Just when we were set to start the thaw cycle (we have 5 frosties waiting for us from the 1st attempt in June) they have now discovered I have a fibroid. Doc says it has to come out - with IVF pregnancies they have to have everything right. Even though you can be PG naturally and have fibroids....?
Can't believe it - on top of everything else. I had one before and it was removed 4 years ago and now just at the wrong time I get another one. Very worried about scarring etc which will stop the embie implanting.
Anyone been there?

I have 3 fibroids, and am now 14 weeks pregnant after first go ICSI. The policy at my clinic is not to touch fibroids, as at the moment, the IVF community are not sure how much fibroids actually contribute to problems, but they are very sure how much scarring from ops to remove them do. I'd get a second opinion if I were you.

I also had a fibroid which they mentioned on my first ivf. However they said they would just "monitor" it. Anyway nothing was ever done about it and although that cycle was bfn, the next one was bfp!
Always best to double check ALL your options with them. Maybe even ring round a couple of other local clinics and find out their policy?
Best of luck!

Hi Angie. I've had 2 fibroids - all removed before I started IVF (didn't think I'd need IVF). My RE said that he wasn't concerned about any fibroids as long as they were outside the womb and not in the womb cavity. Good luck with your treatment. Paula x
