Theresa,

I am so sorry. It isn't fair is it. I think mine will be a BFN too, I have all the right symptoms that AF is about to show.

Take care of your self and your DH. Come back to us when you are ready....we are all here for you.

Its not good news, I'm afraid guys. BFN is official. I don't know what the faint line was last week but I'd say a faulty test was to blame. Horrible HPT!

So we have to wait a month to get the Clomid out of my system and then we start our first IVF cycle. Thanks for all your continuing support.

Hi everyone

Em and Theresa so sorry about your results-I know nothing can be said to make it any better but I'm thinking of you both.

My cycle has not gone as smoothly as I would have liked-came very close to being cancelled-but got there in the end and am having pick up on monday.

Fingers crossed I get a few more eggs this time (only 2 usable last time!)

Hi guys - I'd love to join this thread. I've met Em before - we were on our 2ww in June.

So sorry to hear your news today Em but don't give up - our time will come.

We were all set to start our thaw cycle a few weeks ago (have 5 little frosties waiting for us since June) but my scan showed I have a tiny polyp (1cm) which doc says has to go before he's prepared to put anything back - he says everything has to be perfect. So I have surgery on 31st - apparently it is simple and I am only out for 10 mins. I'm still nervous though - then it's another 6 weeks we can start again.
Anyone else had this type of surgery?

Hi Angie,

Glad you have joined us. Thank you for your thoughts, it has been a rough day. Good luck for your FET. What are your dates? I am set to start my 1st IVF in about 28 days.

Am feeling flat. I had a young female patient have an anaphylactic reaction to the xray dye I injected her with today and she nearly died. We had to give her adrenaline (ER-style) and call 000 to get her rushed to Royal Brissy Hosp. It was all pretty scary. It was my first ever reaction (they occur 1 in 250,000) and I guess after 10 years in the game, you could say my time was due but it happened 10 mins after I got my BFN results so I was shaken to start with. I hope she is ok.

Did anyone see the Jessica Rowe interview on the Today show? I missed it as I had to go into the city for a doc appointment. How long did they try? And what did they say was their problem? I am so sorry I missed it, I kinda feel like she is one of us now....

Hope you are all having great weekends, and special hugs to Therese and her DH.

Hi guys,

Em and Teresa, so sorry to hear your news. Suckful time isn't it? The only words of advice I can gve is to stay positive, know that it WILL happen, and that when these babies arrive to all of us, know that they will be truly loved and never taken for granted. We'll all be great mums.

Em, your anaphylactic experience sounds bloody awful, had no idea tis ever happened, seems so routine doesn't it? Did you actually have to inject the needle yourself or do you call for a code red (or whatever your hospital calls it??). You did well to stay calm under the circumstances. I didn't see the Jessica Rowe interview, my neighbour was telling me about it though, apparently it was ther fourth IVF cycle, she is 36 and was really emotional about beng pregnant. Your right, I feel like she is very much one of us and wish her all the best for her pregnancy and birth. No idea what their fertility issue was though, I'd be interested to know!

Angie, welcome to our thread. Sorry to hear about your polyp and about imminent surgery, I have no experience with this but do know that the docs generally want everything to be perfect before they do transfer, and hey, if it ups your chances then I say go for it!! Where do you liver and what clinic are you under??

Tiger, how are you going?? not long now until your holiday!!

I'm going well. Four days now until the c-section, so getting kind of nervous really. All good though, saw my lovely obs yesterday and he is very reassuring and gentle, a lovely man really! Can't wait to meet our new family member now!!

Take care all
Belinda

Hi guys,
Just found this: It doesn't say why she was on IVF, but a lovely end to the story hey!!

Jessica Rowe has spoken for the first time about her emotional journey to conceive by in-vitro fertilisation (IVF).

In a tearful pre-recorded on-air interview with her Today show co-host Karl Stefanovic, screened this morning, Rowe revealed the hurdles she faced to begin a family with her TV reporter husband Peter Overton.

"As a woman you assume that everything is going to be okay, that you will become a mum ... but to find out I might not be able to become a mother was really confronting," the 36-year-old said on the Nine Network morning show.

"There is a part of you that does think, 'What is wrong with me?'. All around you friends are falling pregnant ... when you are struggling yourself, that can be really quite hurtful."

After four IVF attempts Rowe is expecting her first child on January 22.

Rowe said she and Overton, a reporter on the network's 60 Minutes, have wanted a child since their relationship began in mid-2001.

They married at Bondi on January 12, 2004.

"When we got together, quite early on we knew that family was going to be part of our journey and once we got married we very much wanted to start a family," she said.

"When we first started trying I was 34. We both knew time is of the essence and we didn't want to waste any time. We had found each other, it was time to begin our family."

However, a series of hurdles followed for the former Ten Network newsreader, who switched to the Today show on January 30.

The breakfast show has been struggling in the ratings against its Seven Network rival, while Rowe has been widely criticised for her giggling on-air style and other presentation flaws.

She also learned through court action last month that Nine boss Eddie McGuire had wanted to sack her.

The Nine executive later expressed his "full support" for her.

Rowe has also told The Australian Women's Weekly the stress of work contributed to difficulties falling pregnant.

"Some of the criticism was cruel and it hurt like hell and I didn't expect it," Rowe said.

"I was startled by how vitriolic some of it was, and how relentless. Of course, all of that was going on while we were going through IVF.

"They were searching for a chink in my armour, but I wasn't going to let them win. I wouldn't give them the satisfaction."

Now four months pregnant, Rowe said "nothing beats" starting a family.

"It is a miracle," she told Stefanovic.

"It's been so hard fought and hard won this baby. I think you are such a resilient soul (the baby), because we wanted you for so long.

"It puts things into perspective because you really do realise nothing else matters.

"Everything could collapse and fall in a heap, but that would be okay because I have my husband and we are going to have a baby."

Hi there,

I saw the Jessica i/v - I must say she went up in my estimation as in the past I've find her annoying. I admire her for sharing it on national tv and I think her reasons were genuine. She finished by saying if at all possible just keep trying, you must not give up.

So Em - my FET will be around end Oct /early Nov as I have to recover from this stupid surgery. Can't believe I have to go under the knife for some silly polyp that isn't causing me any side effects but c'est la vie.

Hi Guys,

Bel - Thank you so much for posting the interview....it brought tears. It just goes to show that infertility is not picky over who he chooses to strike- all the money in the world can't give you everything. GOOD LUCK for this week...I don't know how you are managing to sleep - you must be so excited!

Mel - Good luck for pick up tomorrow. I hope you have 16 eggs. Just plucked that number out of the air 'cos it sounds like a lot without gettting into hyperstim territory. Can't wait to hear how you get on.

Angie - Sorry about you polyp. But once they remove it your success rate will increase hugely. Good luck for thursday!

Jeepers! What a big week for this thread:

Mon - Mel's Pick up.
Wed - ? Mel transfer (do you do it that way?)
Wed - Bel's angel will be born.
Thurs - Angie's op.

Hi Tiger and everyone,
Welcome back to Melbourne. Did I read you are going to Melb IVF at Freemasons ?- we go there too. My doc is Gronow. I have found the whole set up there pretty good - although Dr G is a very busy man that's for sure. Are you here from UK for treatment ? How long are you over for.

Good luck with everything - hope jet lag not too bad.

Hi Everyone

Everything went well today, 9 eggs which is so much better then last time (4 with only 2 being able to be used) I actually hadn't realised it had been done when I woke up and asked the nurse if I should be awake for this!! quite funny at the time

They kept me a lot longer this time and I had to have IV albumin for and hour before I could go. not sure why...anyone have any idea?

They will keep 2 out and freeze the rest and hopefully at least 1 will get to blastocyst for a transfer on Saturday.

Hope everyone else doing well and thanks for the good luck messages!

Hi Mel,

I had albumin after my pick up too, I had 16 eggs and I remember asking what it was for, but have absolutely no idea what the nurse told me, except that it was something to do with reducing the likelihood of OHSS because I had so many follies. Damn anaethetic drugs LOL!

Good luck.

Em and Theresa - I'm so sorry to hear about your BFN's. Take good care of yourselves ok?

Em - what an awful day to have that anaphylactic reaction hapen too - you must be shellshocked. I hope you are feeling better day by day.

Welcome home Tiger.

Welcome to the Thread Angie.

Good luck for your Caeser Bel.

Be well everyone.

hi guys,

I think albumin does something to thin the blood, keep things circulating and replaces protein that has leached out. I had an IV of this when I was hospitalised for 3 days in June when i had the hyper stim. I vaguely remember that explanation. I was quite dehydrated so I think it helped with that too.

Good work on the pick up Mel - that's a good number. :D
