Hi Everyone - how are you all??

Well, good news from the clinic. They have frozen 5 of our embies, and of the 4 that they were culturing, all were at or above the stage where they were expected to be yesterday.

I am borderline hyperstimulated at the moment, but no more than they were expecting for 16 eggs apparently. I feel quite bloated and a little sore, so am just taking it easy and following their instructions to the letter.

I have started the progesterone, and am just thinking happy baby thoughts. I can't wait for ET tomorrow, and strongly suspect that the 2WW will be the longest weeks of my life!

Re your Q Em, I was told the same thing (I was 31 in June), and they kept my Gonal F dose very low. I was scanned almost every other day, and given Metformin when it looked like I had too many follies growing. It seemed to keep everything under control pretty well. Hopefully this IUI will work for youand you won't have to worry about it at all!

How are you feeling Annette? Hope your bub isn't giving you too much trouble.

Not long for you now Bella and BelB. Getting closer all of the time. I bet you can't wait to meet your little poeple.

How is London Tiger - my cousin has said the exact same as you - very hot and stuffy at the moment!

Lots of PMA and good wishes to you all, I'm off to think happy sticky baby thoughts!

Am very excited for you Suzanne. Good luck tomorrow. Have you decided how many embryos you will have transferred? We agonised over that one- some clinics have different policies and it is also dependent on your age. I hope you body is doing okay and you are getting lots of rest. I know they say to really keep the fluids up to minimise risk of OHSS. 2WW will definitely feel like an eternity- so hopefully you will have lots of things to distract you.

Fortunately, I'm not suffering from any morning sickness or queeziness (sp?)- I didn't have any with our first so I wasn't too surprised. Just making lots of trips to the bathroom- bladder is always feeling full. No wild and crazy cravings yet too. We go in for a 6-week scan (part of the clinic's procedure) so we will know whether or not one or more babies are in the oven (it's a possibility due to the clomid). I think there's another scan at 12 weeks which is usually the official time that most people share the news (ie. first trimester over) and another at 20 weeks.

I hope everyone is keeping well. Thank God we had some sunshine today- it was such a warm welcome to all the rain and cold weather we've been getting lately (obviously not a problem with the heatwave in London!)

Hi Everyone.

Our transfer went really well yesterday. 2 great blastocysts now on board, and as our lovely doc says, I'm technically pregnant now, just gotta make em stick.

Crossing my fingers, and keeping a PMA. 13 days till testing!

How is everyone else?

Congratulations Suzanne- that's great news! Also nice to know that you were able to freeze as well. Will keep my fingers crossed for you. Good luck!

We had an early 6-week scan today and were able to see our little blob. Amazing that we could hear the heartbeat and see the heart pulsing. Was great to know that everything is proceeding well and we were also able to confirm that there's only one bub there (we were secretly hoping for twins!).

Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi guys,
Sorry about the low profile from me at present, I am working full time for two weeks to cover one of my colleagues who is on a conference in Sydney. I finish up on Friday for Qhealth and then just my part time private stuff after that to keep my brain buzzing..means not much down time for the computer.

Quicky messages:

Tiger, a hot summer sounds lovely at present. Is cold here and a bit miserable. Enjoy your time away, you'll look back fondly once you have you're babies and enjoy the time you've had one on one with your hubby (you'll also really love having kids too I just know it!!!!)

Em, sorry to hear that AF is on the way, I know it means you can get the ball rolling again but gee she's a bit of a cow isn't she??

Annette, great news about the scan, and yep, one beany is a blessing, you just really do want one healthy happy bub which it sounds like you're well on your way to getting. Congratulations!. Any thoughts re. your obstetric care yet??

Hey Suzanne, great news about two blastys transferred, and more in the freezer..well done you!!..Am definately sending postive vibes your way. Blasytocyte trainfers have such a good outcome.I just know you'll have some good news for us soon..

We're all well here, Annie is having some quality time with Johnie while I'm working and I've got to say she's loving it..being particualrly spoilt of course!!..Annie has a hearing test on Thursday after her run of ear infections (I pushed for it 'cause I'm a tad stressy as a mother..have you guessed???)

Thanks Bel - we are hoping and hoping for a BFP too.

I have been really tired the last few days and my breasts are really sore (sorry if TMI!), so hopefully these are all good signs?

This 2WW is going to drag on forever!

DH and I were chatting last night, adn I jokingly said to him that if our dr has a 40% sucess rate with blast transfers, and he transferred 2, then surely that gives us an 80% success rate??

OK, so maybe not, but I reckon you've gotta get your PMA where you can find it huh!

Have a great day everyone.

Hi guys just a quicky to let you know that AF is here, right on queue. So it begins again. I start Clomid on sunday, so will be teary all next week and will need your help.

Good luck Suzanne, sore breasts is an excellent sign!

Good luck for this cycle Em - I have everything crossed for a BFP for you this time around!

Also I meant to say how pleased I was that your scan went well Annette! I understand what you mean about secretly hoping for twins. In spite of them telling us how much higher the risks are for twins, DH and I would both be thrilled if both of our little blasts decided to stay around for the full 9 months!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Suzanne,
Tiredness and sore breast are all positive- let's hope it means everything's on track. Be careful not to overanalyse though, 'cause you can drive yourself crazy! I remember on my 2ww after the transfer I was reading things into everything. 80% odds sounds pretty good to me though- I don't see any flaws in that argument! BTW, all the stuff I've read on 5 day blastocysts vs 3-day embies increases your odds. Reason being is that as it's survival of the fittest, the ones that have lasted 5 days are more likely to be survivors. Keep up the positive thoughts! Not long to go and you'll know.

Thanks for all the lovely comments re the scan. Although we were secretly hoping for twins, we are incredibly happy with one. We are dying to tell our little girl but want to wait a little longer. I had a very cute conversation with her today: she asked me if i remembered seeing our friend in hospital (who had a baby about 4 months ago), I told her yes and that's the hospital near where I go sometimes for blood tests (ie. IVF clinic). Then she said, "We don't have a baby now do we? But you're trying." I asked her if she wanted a brother or sister and she said adamantly "A sister!" and I told her maybe some time soon, she might have one.

I have to say though, she's going to grow up having some weird ideas about how babies are made- as she knows when I was going in to the hospital and taking shots, or reading my temperature in the mornings etc. it was for trying to make a baby. She was even there one time when I had my IUI transfer-holding my hand. She often asks me 'Who made such and such?" So she's definitely curious- also about death- was asking me today if traffic lights died ????

On the topic of obstetric care, I've already worked out my OB who is the same doctor i saw as a GYN a year and a half back. He's a lovely man, returns calls personally and was very patient in answering all our questions. I figured that since we forked out all this money on IVF this year and already hit the threshold, I might as well use a good OB. It's worth calling around though- fortunately the way he works out his billing (and because we've hit the Medicare threshold), we will only be out of pocket $700 (including all visits and delivery, ex. any anethesist) vs another doctor I called who would have been over $2100 out of pocket.

Bel, I hope everything goes well for Annie's tests. It's so hard to see little ones sick. Hopefully there's a solution that will work for her and get rid of the ear problems. You must be relieved to finish up work- when it's that full on, it's really hard to enjoy work and motherhood because it feels like you are never quite fulfilling your obligations and all the things you want/need to do on both sides.

Em, good luck with this next IUI. Am keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you! Just a Q for you- with your unexplained infertility- do you have periods that are all over the place or are you pretty regular? If your periods are irregular, I know that the Chinese herbs and accupuncture had an instant effect for me- from being all over the place and a long cycle- 32 days + down to 28/29 days. If you ever decide to take a break and try naturally again before any IVF decisions- there's an excellent book that helps to really understand how your body works and pinpointing ovulation- "Natural Fertility" by Francesca Naish. According to the book, if you have a long cycle, sometimes it can be hard to conceive as the egg is sometimes too old by the time it is in the fertilisation window.

Tiger and Bella, what have you been up lately? I hope you are all well.

Enough rambling. Good night guys!

His guys,

Well work is finally finished for me (the Qld Health side of what I do anyway!!) and I have to say I am quite relieved. We had lots of staff away during the two weeks I worked so I was hugely busy and really was quite proud of myself that I lasted as well as I did without having to take any time off! My colleagues are lovely actually, I'm going to quite miss them, and miss the stimulation of work again for a while, but obviously also really looking forward to haing my two girls to take care of.

We're all doing well. Annie had her ears tested by an Audiologist the other day and passed with flying colours, so hopefully our ENT consult next week will go swimmingly as well. I've kind of had in the back of my mind that they might recommend grommets but think maybe that this won't be the case now which is great. The thought of my little girl needing surgery is just too scarey to contemplate. I am 34 weeks pregnant now, so about 4 and a half weeks until my c-section. I'm keeping really well and just love my obstetrician. He is incredibly caring and gentle and kind, I'm very lucky to have him on board.

Annette, that's lovely that your daughter is so inquisitive, she sounds like a really bright little girl. Can understand your temptation to tell her about the new bubby, especially now that you've had a good scan, can also understand you waiting too. Nine months is a long time for us and must also really be extra long for a little person..she woud feel like you were pregnant FOREVER!!!! Glad that you've found an obs you're happy with and yep, the pregnancy management fee etc does add up. Sensible to do your research. We're like you too, over the threshold and so you get lots back which is lovely!!

Em, on the colomid tomorrow I think? Hope it all goes well. Keep us informed of your progress won't you??

Suzanne, how are you coping with the 2ww..god it's a hard time isn't it???..keep positive, keep the faith. Good news will come I can just feel it!!!

Take care all

Hi there everyone!

Thinking of you today Em, hope the Clomid is kind to you this time around.

Congrats on finishing your paid work Bel - I say PAID work, because you're definitely still working @ 34 weeks with a toddler! Hooray for a good result for Annie's hearing test. Fingers crossed that the ENT has a good outcome for you too!

Annette, thanks for your good wishes. It's hard not to overanalyse everything isn't it! I feel like ET was forever ago, and hope that being back at work this week will help the week go a little quicker. I'm just trying to take it easy, and think happy thoughts!

Mappy Monday everyone!
