I plan to mix breast and bottle - I will be off for approx. 8-12 weeks so I plan to do it that time, but hopefully slow down and be doing more formula by the time I go back to work!

On the not so fun subject- without getting too personal with our past history - sex itself is still non existant although my urges were more so from 9w - 15w and have slowed - but with what we have been through sex itself is too scary - so we go to "other methods" !

The other thing is the dr. told us if we are going to try and have sex -- we have to use protection because the male prostate sends signals to our female parts later we get in pregnancy which could get mixed up and lead to preterm labor - we much prefer not using protection since we haven't needed it in several years! so the "other methods" work quite nicely - and I have to say my hubby is pretty awesome about things - no guilt or anything like that!

Interesting and good info! I did not know that. Maybe that's why people are often to to abstain from sex towards the end of their pregnancy.

Welcome and congrats Kelleyg!!

Sex??? what is that??mmm..just kidding..first tri I had no craving at all, second is getting better but we are both so busy it is hard finding the time..plus it has been so hot (with no a/c).

Isabella Loren is getting more active (believe it or not)..I am not sure when she is sleeping..hmmm...is she going to be like her mother a total type-A?? (DH is praying not!) She woke me up this morning at 3:30am with light tapping and movement. We are off to see 'poppsy and grammy' (my nephews have already named my parents) today in the US! I can't wait to see them, relax on the beach 8) and shop :D :D

I wish everyone a great week...and the countdown starts for the 3rd tri!

I it okay to bottle and breast feed. I really want to do both so that the baby does not always have to be fed by me and is happy to go to other people as well. But my friend said you can't do this as it confuses the baby. I reckon it would get used to it! what does everyone else think on this subject?

thanks

barging in..
Though my daughter has been completely breast fed so far,
it is possible to bottle and breast feed together..Thing is,
the bottle ahould be introduced a little later in case you plan to continue breast feeding as formula milk being tastier than breast milk( the baby may like it better and so refuse your breast..its what i've heard)
My friends have done combinations of both and babies generally get used to routine...
I tried to introduce the bottle(water/fresh orange juice) to her at 4 months, but she hasnt taken to it-starts wailing..
i guess they all have their individual tastes, just like us

hope this helps,

I agree with Smita - but what I was told by a pediatrician is that if you are going to do both - plan to pump some so your breast milk can be fed through bottle feeding also - then it isn't a shock to the baby going from breast to bottle if you mix it up in the beginning....Thats what I plan to do!

Hi girls!! Long post for me today.

Jessica - this heat is unbearable, isn't it? My dh and I went to a concert (outdoor) Sunday night and I felt like a sweaty, overheated cow - lol!!

Traci - so you are coming to the states for a visit? Whereabouts? You are originally from here, correct?

Hi Kelleyg and welcome! It is an overjoying experience, isn't it? Like so many of the ladies have said - we just can't believe it's really true after all of the tears and disappointment. That is why we all need to savor every moment of this experience now.

Re: SEX - glad to hear I am not the only one who hasn't really been in the mood. Plus this is my dh's main working season (he is in construction) so he usually falls asleep on the couch after dinner anyway so that gets me off the hook  I hear that most women go to one extreme or the other - they either want sex all of the time, or not at all. I used to love it and now, not so much. My dh and I both worry we are "hurting" the baby when we have sex - although I know that is ridiculous. Interesting what Jessica said about the male prostate sending mixed signals - I had never heard that before. I agree with you ladies about the "other methods"

I feel movement daily now. I don't know where my placenta is like all of you seem to know - I am assuming it is not in front b/c of all of the thuds and thumps I feel all of the time. Mine don't really feel like "flutters" like a lot of women feel. Every little thing I feel just makes me smile - I love it!

I plan on breast feeding too, then pumping into bottles for times when I am at work, etc. I have a friend that breast feeds, but she cannot get her 4 month old to take a bottle at all. It is her milk in the bottle, not formula - but her daughter will not cooperate. She has been really struggling with this. She has to work and the babysitter is really worried that she can't feed the baby - so my friend has to drive there every day to breast feed her. Luckily she has a sympathetic boss!

Kristi - your nursery furniture sounds great! Sounds like you are on the ball as far as getting everything ready goes. Wish I could say the same for myself..lol

Libby - I have been doing prenatal yoga and pilates, alternating with 35-45 minute walks on the treadmill. I only do one of these every couple of days - but still I am hoping it will help keep me strong for delivery. In spite of the exercise and (mostly) healthy eating, I am still packing on the pounds! Guess there is only so much we can do.

Sue - Congrats on telling your family!! Now you can get all of the much deserved attention you have coming. Enjoy it :)

Hi Mel - funny that you have an empty journal too! And we seem to have the same taste in baby names! I guess "great minds think alike"

Smita - I never see any of your posts as "barging in". You always have great advice and tips to offer so thank you!!

Sorry if I missed anyone - glad you are all doing well!

Hey Everyone!

Glad to hear everyone is doing great! And welcome new 2nd trimester bump buddies!

I can't belive i am almost 20 weeks! Not that I have been waiting as long as some of you but it really still feels unbelivable that I am actually pregnant.

I am with you Lisa.. I never really felt flutters i just get pounded!

As for sex.. well I am one of the want it all the time people.. My Dh is also in construction and they heat makes him so tired at night.. But I can usually wake him up at night after one of my bathroom visits and convince at least parts of him that its time to rise and shine!

If he is too tired.. no problem.. I can do other things..... haha..

I think the "O" feels so great... I can tell exactly how big my uterus is because it completely contracts.. Just like those braxton hicks contractions starting in month 6.

My Dh's Cousin had a baby tonight.. He is adorable... Named Orion Thomas Carney! Makes me want to hurry up more than ever!

I have my ultrasound on Thursday.. So less then 2 days away for me.. I can't wait to find out what I am having! I have a 12 year old girl and an 11 year old boy. I have to say I am really hoping for a boy Dh's hoping for a girl! So it will be a really fun day. I don't want to say this because I kinda feel guilty a little for feeling this way.. But I really hope I don't sound too disapointed if its a girl. I really have felt like it was a boy from the begining.

December seems so far away! But its really just right around the corner!

Have a great couple days everyone! I will be sure to post as soon as I know what Im having! (BOY oh BOY)

Danielle, your email cracked me up! You have energy in the middle of the night to make DH rise and shine for some lovin? You're amazing! I'm not sure I completely even wake up during all those potty trips in the night.

You don't have to feel guilty for hoping for a certain sex and then feeling a bit disappointed if it ends up different. I think many of us feel that way, although we don't dare admit it because we feel like it's selfish after what we've been through. I hoped for boy/girl twins because these are my first and last babies, so one of each sounded fun. When I found out it was 2 boys I was a bit disappointed. But of course I knew 100% in my heart that I'm lucky to even be having a baby, let alone 2 of them. And I know that's how each of us feels.

Looking forward to hearing your news!!!!

Lisa, glad to hear you are doing well!

Sue, I had a dream about you last night! You bought something from me on ebay and we realized we knew each other from the message boards. How funny.

Hi Ladies,

My DH is a computer tech and he's always tired..with work and then he has to do some house work...see about the 12, 10, and 4 yr old.....very tired...I do as much as I can but I'm limited to this bed rest thing....I start water/pool and massage therapy next Monday and will be so happy...this should relieve DH some. The good thing is that the 12 yr old and 4 yr old girl are very responsible, the 10 yr old ...well he does his best.

We started searching for nursery items last saturday..can't decide on what color we would like the furniture to be. DH likes orering off ebay also, however I informed him that we will not do that this time around.

Sex, is a not so frequent thing that goes on here.....maybe once a week, it's me..I'm in the mood however it's positioning myself which is a joke....

I have my 24wk scan & Dr' appt on 8/15/06

KristiA :D I understand how you felt...then I thought about it and realized that I don't have to do hair as often....
