Newbie on 2 Weeks Wait

Post by newbie_rose »

Hi Guys!

A friend recommended that I join a message board group while on my two weeks wait. And from the posts that I read so far, it looks like you guys are very supportive.

It's my first IVF after three failed artificial insemminations. Had my egg retrieval last Aug. 28 and transfer on Sept. 2 (Was able to freeze 4 blasts). I have my pregnancy test scheduled for Sept. 11. Please pray that it works :) But waiting is hard!

My questions are:
1. During the 2WW, are there common symptoms that the IVF worked?
2. I heard that some that get pregnant have spotting. I havent had any yet, should I be concerned?
3. I was impatient and tried a home pregnancy test yesterday. It came out negative. Does it mean that the IVF didnt work :( ?

Sorry if my first post is long. This 2 week wait seems like eternity!

Welcome Newbie!

The 2ww is the worst. For me, I didn't have any spotting at all. I was almost hoping I would so that I could have had some idea that something was happening! Silly, I know.

My 2ww started with bedrest (24hrs.)and couchrest (3 days after that) and then moderate activity. I had very swollen ovaries making my belly big and uncomfortable. It was interesting for me, I remember that I got queasy the night of the third day on couchrest. After that I was queasy almost every day after that. I know that the PIO shots didn't help, but I am convinced that it started the moment of implantation  .

Towards the end of the 2ww I had AF like cramps. My breasts were a tiny bit sore and swollen, but they didn't hurt like I expected them to. They still don't, and I am ok with that!

Oh yes, one last thing. I DID take the evil hpt. I took 3 of them. Every other day for the last week of my wait. I just wanted to see them, and I had them from old ovulation kits. They all had faint positives, but they were VERY faint. I saved one and took it a week after my BFP, just for the joy of seeing it turn after all of those negative tests over the years.

Hang in there!

Hi Lucyluna,
Congratulations! And thanks for replying too. Yeah, the HPT negative result was a downer. Mine did not have faint positive. But saw some posts of people that had the same thing and still got pregnant..so i guess i just have to wait.

It is way too soon for you to get even a faint positive. I waited about 10 or 11 days before I tried. If you just transferred on the 2nd then it has only been about 4-5 days. You have to give it time to make the HCG!

Mine may have only showed because I had a pretty high HCG level. Lots of people have lower levels and theirs don't show before the blood test. You should still have tons of hope!

Rose I am anxious just to start sims I CAN NOT imagin how hard the 2 ww is. I plan on working allot, I have a sit down job, to keep my mind busy. The more down time I have the more time seems to drag. :-(

Best wishes to you Rose and I will be praying for you!!!!

Had a lady in the office for a pregnancy test last year insisting she knew her body and that she was absolutely not pregnant. She goes by "mommy" now.

You cannot tell. That's why we need the blood samples.

Implantation, if it occurs, is about 6 or 7 days after fertilization. That is true whether they transfer day 2, day 3, or blastocysts. The embryo must grow to blastocyst, then hatch out of the zona pellucida, and only then can it attach to the uterus.

About 4 days after that, the first hints of an hCG rise can show up in blood serum analysis, wlthough they often do not show up until a few days later. I suspect these early levels are too low to pick up with an HPT.

Hello,

How's the wait going? It's awful isn't it. I notice that your transfer was on the 2nd and your test is on the 11th. That's only 9 days after transfer so I doubt even if you do a HPT on the day of your test it will come up positive. You definately will have to wait for the blood results.

My clinic only does HPT's but make you wait until 16 days after transfer. I started doing them about 8 days after (way too early) I finally got a BFP 10 days after. There are some people who do do the HPT on the day of their beta test and it's negative only to find the beta is positive. I know I can't comment as I'm guilty but I would avoid them unless your clinic has told you to use one and the only use it on the day you are supposed to!

I had cramping from egg collection and this continued until about week 11. I never had any spotting.

Best of luck to you for a positive result. No more HPT's!!

Jo
