Dear Carolyn,

Oh, what you write about your last day at work, the party, the book is so touching! It is sad to be leaving after such a long time. But it is also wonderful that everybody is so sad to see you go. And you ARE doing it for a special reason.

I guess you couldn't have planned better. Full work load and then almost no waiting time until the surgery. I hope you are not getting too excited. But you are not alone.

I whish you the best luck for a successful surgery! I am sure they are going to do the best job with your tubes! I will be thinking of you tomorrow and afterwards and hope that recovery will be quick! You will get this BFP, Carolyn!

Sleep well tonight. And we are all waiting for you to come back soon :D

Love, Veronika

Hi

Omg - I think that I have found a way to be able to post via my Blackberry. It took me about 2 hours.

But what this means - if it works - is that I might be able to update you from my hospital bed.

Now that would be cool!! Thank you for all you well wishes.

Have a good week.
Love Carolyn xx

Hi Carolyn,

Well its 5pm Aussie time, so you must be about waking up to go to the Hospital. Just in case you have a sneaky peek at us with your blackberry, a final dose of good wishes for you!!!

Take it easy and let us know how you get on when you can.

I had my follie scan today and I am so disappointed. There was still only 1 follicle and he hadn't grown much over the weekend....only 12mm. Thats nowhere near big enough. So much for the increased doses. Perhaps my one follicle will be like Jackie's little fighter and come through for me in the end. I didn't even bother having bloods today as the doc said there was no point. I'm too go in on wednesday to see how my bloods are doing.

How is everyone else?

Hello everyone!

Em, I am sorry to hear that your follies aren't growing quicky. You must be very frustrated.

Dania, it's good to hear that you are doing well.

Veronika, hope everything is going well for you, I've got my fingers crossed that you and Carolyn will end up with natural BFPs after your surgery!

Jackie, hope you had a nice trip. I would love to go on vacation again. We went in January but that feels like it was years ago!

Ladies

This will be quite quick but so please to be able to update you today. No personals I'm afraid but wanted to update you as know that you"ll be looking out for news.

Op all done. 7 1/2 hour wait - wow that was stressful - last on consultants list for the day. Then 2 hour op. In lots of pain when I first came around. But they have given my morphine and lots of other painkillers so more comfortable now although pretty sore. On drip as very dehydrated. On catheter as not allowed to move. This is all new for me (sorry if tmi!!!!). Scar seems to be about 10inches long - never liked my tummy anyway!! One of my worst features :-(((

I am so pleased (make that over the moon) it is all done. It was really eating me yesterday. Surgeon left before I came too. So real news will come tomorrow.

But anaethetist lady (same as for lap who is very nice) did stop by to see if I was ok to eat a little and so I was digging for news. She thinks that he was able to re-connect BOTH sides. Sure she would not have said that unless she was pretty sure. I so hope it is true.

I would be so happy and so very very grateful. Still no guarantees but would be a real bonus.

Falling asleep as I type. Still rather groggy.

We are all going to do this.Em - so hoping for better news from you hun. Dania - cannot believe your ticker - amazing.

Thanks for all your support. It really helps me to know that you are there for me.

Love to you all.

Carolyn
I am so glad your op went so well. I know you were waiting for the offical chat but I agree I think the nurse would not have said that she thought it went well.. We are awaiting all your good news :D :D You will be right with Dania and have a natural BFP. :D

Em how are you doing with your follies.. You must be very frustrated but like you said.. IT ONLY TAKES ONE...I will be crossing my fingers and toes....

My trip was nice ( I caught a fish) first time fishing.. We through it back but it was a fun experience.. Too much wine but oh well I deserved it since it will be my last big party because I will be preggers soon.. :D
I am still bloated but its more like an overall weight gain..Its my hips through my belly and backside.. I have read that a lot of ladies have put on weight with IVF.. I guess I am surprised because it came so late after my cycle but I guess that can happen.. I go to acupuncture tonight so I was going to mention it to him.. Not that he will be able to fix it but maybe he can help to explain it.. It truly is weird though and DH keeps saying that he does not think its normal weight gain. He says that it came on too soon.. I feel ok but I just hope this goes away soon.. For me The doc has actually giggled when I asked if I could get preggers without help.. I have PCOS so I dont ovulate on my own.. So this is just some werid weight gain.. Mother Natures cruel way of adding insult to injury.. NO you are not pregnant Jackie you are just getting pudgy......How rude...Oh well I am just hanging in till September than I go again..

Dania it was so good to here from you and your ticker is amazing.. You must be so happy.. :D

Love and hugs

Hi Ladies

So I waited from 6am when they woke me until 5pm for my consultant to come and give me the news. And as ever, it is a mix of good and bad.

The good news is that he was able to reconnect both tubes. The bad news is that there was a lot more infection than expected in the womb itself rather than the tubes. He therefore fears that it will reoccur so we don't have much time.......million dollar question is will it be enough time????

So I am happy and frustrated at the same time. I am able to go home tomorrow but am still in a lot of pain. Guess it is to be expected. I'll see him again next week to have the stiches out. Then we get to try naturally.....

I will write personals when on lap top at home tomorrow.

Em - hoping that folly fairy is doing her job for you.

Good night ladies.

Hi guys,

Caryolyn - good to hear you are on the mend and that they did manage to reconnect you. Just a thought...have you guys considered doing a couple of IUI's each month if you may only have limited time? Its nowhere near as invasive as IVF (you can even do it without the Clomid). Its cheaper and easier on the body than IVF, too. But it would increase your chances greatly on just trying naturally. It may be worth chatting to your doc about?

As for me, I had no luck with my bloods this morning and so I have to go in again tomorrow. I had a look at my follie and he is still only 12mm, so I'm very disappointed. Tomorrow is Day 14 and the IUI was meant to be around then. Now I'm not sure when it'll be. (if at all).

Will keep you posted.

So Hello Dear Ladies

So i am back at home and can post from my laptop as we have wireless at home - very cool!!! I have slept most of the day so far - they told me that would be the case for a few days as still on lots of painkillers. When he told me how much infected tissue he had to remove then it became clear that i would be in pain for a while.

Em-I am very sorry that your folly has not really progressed at all. It must be so frustrating for you. Recall that you were less keen on another iui than your dh. May be it was just not meant to be.........Do you have any idea when you first ivf attempt would be or is it too soon to be thinking about that??? It just helps me relax when I know what the fall back plan is

Interesting that you say about me trying iui. Not sure why our consultant has not mentioned at all. We will see him next Tuesday so I shall ask him then

Jackie - the fishing and wine up in Canada sound like fun for you. You deserve a few glasses of wine. It is impossible to be good all the time!! I had a cup of 'real' tea in hospital after my op as a treat. I also had a chocolate bar yesterday to try to cheer myself up!!!!

Sorry about the ivf weight gain. i found that i added at least 10lbs with the drugs. i found that drinking all the water to flush the drugs out certainly helped. My tummy is huge again now post op. He says that it is because he had to cut through the tummy wall so it has damaged the muscles - what muscles  . I was so pleased that i had lost the weight and now I just look really bloated all over again. Why is this so dam hard for all of us???? Let us know how acu goes - my cutie told me that i had to recover for a few weeks before I could go again

Anna - thanks for popping in to give me some support, it was so kind of you - it was fab to read your news

Veronika - do you know your dates and when you will be trying naturally? - it must be pretty soon now. Let is know when you're PhD is completed so that we can all congratulate you on that amazing achievement 8)

Laura - any sign of AF for you yet? Getting close for your cycle now - I guess that you & Jackie will be cycle buddies again

Dania - you must look after yourself. You need to listen to your body especially if it is asking for rest. How amazing that you are now almost through the first trimester. i cannot believe how quickly it has passed by....

So I have been trying to work out my dates. Since 1st ivf have been on a longer 35 day cycle. That means I would expect AF next Friday (18th August) if it has not been messed up by the op. My first ovulation would be around the first few days of September. I am glad that I have some time to recover as could not even contemplate sex right now given how sore and fragile I feel!!!!! Then I guess that i will face a 2ww to see if AF shows up around 21st September???? he has told me that I must take hpt every month and if I get a +ve that I must let him know so they can do an early scan because of risk of eptopic...............

I will go to see my consultant next Tuesday. Not sure that he'll tell me anymore. Em - i will ask him about iui and see what he has to say. The stiches will all be taken out then. After that I may well go down to Devon to see my parents and have them look after me for a week or so. Nurses were very nice at the hospital and dh came to see me each evening and to collect me today but it is so boring just lying around all day  Not meant to drive for 4-6 weeks..........

anyway it is nice to be at home and in our own lovely bed.

Thanks for all the support.

love Carolyn xxxx

Girls,
It seems like it has been forever since I last posted. I was very regular here but then all PG stopped posting and I really felt quilty that I was PG with 2 and some of you were not. I really, really wish all of you healthy pregnancy next try!!!
I am doing well, babies are growing, 15 weeks today. We heard the HB- 160 and 140bpm. I hope that one is a boy and the other a girl. I will find out on 9-18.
In a week we are going to visdit families in Russia and Bulgaria. i am scary about the trip but hope all goes well.
I had a scary bleedingmoment last week, ended up in ER but babies were fine and the bleeding stopped.
Em- GL with IUI!
Carolyn- I am glad they reconnected both tubes. I hope the infection goes away.
I hope you don't mind I popped up again.
Good Luck and have a great day!

Carolyn,

welcome back home! You sure are quick to recover!
I am glad to hear that they could reconnect both tubes! As for the time that's running, ah, you are so right, it just can't ever just be good news, it seems. But I am sure you do the right thing with trying naturally for a while. And I think what Em said about the IUI's is a really good idea as well. That just gives you the possibiliy to use the time you have more efficiently. I so hope this is going to work for you and your DH!

As for me: the surgery almost didn't mess up my cycle, AF came 3 days earlier than expected, and was relatively normal (actually the pain was less than usual). So I was a bit confused about when my new cycle had officially started...and, well, I guess we are now trying our luck again with conceiving naturally.

I will post more tomorrow, wishing you all a good night, well morning, rather, Love

Veronika
