Is anyone at the Hammersmith Hospital, Wolfson

Post by vickib »

Hi

Is anyone at the Hammersmith Hospital Wolfson Clinic?

I have just been sufing the net trying to find as much information on IVF/ICSI. (I am due to start my first cycle of ISCI at the end of September) when I found a site revealing IVF clinics and there overall percentage success rate for live births. I was gutted to find the Hammersmith was 50th in the table with only a 15.9% average of live births.

I choose the Hammersmith because of its reputation and Lord Winston, now I am completely freaked wondering if I have made the wrong choice.

CAN ANYONE HELP

Vicki Bxx

Vicki, I've been at the Hammersmith but got pg naturally waiting for a second cycle of IVF. I previously had two cycles of IUI before getting pg naturally with my daughter. Yes, I think they think I'm a fraud too!

I've always found them to be very helpful and v thorough. I think the tables are a bit misleading as they are not always looking at the same things, ie some clinics will only take patients without certain difficulties or who are under a certain age and they are commercial environments who are in effect, advertising their service.

I would go for somewhere that is close to where you live as it's a pain trying to get to early morning appts for blood tests or scans when they are miles away.

Good Luck, Nicola.

Hi Nicola

Thanks for calming me, I think I just freaked when I saw these stats I’m such a worrier and I’m getting more and more nervous each day.

I’m at the Hammersmith and due to start injecting 29th September. The Hammersmith is not that close to my home but its easy to get to by train, they accept NHS patients (I have two goes on the NHS)and I a big fan of Winston.

Congrats on your daughter.

Vicki B XX

Good luck, the nursing staff and reception staff are particularly nice, and the doctors don't mind you 'phoning them for the daftest questions. Nicola.
