Confession regarding my craziness

Post by 31single »

ok folks ... so, I decided to try to have a child on my own about 6 months ago. And the clinic I chose (after thorough research) had a 3 month waiting list for the first consultation (though they said I can begin right after that if all goes well). That appointment is in 2 weeks.

So in these months, I've had all this baby energy. I've read dozens of pregnancy/IVF/singleMom books. I've stuck to a perfect diet, taken prenatals, etc. etc. And I still haven't had my first real appointment beyond just talking to nurses by phone ...

But here's the worst part. I've already crocheted 3 baby blankets. Not only am I not pregnant, but I haven't even STARTED a regimen yet. But, I don't know ... I just feel like I want to do absolutely everything ... baby occupies my every waking thought. And there's so little I can do about it ... so I crochet ... um .... but I feel good doing it. I KNOW baby is still in dreamland ... and yet, as I crochet, I feel like I'm doing what I can ... all I can at the moment ... And then I rationalize that it's not sooo crazy, because happy baby thoughts will get my hormones right and help IVF (right ...?). So really ... just how nuts am I? Can ANYONE relate?

I think at some point I'll have a collection large enough to have to start sharing with the lucky to-be moms on this board ...

Hello 31Single...

To start with...you are not nuts..when a woman is ready for a baby then she is READY for a baby! and whatever happens just blame in on the hormones...it works with me :)

I did 4 IVF so far...I am not so motivated as before...but I can relate to what u are going through because I was like that when I first strated the cycles!

But always remember never to give up and always keep the positive vibes as it will help you be more relaxed hence increase ur chances!

Hopefully you will use all your corchets blankets!!!

Good Luck!

Patie ... stay motivated, because a future bundle of yours now comes with one of 31single's awesome handmade baby blankets :) You are the first and only one on here to tell me I'm not necessarily nuts. It actually does mean a lot.

So thank you. Here I am, single, going forward with this alone ... and crocheting for a non-existant baby. Prior to being in this spot myself, I'd definitely think someone doing what I'm doing was ready to be locked up. Now, I'm thinking, so long as I haven't bought a crib ... ;)

I have been ready for so long.

Btw ... I just made this, and it came out really cute

Hello Lady!

I checked the link you sent me and I found 3 Ponchos...didn't know which one it is ...but they are all adorable!!!

How can you resist knitting or doing crochet to these little ones??? I had a tendency to buy shoes for babies...I fought it because my husband wouldn't let me :( but they are so cute!

I'd suggest to go easy on buying the crib!! at least after u get the appointment :)

Good luck and let me know of any updates with your appointment!

Goodluck!

Hi 31single!

Goodluck with your appointment. If your doctor has a waiting list, then they must be good. Your subject was interesting! I myself is going crazy with this two week wait period. Ive been driving my husband crazy as well obsessing about the result of my future pregnancy test.

Crazy thing I do instead of crocheting (I wish I can learn to be good at that)..I go to online baby stores and target..trying to build a wishlist of what I would want to buy or include in my baby registry if Im pregnant. I even have the crib and the bedding picked! I also bookmarked different strollers (one if I have multiples and some if I have singletons).

Anyways...my point is :) You're not the only one. I bet crocheting helps you relax...Also as a friend of mine told me when I shared what Ive been doing during this wait..."Eventually, you'll have babies...so at least you're prepared when the time comes"

So again goodluck!!!! Will keep you in my prayers.

Newbie rose

Your post has just made me feel so much better. I have also spent time looking at online stores planning what I would buy. I know it seems mad doesnt' it but when you have waited for so long for something it does start to get to you. I would love to read some books on pregnancy as well but have managed to hold off on them. I have been watching some of the parenting channels on TV though. Well hopefully it won't be long before we are both shopping for real.

Take care
Angela

Thanks Newbie_Rose! Nice to hear from someone who can relate ...

Wow .. pregnancy test so soon for you. Every minute must drag on ... I'm really hoping for you!

So, do share ... :) What kind of stroller are you going to get? :)

I've already figured out baby's college saving plan :) (527 tax-free growth ... great US govt program)

Hi Angela and 31single!

Yeah....every minute drags! I even bought a PSP and finished the SIMS 2 game while on bed rest....now im trying Virtual Villagers from Yahoo Games.

I just cant concentrate on anything. Went on a personal leave at work for a week...Hubby still treats me like a baby :) Been cooking and doing all the chores..so that's cool.

But this 2ww is really dragging :) The toughest part so far of my IVF cycle.

About the stroller...i have the Graco Duo Glider if I get twins :) And another Graco brand if I get a singleton. Hubby encourages it....he said that we'll eventually get babies so its ok to plan ahead.

I have a romantic date planned for Monday as well....whatever the outcome....it can either be a celebration dinner or a thanksgiving/appreciation dinner for my husband's great support through this 2ww.

We also agreed on trying another IVF/FET asap if this first cycle doesnt work.

Please include me in your prayers! Two more days!
