Julie, I'm in a similar situation as you are for work. I do 3 days a week in the office and 2 days at home (every other day). The days at home are just the break/rest I need to make the 3 days in the office tolerable (like your 1/2 days). So because of that I plan to work as long as I can. You're here in the US like me, so we have the 12 weeks of FMLA leave...where it sounds like some of the other ladies in the countries may have longer leave options than we do. So working as long as I can now will give me the extra $ and ensure my short term disability pay during the 12 weeks. Then I'm not planning to return to work after the 12 weeks.
Great tips on the nursing bras. I've been wondering what to do also.

How's everyone. I'm driving DH nuts!!!!
I have turned into such a crabby person the last week or so. I know, it is just the hormones, etc... but I just can't help myself. I hear stuff coming out of my mouth and I think "Did I just say that???"
We finally finished our baby registry. DH pushed me around the store in a wheel chair... I felt like a real chump as there were MANY women there with bumps MUCH bigger than mine. Oh well... not much you can do when any bit of standing or walking results in contractions. This pre-term labor stuff has been interesting to say the least.
Charlie - what a great bump picture! Love the nursery too. Maybe I will be brave enough to post my bare belly. For now, at least you all can see my face and the covered bump.
Hope everyone is feeling as good as possible. At only 5'1" I feel like I'm running out of room. My niece (7 years old) thinks I'm squishing the baby and that's why it wants to come out now. Hmmm, maybe she is right
Hi Julie, our poor DH'S, i had about a month of really bad mood swings, apparantly! but seems to have past now.
Can i just ask you about your pre term labour, as for along while now i have had a lot of braxton hix', about 5-6 an hour, but last night they started to come every 3-5 mins for about 2 hours, so dh called maternity unit, and told us to go in, so in we went after abit of panic from me, and i went on a moniter and waited for the doctor, 2 hours later, and still regular contractions, the doctor examined me and said i was not dialated and cervix was long and posterior, so yes all was ok, but they wanted me to stay in, well this was 1.30 am and i was exshausted and disscharged myself, maybe not the best idear, but i just wanted to go to bed, so did you have this or were you diallating?
Any info would be really appreciated as im still contracting but only 1 in 15 mins.
Thanks charlie and richard
Hi Charlie -
Your "symptoms" sound almost identical to mine. I was having them about every 10 minutes for a couple weeks and then when they got to every 4 minutes we went to the hospital. At the hospital, they gave me an injection to slow them down. That worked, but the next night we ended up right back there again.
I am lucky that I am not dialating at all and cervix seems to be just as it should be. But, in order to get down the # of contractions, the only thing that works is medication. I take terbutaline and am supposed to not do ANYTHING besides lots of sitting. The medication is actually an asthma med, but it is widely used here in the U.S. for pre-term labor.
The doc is keeping a close eye on me. I have appts every week and a fetal fibronectin test every 2 weeks. That test is supposed to tell you if you will go into labor in the next 14 days. So far, all is well. Once I get to 36 weeks, I can stop taking the meds and go back to normal activity.
Hope you are hanging in there with yours. I find mine to be painful at night (they usually wake me up) but during the day they are just mildly uncomfotable. The doc says that they have no effect on the baby so that is reassuring.
Hello everyone
Hope is okay if I pop over. Can't believe its week 29! It's a bit scary joining a new thread, like arriving at a party, and you cant quite see who all the people in the room are!
Are you guys feeling crazy karate kicks yet? With the front placenta its been fairly mild so far and then in the last week its really crazy! Big old kicks in the guts and looks like Alien 3 in there most of the time my belly is moving so much! I love it!! Hee hee.
Kirsti, lucky girl! Nice life change with no work for a while around the corner! Am in relatively new job still (one year) and planning on heading back after 6 months, (soooooooobbbb!!!) but think I have found a way to maybe stay home a little longer working from home doing some contract work for different part of the company. I cross my fingers as we speak as had to fill in the child care application placement form for the waiting list today and is more than gutting to have to think NOW about putting little bubs in day care at 6 months!
Don't worry bout the bump Bella! I posted on the 2nd tri thread on this one, coz was having all the same fears. My m/w told me to reply to all the "are you having twins" comments with a no, just growing a big beautiful baby. Hmmmm not sure bout the effectiveness of this retort though, especially given I'd quite like to squeeze out a nice wee narrow shouldered little baby!! Not a huge one with polynesian genes! Have my DH to thank there.
Do you have an updated bump size to post on photo bucket? Am sure we are both just freaking out without needing too!
take care all

Mel, FABULOUS picture! Seriously, you look great! Both your bump & your glowing face. It's so good to put a face to your name after all this time. Yes, we do have a great group of us that have been together since the beginning. It's been so fun exchanging thoughts, feelings, and info with all of you! Not too much longer now and we'll be sharing details of the birth and everything that comes after! WOW!
I posted my last pic at 25 weeks. I'll do another pic in about a week when I hit 30 weeks.

Just popped in to say hi, I'm always reading to see how you're getting on, you are still way ahead of me.
I have two little girls (one 3 and one 4) both were pre-term (35 weeks), one was a "natural birth" although she had shoulder dystocia and the other was a c section. I am diabetic and you have big babies - they were 9lb 1oz and 7lb 12oz.
As for breasts, once the milk came in (I think about 4 days after giving birth) I looked like Dolly Parton but they do go down after a few days - luckily for your arms as they go out like Popeye's as there's no room at the side, so the bras you are buying should be ok.
If any of you have any questions regarding diabetes, pre-term delivery, c section etc, just mail me and I will be happy to help if I can.
One little tip, the baby's mobile's that you put on the cot, I used to wind the music bit up and put it on my bump (the dolphin music is great but how many of you will listen to it once the babe's here?), when they were born and they heard it, they used to love it, it really comforted them!
Best of luck for you last few weeks, try and enjoy it.
Jo

I finally decided to join the 3rd trim bumps. It seems almost unreal...just yesterday we all were just starting and here we are nearly 10 wks away from the special day....I got a little scared the other night and started crying..poor DH...I'm a ball of emotions at this time. My little ones kick something fierce....My fear was/is the unknown..never had a c-section before, although I had an epidural with my 4 yr old daughter...I hate being stuck with needles. I believe that I failed my glucose test that I took last week....
How often are you all seeing the doctor?

Well i think i have entered a hormonal phase, have been getting stressed about anything eg. hubby leaving his dirty cup by the computer , you would of thought it was the worse thing ever the way i was stomping about (good job no-one else was in). I can see i am not the only one who is very hormonal, so i feel a bit better!!!
A hart - welcome over here, why do you think you failed the glucose test? would your hospital not of rung you straight away with the results if you had? I see my doctor every 2 weeks after my growth scans, which is great.
Mel - great picture, nice to put a face to the name.
bella - looking forward to seeing your photos
I hope everyone else is alright,

I'm seeing the doctor every 2 weeks now. That just started after going every 3 weeks during the 2nd T. Thought I might be more than usual though because of twins.
I can't believe 30 weeks is about to hit a few of us! Where is time going?

Sue: The labs here don't send results asap, usually we receive them 2 weeks afterwards.
KrisitiA: I just started the every 3wks, next Tues....My U/S are being scheduled every 2 wks now. I feel so huge and look it also...I'm praying that I can last until 38 wks...10 more weeks. I have my baby shower on 9/16..Our church is giving us one. We have not started on the nursery as of yet and I just registered at several stores.
Where did you all find your double strollers? I'm looking for the one that we can put both car seats in, any suggestions. So far online, I've come across a stroller base that you can attach 2 car seats to at about $99.00/us

Ahart, aren't you excited about the shower? I have one on 9/9 and another on 9/23. I'm getting pretty uncomfortable and usually in pain (that same side muscle pain I've had for months now is getting worse). Hoping I can hang in too! I bought my double stroller at Babies R Us. There were only 2 Graco brand strollers that fit both the carseats in them. The stroller is $150US and each carseat/carrier with the base is $89US.
