Home inseminations

Hi everyone

I wonder if anyone can offer any advice please.

I am a traditional surrogate ttc surrobabe for my best friend. We are using OPK's to track LH surge and are doing insems before, during and after ov. No luck so far

My GP has given my clomid (this is now my second cycle on it)

I had no problems conceiving my own children naturally, although my last pregnancy was 9 years ago!

My blood tests have all come back normal, IF's sperm tests are fine but up to now we've had very little success.

I realise 4 months is a relatively short period of time, but just wonder if anyone who has done donor/home insems can offer me any advice on what worked for them?

Also does anyone know if IUI's have a higher success rate?

So you have been doing home insem's for four months? I have heard that IUI's have a little higher chance of working because the sperm is higher up in the uterus. Closer to the tubes. I have been reading stories of home insems that work....I know that it takes on average about 6 months or so. I have been looking up labs that supply sperm. Lots of info out there...

Well I had my first IUI done back in 1997. Did it for 3 months and finally got pregnant with a girl. She is 8 now 9 in Sept. I had to do IUI because my cervical mucus was hostile so it would not let the sperm swim past the cervix. So we did IUI which is put directly into the Uterus. Doctor told me that is also helps if you have an orgasm right after the insemination. He said it kind of sucks the sperm up faster. If you have any more questions, I will be happy to answer them. I studied alot about home insemination when I did it. I am going to do it again next month so I am reading alot about it now as well.

Thank you for sharing. It is good to know. Are you supposed to have an orgasm after IUI??? I have read about it with the home inseminations. What lab did you use? You are blessed with your girl!!! How wonderful. You must be getting so excited to get started again.

I am very blessed. Yes, orgasm right afterwards. Now I am 42 and not sure this will work again but I need to try. I will try for 1 year and if nothing then I will call it quits. Or maybe do egg share IVF in Los Angeles I hear it is cheaper over there. As for the Lab I used Reproductive Science Center very good. Where are you from? I wish you all the luck and I will be praying for you. Want to be my buddy on here. I could use someone to talk to especially after inseminations if it does not work and if it works.

I am from Michigan. I go in for a consult on Thursday about IUI. I also have contacted NWCryolab to order the sperm from. I was thinking about ordering some that matches my hubby because of his vasectomy...My nurse said that it could take several months because the chances are the same if you conceive naturally. I will have to let you know what comes of it. I just want to give each chance the best possible opportunity. Its good to have someone to talk to.

oh, are they in Spokane Washington? signed up with NW Andrology and Cryobank. I am wondering if they are the same ones. They have lots to choose from. I am on my second cycle of clomid days 5-9 today is my 9th day and go in for ultrasound on Friday day 13 to see size of follicles. Hopefully, we will inseminate early next week like day 16 or 17. This is so frustrating. I am glad you are here to talk to. I have a good feeling that we will both get pregnant.

Yes that is the one. They do have a good list to choose from. I have been happy about that! I am going in this Thursday and I wish I could get it set up for this month! lol I know they wont do it but it would be nice. Anyhow I am so looking forward to it. You are right it is nice to have each other as I am choosing not to tell anyone what we are doing. As far as donor goes. People just dont understand and I dont want any problems in that department. We are just going to pick out same facial features and blood type. Well good luck to you and I hope that you can do it earlier than expected. I am looking forward to being right there with you soon!!! I have never done IUI so it will be new for me. I dont know if I will have to do any other tests or what. Well I went in on day 13 and my follie was a 16 then he said it should be ready in 2 days so he had me come back in on day 15 and it was gone. He says I must have ovulated that morning so it was too late to inseminate. So we have to wait for the next cycle which is due to start on Saturday March 17th then he is going to give me Repronex to produce more follies. How is everything going with you. Just to let you know, we picked donor number 594 for our first choice. What step are you in right now. It is so nice to be able to talk to someone.

Heres my story...
I got some not so good news today my RE said that he thinks that both tubes may be blocked and that I will need tube opening surgery and it may not even work!!! I can't believe it!!! I bawled all the way home from work because I called the office today (they left me a message while I was on duty) on my way home.. I am so devastated. I can't believe this. So we are looking at doing a tube surgery that may or may not help and/or another IVF. I am quite sad and upset tonight about it.

I just dont get it because a week ago the radiologist said that the tubes were open when he did it. I think I need a second opinion. I made an appt for next Wed at 1030 to talk it over with him and for him to prove to me why he thinks they are blocked. I hate this.

I have a follow up with the RE next wed to talk about setting up an option of my choice and to see what he thinks. This sucks. . If the egg cant get out then what good is it to do IUI? I have never even had any female problems before and no tube/ovary surgery...I feel... I feel just yucky.
