After the birth bleeding

Post by leigh »

Hi All
Just wanted to ask a question. How long did you bleed for after the birth? Jake was born three weeks ago and I'm still bleeding. About a week ago it went to a brown discharge and i thought it was stopping but then it went red again and has been ever since. It's not heavy and i'm not in pain. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

After the birth bleeding

Post by Casy P »

I continued to bleed for 5-6 weeks, but everyone is very different. I would mention it to your health visitor/GP though just to check. I remember when i mentioned it they said if it carried on much longer they would look into it. Think its ok as long as it doesn't contain clots.
Hope it stops soon

Hi,
It was a while ago now but i think i bled for about 4 weeks then the blood went brown for a week then back to red for 2 weeks. My GP said that when it had gone back to red again it was probably my period starting up at the end of my post natal bleed.

Hi

it was over a year ago since gave birth now, but I bled for absolutey ages!!!! I was starting to get worried as it was well over the 6 weeks i was told it would be! When i had my 6 week check up they said it was fine. it had gone slow. then it went really really heavy again - TMI maybe but i was changing pads every hour/hour and 1/2. I got told i had prob started my period. It settled down again after a few days and stopped as normal.

If concerned i would mention it to a doctor or your health visitor, tho. every one is different!

Hope it sorts itself out, and congrats on your new bundle of joy!!!
