Question for Ghost

Post by Welshgirl38 »

Hi Ghost,

I have a question. I am 11dp2dt. When i had my ET my embryos had only divided into 2 cells, one being a grade 2 and the other a grade 3. My question is, because they had only divided into 2 by 2 days does this mean that by the time they would normally implant - could that be later than a normal transfer of a 4 cell embryo because they were 'smaller' The reason im asking is i poas this morning (i know, i know!) and it showed up negative. if i be honest, i am a wee bit concerned as i have my test to do on Friday (i was given a HPT by the clinic - they dont run blood tests)
If they are 'slow starters' would that mean that instead of taking 6-7 days to implant, could they even take a wee bit longer and maybe this is why my test showed up negative because there isnt enuff HGC yet in my urine. Am i clutching at straws - what are ur honest thoughts?

Also Ghost, thank you for being here and helping all us ladies out, u really are a fantastic person who has a fantastic job and from the bottom of our hearts a huge

THANK YOU :D

Becky Xxx

Hi Karina,

First of all 'congratulations' on ur BFP :D I love to hear such happy stories ...

Im not at 'The Royal' i attend the private clinic in Belfast/Bangor (am i allowed to say the name, im not sure??)

The grade three embryos u had transfered - what cell were they 2 or 4? Im not too worried about the grading, its the cell dividing im more concerned about. Im praying that i too will get a BFP on my test date, u hear it happening so many times that women test early with negatives results, only to go on to have BFP on their test date - i hope im one of them :)
When is ur due date????

Hi karina,

Glad to hear u found out what the problem was and that now your taking summit for it, fingers crossed for ur next time round :)
I am on the Belmount Road - they are a strange bunch there - i dont know how to explian it - sometimes when i went in, i felt like i was on a conveior (cant spell) belt one in and one out like - but from EC onwards, they have been fab to us, our Dr and embryologist are lovely, and the nurse we was allocated is just great - i suppose every clinic gets its busy days! I see your embies were the same grading as mine, that gives me a lot more hope :D Thank you xx

Anyway - the weather here today is crap isnt it  - one min sunny the next pouring down, im trying to dry a line full of clothes - and im like wonder woman ruushing out to peg out , take in, peg out, take in :x lol. Ive given up now, and shoved them all in the tumble drier lol. DH will be happy once the elect bill comes in haha!

Hi Karina,

How u doing? Im trying to keep up with my PMA, i think it got a little lost today and im still trying to find it!
I nearlly phoned the Origin today and asked them is it normal for a woman in my position to be:

Hormonal/mental/frustrated/weepy one minute and laffing the next - and with achey AF pains - but i guess i didnt need to, cos all of the above sound about right for women like us who put our bodies thru so much pain and agravation in hope that ne day we will hold our wee one in our rms nd say ....

It was well worth it :)

Roll on Friday, i think im going crazy lol

Becky,

There is the rare embryo that takes a little longer. The bulk of viable embryos blastulate on day 5 or day 6. A few on day 7. About a day later, maybe a little less, they can hatch and then attach.

Can't reliably tell on day 2 which embryos will be the fastest on day 5/6/7. I'm sure there's some correlation, though.

11 days after a day 2 is about the same as 7 days after a day 6. If you're pregnant, your serum level of hCG is just now starting to rise. Numbers in the 5 to 50 range or so are common at that point, and the blood tests will reliably nail these. I don't know if that's enough to show on a urine test. They are not as sensitive or reliable, I understand, and a few posters here have said the same. In three more days, it would be more like 100+ in serum. Maybe that's enough to get a positive in the urine. I don't know. We never use the urine tests.

In fact, there is the rare case of hCG not showing up in serum until 10 days after a day 6 transfer. There is no possibility that a urine test would pick that pregnancy up on day 7.

Sorry I can't be more help, but it sounds like you don't have conclusive data yet. Give it a few days, or more.

Thanks Ghost/Karina

As much as this hurts right now, im told it will get better.
We are having a review at the clinic, are there any questions i should ask - appart from the obvious 'Why didnt it work'

I think that as my embies were only a 2cell that maybe they didnt divide any further, (I know thats pretty obvious for most failed cycles)
i dont think it was anything that i did or didnt do - altho 2 days after transfer, i used a hot water bottle as i was sore  i was told later by ladies in this thread that i wasnt meant to use one!!
My clinic never told me not to!
What about baths - was i allowed those, i could have easiely gone in the shower, but i was using the bath more often to ease the soreness (obvisouly again - not too hot!)

Oh heck - maybe it was something i did ......

Becky, do not blame yourself, sometimes, the embies just are not meant to develop more, like in any natural pregnancy. I am sure the hot water bottle did not do any harm, same with the bath.

I am very sorry for you and hope you will feel better soon
