I am new to this board. I just had my transfer yesterday and was really sad. I had 11 eggs retrieved and only 3 made it. One was a fragmented 4 cell, one was 6 cell, and the other 8 cell. The docs said that my dh's sperm was poor for some reason. usually it is fine but we just found out a fever that he ran for 2 weeks prior could have caused poor quality. Because so few fertilized does anyone know if that correlates with the ability of the ones left to implant? Just curious if any of you had success with just a few eggs fertilizing out of a big batch. I turn 39 next month and I know time is ticking away. Thanks for listening.

Hi Gigi-
I'm new to all this too, so unfortunately I don't have any info for you, but I wanted to respond because you sound so sad.
How many eggs did the doc transfer?
Keep in mind that they wouldn't have transferred any at all if the chances were not good. It only takes ONE to make it!
Do things to keep your mind off it all (I know - IMPOSSIBLE!) and know others are rooting for you!

I wanted to reassure you that you can definitly get a BFP with the embryos you have transfered.. At ER i too had 11 eggs and only 5 fertilized but only 3 were good quality to transfer., we also had a sperm issues that were dealt with icsi.. we transfered all three and guess what im currently pregnant with triplets! Keep you faith and stay positive!
With that 8-cell in the mix, I'd say you have pretty good chances.
A paper coming out soon will argue that the optimal number of oocytes for achieving pregnancy in a fresh non-donor cycle is 13. You were very close to that.
I had similar results as you. I had 12 eggs and only 3 made it too. They transferred all three and I'm now pregnant with twins! So keep positive. Good luck!
