waiting on m/c

Post by angelm »

At 8 weeks an u/s showed that the heartbeat had stopped. I am currently waiting on m/c. How long does it usually take to happen? Is there anything I can do to hurry the process?

I am so sorry this is happening to you. I have recently just had a M/C and there is no set rule of when it will happen. I went in for a D&C and had my premeds and went for a scan prior to op during the scan i started to bleed and the consultant decided that i was about to m/c naturally so he did not do the op. Dont panic if you bleed a lot and for a long period of time. I bled for 2 weeks and that is pretty normal seemingly. Some only bleed for a few days so it all depends.

If you have any other questions just ask.

I am so sorry again and hope it starts soon so that you can start to get to terms with it all.

So very sorry to hear, Angel. I had the exact experience (no heartbeat at 8 week scan after seeing heartbeat prior.) I had a D&C the next day, so I can't tell you what to expect when waiting. You might speak with your doctor about a D&C if the waiting is too emotionally stressful for you.

Again, my thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time.

Thanks for all your responses. My RE said that it was probably due to chromosomal abnormalities since it happened in the first trimester. I am still waiting on m/c. I'm going to call the office tomorrow and get an appointment for D&C. When I'm not talking about it I'm okay, but as soon as I start I can't stop crying. I'm sad about my loss, but at the same time I'm eager to try again. How long do you have to wait after D&C to do a FET cycle? Are there a lot of success stories with FET after D&C?

I am so sorry about you loss. I had the same thing to happen to me, so I know how you feel. I had a D&C and had them to send the baby off for genetic testing to see what happened. Mine came back normal chromosomes and a girl. So since it came back normal my clinic did blood work on me and we found out that I am borderline for clotting issues. Borderline is not suppose to affect pregnancy but they are going to put me on baby aspirin on my next cycle anyway and then retest me if I get a positive to see if I need a blood thinner along with the baby aspirin.

I know they usually don't do tests after 1 miscarriage but I insisted because who wants to go thru 3 and then find out that a simple baby aspirin could have prevented it all...

Take care of yourself!!

I too had them send off for chromosome testing after the m/c and found it was trisomy 14 (extra chromosome 14, basically) and that the baby would never had made it term. The genetist also said it's not a trisomy likely to repeat, which made me feel somewhat better. It's something else to at least discuss with your doctor when you contact them.
