Frozen sperm & time off after ET

hi vicki

sorry can not help you with the frozen sperm. when i spoke to the doctor after et he said that they implant within 5 days so after that there is not a lot you can do. of course no horse riding or heavy lifting, you should obstain from sex,no smoking and there is evidence that consumption of more than one or two alcoholic drinks a day will reduce pregancy. it really is up to you about work and of course what you do at work.

well hope i have not gone on to much.
i'm on the 2 weeker but i work from home so i'm lucky.

all the best
july ann
been in tmt for 4 years.Male factor. Have had 3 icsi, one ivf with donor sperm.Went for fet with 7 eggs but none made it to blastocyst. just had 5 DI. test date 27 july

Frozen sperm & time off after ET

Hi Girls, on the subject of returning to work after ET, I went back on the monday after ET on friday as my consultant assured me that provided you don't do anything like bungee jumping, there's nothing you can really do to make the embryos stick around or not.

Take it easy for a few days, as July Ann says, but there's no point doing a hand-stand for a fortnight (even though you really feel that you want to !!)

We had a positive on our 2nd go - I really hope it works out for you both this time.

Lots of Love - Jo. Hi Vicki

Cant help with the frozen sperm but with regards to time off after et. I didnt go back to work until after I'd tested. I'd read that if a pregnancy is going to occur it will happen within 3 days so I never left the house for 3 days!!
Good luck
Bertie (8 wks pg) xx

Frozen sperm & time off after ET

hi everyone

would love some advice.
Have taken some time off work - results of 2ww on tues next after a first fet. Just found it hard to cope, really weepy and exhausted. Do the pessaries and progynova ( I'm taking 8mg) make you feel like that? Also really nauseous, like a nervous tummy all the time. Paranoia definitely setting in. I'm a teacher so September not a good time to be off but taking DH's advice for a change. Isn't it hard to be private about all this too at work ?
First ivf in January failed. I'm a pessimist by nature and hope I'll cope with whatever news next week !
Thanks for any help.
Love gail xxx

Frozen sperm & time off after ET

Hi Vicki B,
This is my 9th full tmt and 10th et and have done it didn't each time re time off after et! The time it worked (and I got to 10 weeks) I had et on Sun, went to visit freinds that night and back to work the next day! This time however as its my last go I've been off since I started the buserilin injections as I wanted to be really chilled this time and not worry about fitting app't's and tablets in with work! Like July Ann I'm on 2 ww - and would agree with all the advise she has said. Plus I was also told no baths - just showers!
Gail - I've found the pessaries can give mmod swings, low mood and feelings of pregnancy ie. sore boobs, nausea. But then this 2 ww is so stressful that it could also be the worry and wait of it all! Try to stay positive and know that whatever the result there's support here!
Di

Frozen sperm & time off after ET

Hi Vicki. My dh and I also had to use his frozen sperm but we had ICSI which only requires one sperm per egg. We still have 3 vials left. Your clinic may not feel that ICSI is necessary the first time but why don't you ask them to make sure that they do keep a small amount frozen so that you do have some sperm to work with and will have the option of doing ICSI next time, just in case.

Regarding returning to work, I had ET on Saturday and returned to work on Tuesday. My clinic just recommends light duty for 5 days so I guess it depends on what type of job you have. The main thing is to not hurt yourself, from what I read, you would have to do something really crazy to actually have an impact on whether they attach or not.

Val

[Edited by val on 17-Sep-03 08:47]

Frozen sperm & time off after ET

Hi ALL

Thanks for the advice girls I think I will listen to my body and take as long as I need, my work can be stressful at time so I think I will have a few days out at least and only have showers(thanks Di).

Gail my DH (dearest Hubby,I think) is a teacher so I know what you mean about Setpember but I think you have done the right thing.

Period due 29th Sept so I just can't wait to get going.

Val I am having ICSI but my clinic (Hammersmith Holspital, Wolfson clinic, London) did say there is always the risk of using all 5 tubes of the frozen guys in one go due to the risks with thawing plus the clinic advised they will only use the very best sperm, so I guess it depends on the quality once thawed, I guess their a bit concerned because my DH had testicular Cancer.

Can anyone give me a quick low down on the Lingo I've worked out a few.

GOOD LUCK to you ALL WITH 2WW congrats Bertie & JO.

THANKS

Vicki B XXXX
