Hives??

Post by LisaB75 »

Hey everyone. I am 25 weeks pregnant - and last night I noticed red bumps all over both of my sides (from under my arms down to my hips), with a few spreading to my abdomen. They look like mosquito bites or hives, yet they do not itch at all. Today I noticed I am getting them on my arms.

I have read that this can be common in pregnancy - yet everything I have read says they itch like crazy and these do not itch at all!

I have not eaten anything out of the ordinary, or changed soap or detergent or anything like that. I am not one to usually get allergic reactions.

I put a call in to my doctors office and am waiting on a call back.

Do any of you have any experience or knowledge about this? I appreciate any feedback you could give.

Thanks!

Lisa,

You skin becomes so much more sensitive, so it could just be that. If in any doubt though - there's no harm in phoning the midwife to check, especially if they are getting worse. I get hives when I'm a bit stressed, so if it is that, the more you worry, the worse it could get...

Hope you get the answers you want...

Hi Lisa, sorry to hear about your discomfort... Just wondering whether it could be eczema? My dermatologist told me that pregnancy may cause eczema for some, I think they can control it with prescribed steriods that are safe for baby.

Good luck, hope the problem is resolved soon.
