sore butt!! Ehat to do?

Post by samandaw1 »

I just started my progesterone shots this morning and I was so scared. It went better than I thought but as the day went along I became increasinglu sore.

Is this to be expected? It hurts (not intolerable) to sit down and walk. If I am to be on this for the next two weeks and then my first trimester (assuming I get a BFP) I am not sure I can handle this.

Is anyone else Experiencing this? Anu suggestions?

for sure I am dealing with this too. painful and scary but tolerable. it's easy if i don't look at all and hold rag in mouth. it's worth it though if it all works out in the end. hang in there. i have one more week before my test. i thought the same thing you did that if i get a bfp, i will be happy but still concerned about that shot.

stay strong.

Thanks for replying. I just want to make sure we are doing it right. THe shot going in (well at least today) is not bad but I was soo suprised on how it ached all day. Felt like a tetnus shot and can not imagine feeling this soreness all the time.

I think you are about a week ahead of me. Good luck with your blood test and keep me posted.

I go in on Weds for my day 5 transfer and then test on the 13th.

PIO shots

Post by racquel »

Hi - just wanted to share that rubbing the injection site and using a heating pad after the PIO shot seems to help keep it from "knotting up" but not always - I've been doing the shots for abt 6 weeks and have run out of room on my bum that isn't already sore :) trick is to keep high enough that you're not sitting directly on the spot where the oil gathers (aka the knot) but low enough that it doesn't hit the waistband of your panties (TMI?)

Bottom line, it's normal, and this too shall pass! I complained about the shots on a different thread and heard back from a couple of ladies who had been taking the shots for 11 and 14 weeks respectively ... made me feel very lucky!! Best of luck to you both, Racquel

Twins?

Post by samandaw1 »

Racqel,

Thank you, that is good advice. Congrats on your BFP. Do you not know if it is twins yet? When do they let you know?

Hi ladies-
I've been taking the shots for almost 3 weeks, I'll be honest, it's not been fun. DH gives them. I got my BFP on friday. A couple of days before my test, I just wanted to be done with them. I have knots on both sides all the time. Right this very second, it is aching so much. But since the BFP, I am taking them happily. I can stand it. The worst part for me is when DH is injecting it into an already sore spot and it hurts, but I've found that Lamaz type breathing helps alot. Once your used to it, its really not all bad. Thanks.

answer samandaw ?

Post by racquel »

samandaw - we'll know if it's twins next monday 8/7. We've had to wait longer for our 1st sono than others - every clinic is different.

We suspect twins because my first hcg level was super high, but then didn't double every 48 hours (more like 72) so they're not sure if both implanted but only 1 is continuing or what. I'm choosing to believe it's twins. My early pg symptoms have really slowed down so it's making me wonder if one or both are continuing as normal ... but no bleeding so I'm trying to keep positive. I keep imagining twins, but will be happy as long as I don't miscarry!!! :)

let us know how you're doing, any word yet on what your treatment will be?

My DH always takes a pretty hot (as hot as you can deal with) wash rag and rubs my rear with it after the shot.. I had NO brusing and was not sore at all....

Good luck

Hmm, I did just the opposite. I put an ice pack on for about 20 minutes before the injection. No pain.

I had knots, but mine ITCHED like mad! And, after I was done with the shots, the skin on my booty got lizard-like. It took a couple of months for my skin (and lumps) to get back to normal.

Anybody who has to take those shots for 12 weeks deserves some serious time at a spa :)

samandaw1.. No problem.. I never even had a mark after my PIO shots because of the hot wash rag... Glad I could help...

KC.. you got the knots because of the ice... when the oil is warmed it can spread out easier.. when it is cooled it just clumps...

Good luck everyone!!!

Hi, I have read this thread with trepidation as we are only just starting out. I have been given all my meds I think and I have got progesterone suppositories. I think this must be instead of the injections, but again am not sure as it is all new to me. We have got Bruseline jabs for 2 weeks then a scan. Then we have got menopour, which I had with IUI and the HCG shot. Then the progesterone suppositories. Listening to your stories I think we have got off lightly.

Does anyone know if the progesterone injections work better. I guess it is like the nasal spray versus injections of bruseline.

am not sure if I can answer your question but I do know when I was complaining to my nurses on my progesterone injection she said there was a "plan B" but to try the injections for as long as I can handle it. I am guessing the alternative would have been the suppositories. I am sure they work pretty equal but you may want to ask your doctor.
