septembers hopes snd dreams

Post by Casy P »

Thanks for the great welcome guys. It feels good to have support already and things haven't even started yet! Strange tho that now we have decided to try again I realised how much I have blocked out of y mind just what the treatment involves. Ah well just gotta go for it and take a deep breath!
Showed DH this site and he thinks it will be great for me. Think he hopes it might stop me talking to him about it every five minutes.
Thanks Aunty for setting up this thread, can't believe how many people are on the list already.
Good Luck to Macca and hope your holding out ok.
Thinking of those who have their baseline scans tomorrow, hope all goes to plan. I remember ieach step was a big hurdle to cross.
Can't wait to start now, just a shame my clinic shut for August so thats why I can't start this month, but the end Sept. Why do these consultants need A months holiday!!

Thanks for your good luck wishes ladies. Nervous nervous nervous... but I will bear your comments in mind and NOT do my usual and get too dispondent if they can't see much tomorrow. From what you say it's Friday's scan that counts, right?

Welshgirl - WELCOME!! :D Sounds like we're at about the same stage. I also have my 1st follie scan tomorrow and if all goes well EC on 30th (a day after you). Keep me posted - I'll keep everything crossed for you!

I am back from my baseline. It was good news. I have 20 follicles (10 on each side). He was pleased. My Estrogen bloodtest came back good, so I can start stims tomorrow. I went through the whole training on what to do...mixing, injection, etc...and OH MY GOSH MY HEAD WAS SPINNING. Really. It is so much to remember.

I asked the doc about how many to implant since we really do not want multiples (I am high risk for carrying one baby full term...so two is really almost out of the question). He said at my age (31), even if we just have an average quality egg...he would recommend only puttng one in. Does this sound right? He said we should freeze the rest. I am just nervous to only put one in.

We are having pgd so these will be five day transfers.

Well, that is all the info for now. Thanx for all your well wishes.

Talk to you all soon!

Hello
me again.. Zirly congrats good news on the follies.. I cant say for the # of embies to put back.. My doc says 4 (and I am 32) I guess they all have there own ways of doing things.. Keep in mind though it only takes one.. On my first IVF (sadly m/c) but I did get preggers with just the one embie.. My doc wanted to put in 4 but we only ended up with one egg and it stuck.. Keep up the PMA

I have a question. Do a lot of you ladies do the PGD testing? Zirly I noticed you said you were? My doc does has never mentioned it

love to all

Congratulations Zirly! Great news.
The whole mixing of drugs does seem strange at first but after a couple of days it gets easier.
Can I ask what PGD testing is? Never heard of it.

Afternoon,

Karen a big welcome to you wishing you the best for your cycle....

Angela, Paula, Emma, Karen and welshgirl, ..good luck with your scans tomorrow..we will be thinking of you

Zirly wow thats fantastic, well done, i know when we pick up our meds they look overwhelming.. thats a great start, as for Transfer i think it really is what ever your looking for i know we want twins so we put all ours back  (although one would be a blessing) if you only want one and your getting the pdg test and taking your embies to blast i would 100% go for a single transfer.

Jackie, i asked my dr about the PDG test he said its great if like Zirly you really only want a singleton... then he looked at me and said we are putting all your good ones back anyway so there really is no point i think you are the same arnt you?... Casy the PDG test (cant remeber what all the letters stand for) but they take a cell out of the embie and test it for genetic quality they also sex them with this test too (ooo zirly will you be choosing the sex if you have both?)

macca ive already been warned about not doing a HPT... although i wasnt offered a spanking... how are you feeling? no more DC i hope now they are all settled in

big hugs to all...Debz

Thank you all for your support. I am happy about my apt. For those that don't know what pgd is...It is pre genetic diagnosis. This is where they grow the embryos to day three. At that point they remove one cell from each and send them in for testing. They test for such chromosomal abnormalities such as downs, trisomy and other disorders and they can tell you which embryo is which gender. It is used for people who either have a sex-linked hereditary problem (hemophilia for example) and need to only have one gender put in...or if they are prone to having the chromosome disorders listed above, or lastly, if they have unexplained recurrent miscarriages (like Courtney Cox). I am the latter.

Once they determine which embryos are genetically "normal" they will only use those embryos to put back into the woman. They put them in on day five blasts.

I have had four miscarriages, and they do a NUMBER on me! The whack my hormones so out of balance I can hardly recover. I am also high risk once I get pregnant (I have pre-term labor and am on bedrest most my pregnancy etc). So, this is the method for me!

I think because of this...it is preferable to only put one in since they are tested, and less likely to miscarry once they implant.

If you guys have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Have a great night!

Zirly

Lisa bella, it's nice to hear from u again :D . Keep PMA. We are here praying together for ur dream come true.

Macca, I am with Auntie and Jackie. Sound very promising. U will get ur BFP soon. Take a good rest. :D

Welshgirl and Karen Welcome :D :D . U will get so much support here. God bless in everything u do.

Zirly, good news on the follies. Pray for strong BFP for u.

Mia, Good luck on ur ET. Enjoy 2WW. Pray its strong BFP for u. How long after ET u can take HPT? Macca DR said 19, my DR said 17. Why not same?

Jackie Debz... :D How lucky we are to have u here. Debz started this thread and together with Jackie built this thread very amazing. Thanks a lot.

Here come my question... I know Debz already told me about baseline scan. But I confused. as u know I am on BC for 21 days. The baseline scan, is it before or after BC? I did scan. But my DR didn't mention about how many eggs and thickness of uterus. What information do we have from baseline scan? Next time I must consult to u and make a list before I meet my DR :D

Thank u so much. Talk to u soon :D

Luv,
Jemma

Hi Jemma sweetie, i know it gets confusing at first doesnt it, i think (now im not sure as i dont use BC) but i think your first scan was a baseline for your dr to get a starting point for you, then you take BC for surpression?? at your next scan if im right your dr will be looking to make sure you are surpressed its a bit like taking you to zero so they can then start your cycle according to there calculations times and dates it gives them more control over your body, im sure the other ladys who use BC will be able to tell you more... do you start stimms after BC?? ok now im interested

big hug love Debz
