Seven and half week scan, Bad news

Hi Went for my scan on Monday, and feel like I'm in a living nightmare. They found a 5 week empty sac, and there was a dark mass on my fallopian tube, which the nurse said was probably a follicle from egg collection, but she couldnt rule out it being ectopic! Anyway they did a blood test, and they seemed to think it would probably be a low hcg level, and I'd start to bleed in a few days, but my hcg level had shot up, so who knows? I've got to go back on Friday for another blood test. I just feel like I've been left in limbo, and feel like they could at least scan me again, on Friday, just to see if they missed anything, but I know I'm clutching at straws! I feel the same as I've done all along, and I've had no bleeding, this is so hard to take in and to top it all I'm scared to death of getting bad pains, which could be signs of ectopic, I've benn told to ring then straight away if I do. Hi Lottie I havn't spoken to you before but I wanted to express my deap sorrow for what your going through. I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks and they also thought I might have an ectopic tests however proved not. I had a high hcg for weeks after. I know what your going through is hell and all I can say is give it time. Thinking of you take care Aly xx

Hi Charlotte, So so sorry to hear your news you must be devasted, it is so unfair after the high of getting a positive and its all taken away from you. Make them give you another scan on Friday if only to put your mind at rest and let you move on. I feel absolutely gutted for you. Lots of Love and a huge hug Lynne

Charlotte, I'm so sorry you've had to go through this horrible time. Lynne is absolutley right about asking for another scan. We did that when I m/c at 8 weeks last year, and the reassurance of a second scan helped put our minds at rest a little. What you are feeling is absolutely natural so try not to think you are 'clutching at straws'. We all have to keep hope, that's what keeps us strong. Really sorry to read your post. I hope your clinic scan you tomorrow as you will no doubt want to know one way or the other. I hope its not bad news. Try & stay positive. Thinking of you and your husband Sarah xx

As everyone else, really sorry to hear your sad news. I went for 3rd scan 2 years again and there was no heartbeat - so I can feel some of the pain and disbelief you and DH must be feeling. Its bad enough going through all we go through for this to then happen. You're in my thoughts, Take care, Di

Charlotte, Just wanted to say how sorry I was to hear about your scan. I had a similar experience last year and thought eveything was OK until my 8 wk scan. They found an empty sac and scanned me again 2 wks later to confirm it. I can remember how awful we felt at the time and i wish you and dh all the best. Thankyou so much for all your kind words. Went for blood test this morning, and they also did a scan, which is still unconclusive. The nurses where a lot more understanding and helpful. The sac had a yoke in it, and had began to shrink, and there was a small amount of bleeding nearby. But near my ovary was a dark mass, that the scan couldnt really make out. I've still not bled, or had any pain. Anyway my hcg level has gone up again since Monday, so got to go back again this Monday, for another blood test and scan. I cant believe it, when I started this treatment, I was worried I wouldnt produce enought of the hormone(because I didnt have any injections, pessarys after ET) Thanks again, Charlotte x

Dear Lottie So sorry to hear you're having such a horrible time. Is there any more news or are you still waiting to find out? My 7 week scan was awful too - they couldn't see anything and it turned out that I was ectopic. Thinking of you - I know it's such a difficult time. Hope you're OK. Love, Claire x
