We just attempted our fist ivf. We were told we were we had two size 8 eggs, one graded A and one graded AB. One day 12 after transfer we were told we were pregnant, but had an HCG of only 24, but 3 days later our level only went up 2 points. So he says I will just miscarry at my period. Can I just treat it as a normal period and use tampons?
We are devastated and haven't talked about doing it again. Do you think it would be worth doing again, I don't know if we can take the financial and emotional toll again. Does our situation sound positive? Thanks, I just need some encouragement.

I am so sorry that you are going thru this... I had a miscarriage at 8wks with my first IVF. We had some frosties and did that cycle and it was negative. Wasn't too sure about doing another fresh IVF but RE said that I make good eggs and hubby has good swimmers and together we make good embies and I had gotten preggers, it was that we just had some bad luck and that she thought it would work for us! So we are going to start another fresh cycle the end of this month!
I know you don't want to hear this now, because I know I didn't after my loss, but you did get pregnant and that is a good sign and you had good embies.
Also after my loss I made my clinic do bloodwork to see if I had any clotting issues, I think the blood test is called APA. They usually don't do it after 1 loss but I don't have to money to go thru 3 losses for them to up and do blood test and find out that I something that could easily been fixed. It came back border line for clotting issues and will be on baby aspirin for the next cycle.

I just wanted to tell you im sorry to hear about your first IVF attempt.
I do want to give you some hope for your next attempt.
I did my first IVF attempt last November and we transferred 2 embies when I went for my test it was positve but, a low number of 30 then when i went back for my second test 3 days later my levels dropped to 15 so the doctor said it was considered a "chemical pregnancy" thats when you do get pregnant but, it just basically doesnt hold the pregnancy but, i didnt miscarry i stopped everything and just got a normal period. I wouldnt use tampons the first period personally because i would wait.
It is great that you did get pregnant though that is a really good sign!
Well now I did my second IVF in June transferred 3 embies this time and I am now 9 weeks 4 days pregnant!!! So I just wanted to show you that I had the same situation happen to me and the second time around worked for us!!! So I hope you try again and have your dreams come true!!!!
