2ww-swollen stomach and pain- advice appreciated

Post by belly belly »

Hoping that someone out there knows more than I do and can help- I am on day 8 post iui and follice reduction. I have PCOS and this is my second cycle. At the follicle reduction apparently the doctor took away 11 eggs ( does anyone know whether that's allot of eggs?) Also I have had extreme swelling and pain in my left side ( does anyone know whether this may negatively affect implantation?) they left two 'juicy ones' so described by the nurses. My oestrogen level three days prior to iui was 900 ( again does anyone know wht this means i.e. good, bad or indifferent?

All explanations welcome ...

From a very uniformed fellow TTC

Belly Belly,
I think maybe the reason that you have pain is because you developed so many follicles. I just finished my 2nd round of Clomid and during the ultrasound check, I had developed 5 follicles and more developing. I just had my first IUI and told my doctor that I had been having some cramping plus my stomach is extremely distended. She said that this is normal with woman who develop many follicles because your ovary has enlarged so much. I could not receive the Hcg injection before the IUI because they were fearful that my ovary could rupture. I did not have the follicle reduction so they told me that if this works, our chances for twins is higher. As far as the estrogen count, I know nothing of that.
Good luck and I hope everything works for you!

Hi belly belly- Sorry for you hurting I was in your shoes when I did IVF
The took 23 eggs from me! So you know I was in pain. Yes 11 is a good number.

The pain you feel I was told is when they take the eggs from you, even though they are taken, your body automaticly wants to reinflate the follicles!
Your body wants to ovulate but the meds you're on doesn't allow that to happen. I know this is weird but the Dr. said this is all normal and the pain/discomfort will last up to 2wks. I was bloated for a while and still had trouble taking deep breaths alittle. Going to the bathroom was scary too. Mine only lasted a week maybe a little more. This should not harm the process in getting pg in anyway is what I was told. Hope this helps a little
