FET success rates?

Post by scorry »

Hi Folks,

It seems strange posting on this side again. For those who don't know our history, we had a wee boy..Thorfinn, 4 weeks ago, I went to term with him, but he died 20 minutes after birth due to meconium aspiration, he got distressed as I had a very fast labour.
The only way forward is to continue to try once more to fill our lives with more children.
Has anyone been successful with FET? We were lucky 1st time with ICSI and have 8 Frosties, and were wondering if anyone has tried this?

Scorry

FET success rates?

hello scorry,

you wont know me but I remember you posting last year. Im so very sorry to hear your news about little Thorfinn. I cant imagine how you must both feel. I lost my twins in 95 but they were a few months from being full term. I think about them every day and I imagine my little charlie and joe in a wonderful park with my dad and my grandparents watching them play and I know they are safe. My grandma and grandpa were huge believers in us all going to the most wonderful place one day. I know there have been a few little people that will be your thorfinn and tracys little baby s and they will all be playing together.
Im just so sorry for you both.

In answer to your question scorry about fet, there have been a few girls recently who have had +'s from fet. This has given me great hope as our last attempt although ending in a +, our little embies were not comfy enough and by the time we had our 1st scan they were no where to be seen. I knew though as soon as we had the + things were not right. however....sorry im waffling....we have 15 frosties and Im just waiting for af. But the last few months have seen a good number of girls get +'s from little frosties.
Its made us feel alot more positive about fet. you have a good number of frosties scorry and thats good. when we did fet before we only had 2 and they were not as good a grade and didnt survive the thaw ,but 8 frosties gives you a good number as if the 1st 2 dont survie the thaw they try the next 2 and so on. It only takes a few seconds for them to thaw, so you dont have to wait for the next month.

I wish you both well and I shall be thinking of you and parying it wont be long until you have a little brother or sister for Thorfinn.

lots of love
kathryn
x
FET success rates?

Post by Sarah30 »

Hi Scorry

I've popped over from the other side to get an update of who's doing what and saw your post.

As you know, I'm pg at the moment and that was from FET. I had one fresh ET which failed. Then a frozen FET with 2 eggs that was successful with 1 embryo - sadly this embryo died at 8½ due to chromosonal abnormalities. Then I had FET again with 2 embryos and am now pg with twins - so YES FET CAN AND DOES WORK!!!

I think once they've managed to defrost and get good embryos, there's as much chance of success as with fresh - it's the defrosting process that is the dodgy part. We had 13 embryos frozen and with our FET's - now we have 1 left - the rest perished. We had 19 eggs collected from our cycle and the quality was lower because of the quantity (or something like that, can't remember exactly what they said) but hopefully you're 8 will be great and defrost without any wastage.

Very very very best of luck and I hope you have 1st time FET success like we did.

Love Sarah x
