Post by TansRN »

Hello all
I was just wondering if anyone out there has done a FET for the first time with a BFP result! I had a m/c at 12 weeks and I am looking forward to doing a FET. Any positive stories are welcomed and needed at this point. Please jump in and share your wonderful story with me to encourage all of us!!!

I don't have a personal story. I work at a clinic. I've seen many patients succeed with frozens after failure with fresh. Happens all the time. Maybe 100 of those per year at my clinic.

We can prepare the endometrium better in a frozen cycle, because there are no elevated hormone levels from ovarian stimulation. There is one published account of a woman who had 10 consecutive fresh cycle failures, with 71 transferred embryos, and then a success with her first frozen embryo transfer. My point is, although embryo freezing has its challenges, it has advantages too.

Sorry to hear about the loss. A loss that late is pretty rare, less than 10% I'm sure. So don't be discouraged by a fluke like that. It's not your fault. It just happens sometimes.

Off the top of my head, I can think of at least one patient who had a late loss like that. She then had an FET cycle and goes by "mommy" now.

Thank you so much for your encouragement! I really needed to read that this morning. Thank you so much. I feel like a weight has been lifted that I will never have my baby. I feel like you have given me hope for my next try. Thanks for taking the time to send me that wonderful wonderful message. You have put a smile on my face that has been lacking all week and this is the first time I have felt really hopful about my upcoming FET. Thank you so much.

Update!

Post by TansRN »

Hello

I just wanted to let you know that I went to the RE today and he said that this was all a weird fluke thing and he said that at 12 weeks it happens less than 2.8%. I guess I am relieved by this. I am obviously hoping that it doesnt happen again. He said that so far my blood work is going well and he said that I can start BCP's next month but I told him that I want to wait until November and transfer in December. He recommended that we thaw all three blasts. We have a Grade A 7 day, a grade A 6 day and a grade B 6 day. He said that they are all really good and that we should go for it. He felt really bad about the m/c. I am glad to just have a plan. I go to see him at the end of Oct. to talk about all of the lab results that I got. I didnt bring them and we need to talk about them before we begin. He said that even if my blood work doesnt show a coagulation problem he is going to probably put me on some kind of medication. I didnt get specific with all the meds or calendar just yet but I will at the end of October. I am so happy to get going again as well as scared to death about making to 12 weeks and beyond. It will be hard. I am all about bringing it on at this point. He also wants to make sure that my B/P is well controlled. I just changed medications from Procardia to Aldomet so I am hoping this does the trick. I will get more details later in the month.

The day of blastulation (day 6, etc.) is important information in fresh cycles, because the embryos need to meet a window of endometrial receptivity that is advanced about 2 days by ovarian stimulation.

This is not a problem in FET cycles. So blastulation day is much less relevant. Those day 6's are just as good as day 5's.

Tanya--i just wanted to share a little story about your previous question of a bfp with fet.
I do daycare for a lady that went through ivf 4 years ago. She got pg with her first fresh round--like you though she miscarried. Much earlier then you however, i believe 7 weeks. She then took a 2 month break and tried a FET and got pg the first round again. Needless to say i now do daycare for her 3 year old twins. : ) I think like ghost said fet have a great success rate as your body doesn't have all the extra hormones floating around. I am willing to bet that it will work for you the first round again and baby will snuggle in for the long haul. Good luck. bridget 6w4days pg

Hi All

I am a newbie on here, 30 years old and my DH and I have to go for ICSI tx due male infertility

Had my egg retrieval today and they took out 21 eggs but will not transfer due to the high number and high risk of getting ohss - we are so disppointed as we were really looking forward to the transfer (and hopeful BFP!)

I was about to post on here to see what success rates were for FET, but I seen this post and thought I'd join this one - it is very very encouraging to hear that we have a good chance with our frosties - our clinic say the success rate with them is just the same as fresh embies

Good luck to all of you going thru this very emotional journey and I hope we all get our BFPs very soon

Sorry to here your news Tanya. I will be joining you with FET in November as well. I also m/c on last attempt. My clinic has advised me that i should have a better chance with FET as i have immune probs and the stims agrivates this so without out all the drugs i should have a better enviroment!!!!!!

I have done Fet before with no sucess but i ws not getting treatment for my nkc then.

Kirsty best of luck with your FET as well. I hope you are drinking lots of water and having lots of rest to keep ohss away!!!

luvbabies best of luck to you too and take it easy on your 2ww.

nene dont worry too much i had cramps all the way through and it was the embryos implanting. You need to keep calm as stress is not good. Best of luck. Let us know how you get on
