had one patch for 3 days (I think) and the progesterone came down slowly (400 once a day for 3 days then 200mg for 3 days)

They never checked my levels at all, this was the protocol followed by everyone. When I called to double check which day I started to reduce the meds they weren't concerned by a couple of days either way. I was treating it like text book instuctions to be followed at all costs!!!!!

Hi all,
Thanks all for your replies. Actually I am in 9W6D today not 10W. I finish my 10W today and start week 11 tommorrow. So am weaning off too. Next Wednesday when I will be 105D I will be stopping all the meds.

I guess pretty most everybody shares more or less the same protocol. Hope my body produces enough of those when I stop these.

HI sweetie

if you are still concerned, you can om me and I'll email you my reduction protocol. I took my PIO shots and oestrogen up to 16 weeks as I have immune thyroiditis and althought my levels were good they wanted to ensure there were no reactions against the placental hormones so we reduced very slowly. Sounds like UR in good hands though - most clinics dont even monitor levels before reduction.
