My clinic never does them.

We rarely transfer more than two embryos, so there is not much need anyway.

Just an aside, but a couple of years ago, in discussing personal records, one doctor told me he once transferred 17 embryos. He was lucky, as only two implanted.

I think single embryo transfer will be a universal norm within 5 years or so. The "vanishing twin" findings may nail the lid shut on multiple transfers.

The reason I ask is because my 1st IVF was a chemical pregnancy, we transf. 2 good embryo's. I have 4 frozen and was asked if my DH & I would consider selective reduction. Due to my age and cause of infertility they would only transf. 2 embryo's max, but since we are doing FET and all 4 embryo's may not survive thawing, they will sometimes put 3 embryo's back. I was thinking of doing all 4, if they all survive.
The statistics for triplet or quad birth is very low percentage, from what I read, so I figured why not give my DH & I the best chance of success before we actually have to pay for the procedure??
I still will talk to my doctor about it, but think we may try to go for the 4 FET.

Hi Dawnie,
i know exactly where you are right now in the deciding what to do part we talked it over with our DR way before so like you we would be prepared for what may happen, this is so hard isnt it i know id have a panic attack if i was told i was carrying 4 babies but was fully prepared to do it had it happened ... i can see its so much harder for you as your having a frozen cycle

wishing you all the best of luck with your little ones praying for twins for you  one of each ok :D

hugs Debz

If 4 were transferred and none implanted, then the issue was probably not the embryos. I'm sure you've seen my posts regarding ovarian stimulation screwing up the endometrium. You've also seen my posts about how FET avoids this problem.

From my perspective, transferring 4 good embryos is insane. I'd say transfer 2 and freeze two. But our freeze/thaw program is much better than most. We go into corrective action if our thaw survival rate drops below 80%. That rarely happens.

Hi Ghost, good to read you again (i love your input) i agree in part and have talked this through with my DR i get hydros had one on both of my cycles, my thinking is this fluid may have had something to do with failer so i have asked my dr if we are lucky enough to get the same embies and i have a hydro present i want to either drain the hydro at EC or freeze my embies and have FET when im all clear.. i also had OHSS this time i was huge i still have a big belly now but only every evening i was thinking maybe that had something to do with it also... my embies where 1 8 cell grade 1 and 3 6 cells grade 1.5
but who knows... thanks for your input again
