hi all, i'm new here

Post by leann1982 »

Hi all,

Just wanted to share my experience in ttc so far. I have been ttc for approx 2 and a half years with no sucess. It took me until 6 months ago to actually go to the doctors to try to establish what the problem is. Many bloods tests done up to now but thats about it. Had my first appointment with a specialist about 3 months ago all blood tests coming back clear. Specialist told me I will only see him every 4 months - great :-(

Anyway got my next appointment Oct 12th, having a scan so hopefully might spot something. Anyway, I was advised by the doc to stop smoking, which I have, and to loose weight, still working on that one. I have also started having accupuncture. Had 5 sessions so far and I think its brill.

Basically I have really irregular periods, sometimes I go without for 12 months sometimes 3 months, unfortunatley there is no system for me to get my head around. Anyway, just keeping my fingers crossed that this next appointment will shed some light.

Why does it feel that the world and its best friend are pregnant on the days when you are just aching to feel the movement inside your belly of a little life which you have created. Damn, one of those days for me today. Sister in law has had a little girl last week. So, so happy for them but can't help feeling a touch of the green eyed monster. I know I would be a wonderful mum. Just hope I get the chance SOON.....

Hope to hear from you all soon,

Best wishes,

Leann.

Hi Leann

and welcome to this wonderful forum. It has saved my life at times!
I joined here in the middle of my two closest friends telling me they were both pregnant the same week and its the people here that kept me sane. My friends expected me to be jumping for joy for them, and on the surface I was, but underneath I felt so much pain I would wake up crying. So don't feel bad for feeling the way you do. Its normal but I warn you, most people who have not suffered infertility do not understand how we feel.

It took me two and a half years to get pregnant and I believe it was acupuncture that helped in the end. I was on fertility drugs but it wasn't until I went to an acupuncturist specilising in fertility that I finally got pregnant. She has also helped me with pregnancy symptoms like severe headaches so I know it has a positive effect on me.

I think my blood tests were all normal too but when I had a hycosy (scan where they put dye inside to check uterus and tubes etc.) it showed polycystic ovaries. This can stop you ovulating. I'm not saying you have this too but its a possibility.
Its a good sign your blood tests were all clear I think.

A good book to read is Zita West, in all the book shops. It made me understand things better.

We all understand how you feel. You have come to the right place.

love Terri

Hi Terry,

Thanks so much for the reply. My specialist has told me about that test where they put dye into you. He said that depending on the outcome of the normal scan on my tummy, next month, thats likley to be the next step.

Its really nice to speak to somebody that has been in the same boat as me, although I would not wish it on anybody. Most of my family just look at the opposite sex and fall pregnant so nobody really understands how it feels.

Me and my fella have bought our house both have great jobs and this is the obvious next step. I'm almost 25 now and feel the the time is right.

Well I am keeping my fingers crossed and just praying that I wont be waiting too much longer. Thank you so much for your reply it really means a lot.

Many thanks,

Leann x

Hi Souris,

Thanks for your reply. My dh has not yet had a semen analysis but that is next on the list, he has to attend my next appointment in Oct with me. However, he did get his ex pregnant twice. Unfortunatley it didn't work out either way. She was in an road accident with the first pregnancy and lost twins and the second was a m/c.

He has been really good too, he has cut down on his smoking, is eating more healthily and rarely has a drink now. I know it is me with the problem but he is still trying to be good to help me I guess. Don't know what I'd do without him he is my rock.

Thanks again Souris, I hope your right and once my periods are sorted out all runs smoothly. Guess we will just have to wait and see, and keep our fingers crossed of course

Hi Leann,

Welcome to these wonderful boards, I only joined about three weeks ago and I am completley addicted to them, all the people here are wonderful and will help you alot on this journey!
Your post was quite interesting to me as you explained alot of things that I too have gone through!
I used to live in Manchester but moved to Glasgow when I got married and started TTC straight away, like you I do not have periods and knew that that was going to be a problem, when we stared attending the doctor we only saw them every 3 months at first and then after all the routine tests I went for the laparoscopy and that confirmed that I had PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome) and then my treatment has gone from there.
I don't know that this is what you have but I too was told to try and keep my weight down and that would help alot, That is easier said than done with PCOS but I have learnt ways and can now maitain a reasonable weight.
I have heard lot's of great things about accupuncture and deffinatley think it is a good choice, I am hoping to start once I find a clinic that specialises in fertility.
I am 26 and like you I feel like everyone aound me is pregnant or have babies, for women in our position I think this is completly normal, my Brother and his wife just had a baby and then two weeks later my Husbands sister had one, it is the hardest thing in the world to deal with because I love my Niece's and Nephews to bit but am so jealous of them.
My next test comes this weekend as I am coming down to Manchester for our Niece's Christening and we are god parents!!!!
Alot of the time I get the feeling that people dont really understand what we are going through because we are only young! I dont know if you get this, but I feel like they think we have got ages to try ond so it is not that bad, but it doesnt matter how old we are, when we are ready to have a baby that means we are ready now!!!doesnt it!!!!
Sorry about the big long letter and sorry for moaning in most of it but I think you might be feeling exactly the way I do and so it is great to chat to you!!!
Well I had better go and get dressed and do something with myself, this board is soooooo addictive!
I wish you the best of luck for your appontment in October.
Take Care

Hi Cheeky Monkey,

Thanks for your post, its really helpful to chat with people that are in similar situations. I completely agree that this site is addictive, I only came across it a couple of days ago and I am soooo glad that I did.

It's wierd really but ever since I learned about PCOS, which was a few years ago now, I have always thought that this could be what I have. I know its seems strange to just randomly think that but I read an article a few years ago and everything seemed to slot into place.

I am overwieght and over the last couple of years the lip waxing has become much more frequent (arrrghhh) Maybe I'm wrong, who knows. I guess it will all become clear at some point in the future.

Anyway, I hope all goes well for you this weekend at your neice's christening. I'm sure it will be a lovely day and fingers crossed it won't be too far away when we are arranging some wonderful christenings of our own.

Wishing you the best of luck for October and beyond.

Hi Leann,

I hope you are right and we are planning Christening's of our own really soon, I was in Manchester at the weekend for the christening and it was nice but difficult!!!

I felt the same about my symptoms of PCOS and it is much easier once you know for deffinate, hopefully you should find out soon and then start to tackle it, I got a great diet book to follow and it is unbelievable how things start to become clear and easier to follow.

Well just wanted to reply to your post, I have been trying to catch up from being away!! It is amazing how much you miss these boards!!!
If ever you want to chat to anyone just send me a post and I will be here! Remember we are all in the same boat and just maybe we can help each other through this journey!

Take Care
