Ahart, glad to hear your babies are growing so well! I have my 28 week scan this week and I can't wait to see how big they are now. I'm not having braxton hicks contractions at all (that I can tell).

Kareen, I'm taking extra iron also. My iron levels were low and I guess the regular prenatal vitamins aren't giving me enough iron. They are re-checking me again this week. I had the gestational diabetes test and passed that.

Lumi, I'm trying to come up with names & finding boy names to be a bit tough. For the past few weeks Tyler & Brady seem to be favorites. Just when I think I might have first names picked now I realize I have to come up with middle names! In the meantime I agree, Baby A & B (or twin A & B) does have a unique ring to it, so that's what I call them.

Chelle, I think you are the farthest along of all of us on this thread. How are you feeling? I went to a mom's of multiples club the other night and 30% of them had their twins in weeks 31 & 32!!! That was a big reality check. I'm in major preparation mode now to get everything ready "just in case"!

Hayley

I had a scan just before 17 weeks (I think) and my girls were so active and kicking legs wide open she said she was just about certain. I was surprised. I thought they would be more likely to def. confirm boys early on.

I guess it depends on how they behave, bless them!

Hi all again

Ahart
With Braxton Hicks, what do they say to do. Is it a case of resting and how long does it last? I know it's common, but not much else!

Kristi
Your names are sweet. Good luck with further thinking for middle names!

Kareen
Your posts make me smile. Your dog sounds so sweet.
I have had some lower back pain and do wonder if is too much rest to blame. Feel like I need to walk around with good posture to keep my back strong. That's much easier said than done as I end up hunched over or leaning right back!

I havent felt a 'kick' but can feel strange sensations when I relax. Sometimes my whole belly shakes or flutters when I lie back but I think it is mainly my heartbeat that does this. The pulse on my belly is so
strong. Anyone else feel/felt that?

Hayley, I had a scan right at 16+ weeks and the doctor wouldn't attempt to tell me what sex they were. He just said it was too early. At my 20 week scan it was very evident (2 boys) and even I could tell what they were without them telling me.

Kareen, yes, my back hurts also. I've just started noticing it more now that I'm in the 3rd T though. And the feet throbbing at night....yes, I have that too! It's the weirdest thing. It's mostly when I'm sleeping and wake up to pee and my feet feel like I've been standing on them all day. My hands have also started doing that in the night...almost like they are swollen and I can't make a fist. I think it's because I turn onto back in my sleep and that cuts off my circulation.

Lumi, yes, the most movement (shakes & flutters) happens to my stomach when I lay back too. That's when I see the most activity from the babies!

Hey Denise, how's it going with the girls??

Chelle, anything new?

28 week scan for me tomorrow! I can't wait!

I was informed to drink more water and rest more...I'm drinking a lot of water now and with the top beanie pressing against my stomach it's hard to drink or eat more. We found out the sex of 1 for sure and the tech stated that she was 80% sure for beanie #2 at our 18wk scan

Ladies, I don't mean to tell you this to scare anyone, but I just got an email and am crying my eyes out. Hope you don't mind me sharing. I met a lady that lives close to my house who is also having twins. We met through the mom's of multiples club. We've been exchanging stories, comparing what we've bought, we were both doing our nursery's, etc.

I was supposed to meet her last week and she didn't show up to dinner. I have been worried ever since. She just let me know that she went into pre-term labor. She was only 23 weeks. One baby was born stillborn, and the other died shortly after. So now she's planning the funerals and burials.

I feel so sad for her. Also, it just scared the crap out of me. I've been so worried lately about pre-term labor. I guess because I just hit the 3rd T. I want to carry these babies & have them born healthy.

I know her story is probably rare. And chances are that all of us will end up with healthy babies. But I can't help but let these stories that I hear lately scare me. This one just really hit home too. Do you guys have fears like this? Is it because I'm having twins, or would I have these fears with single babies also?

Hi Kristi

I am so sorry to hear about your friend. How does anyone get over a thing like that. There is never an easier time to lose a child, whether they are prem babies, 1 month, 1 year or 10, 50 years. Stories like your friend's do scare us but it is just very very bad luck. It's a horrible world we live in and so unfare.
As often as you hear tragic stories, you hear of the miracles too.
My friends sister gave birth prematurely at 27weeks and her baby was about 1lb.
She's now 10 years old and just started to grow boobies. :D
You yourself, must not let this worry you and carry on having a wonderful relaxing enjoyable pregnancy... you are all going to be fine.
How did your scan go... was it fab?
I have a scan in just over a week (I'll be 33weeks) and I am very excited.
My babies have dropped and pressing on my bladder constantly. I am hoping they will stay in there just a little longer :?
I am giving up work next week so that I can rest more. I think it's time I relaxed a little.

Keep smiling and concentrate on you and your babes.

You are so right, Chelle. And I'm much calmer now after my apt this morning. For every sad story, there are probably many more happy, good stories. For some reason it's the sad ones that hit us harder and are the ones we focus on or make us worry.

My doctor said this AM my worries are normally for the 3rd T, especially with multiples. He actually said that if I were to go into labor now (almost 29 weeks) that there's a very strong chance that the babies would survive. So that was reassuring. And I show no signs of pre-labor and my cervix was not dialated at all. So I'm more relaxed now.

The babies slept through the scan (for the first time) so it wasn't as fun as normal. But they are doing good. I go again in 2 weeks for a more indepth scan for measurements, etc.

On a happy note, I worked on the nursery last night and have it about 1/2 done! It's so cute!

Chelle, glad to hear you are able to give up work next week and rest more. Any signs of anything happening anytime soon for you?

Thanks, Kareen. A bit selfish for me to worry about such things....when others have to endure things like that. Worry doesn't do anyone any good. Haven't I learned that by now? :)

Kristi

I am so sorry about your friend and I know it hits harder when it's someone you know. I am sure all mums to be feel anxious but with IVF it's even more of a concern.

I had a check up today and the midwife tried to find both heartbeats. SHe was struggling but said one was on top of the other and judging by my tummy (measuring 25 weeks!!) all was well. The doctor came in and said to her 'she's ivf' and so she persisted until she got the 2nd beat even though it took her ages. I actually wasnt anxious but they were sensitive to the fact that I may be more so than normal.

My friends sister has a baby in Special Care. She was born at 1lb 2oz (she had only just dicovered her preganancy and was suffering pre eclampsia). Long and sad story, but when my friend called to tell me I was so upset and concerned for my babies. I see a cute bunny and cry so real news is almost beyond me at the moment. I think you are coping so well , Kristi, and sound so strong.

Love to all

So I guess each of us has heard worrisome stories of some sort. Lumi, that would be so scary for your friend's sister...1 lb 2 oz. You all made me feel better about realizing my worry is normal. I'm feeling much better today. Worked on plans for both of my baby showers. One of my showers is in 2 weeks!!! The other is in 4 weeks. It's good to focus on positive, fun stuff like that. In the meantime I'm going to eat healthier, eat more protein (get those babies to grow & gain weight) and take it easy more.

Lumi, the extra special treatment with the doctor & m/w was nice! It's nice to know they are sensitive to your feelings/concerns and go the extra mile.
