Hello 2nd Trimester friends,

Jo,

You are right that the wait for a Chinese adoption can be longer than IVF.
Actually, since I became pregnant, the wait is more of a blessing. That way I will have time to spend with my first baby before the second one comes along. It will give me time to perfect my mother skills. :)

I have been doing silly things also. Tonight I pulled into the gas station to fill up my car with gas. I jumped out and went around to begin pumping my gas. I then realized that I had pulled up on the right side of my car. Unfortunately, my gas tank is on the left side. I jumped back into the car and drove around to another pump.

I am still waiting to feel movement!

I hope everyone else is doing well.

Take care all,
Tammy

Tammy you did make me laugh, I put petrol into our car when I was pregnant with Emma (it was a diesel car!). We had to phone the garage and they said that was ok, wouldn't have been if it was the other way round though!

I had my appointment with the midwife today. We got to hear the baby's heartbeat which was great. It is a tricky week as sometimes they can and sometimes they can't hear it, especially with me being large but they did and everything was fine. She could feel my uterus and everything looks great. Seems like all the problems I'm having are bad on me but the baby is fine!

Hayley how did the scan go? Did you manage to see the sex of the babies?

Hope the rest of you are doing ok.

Speak soon

Jo

You can tell which ones of us are busy! lol

Well I'm all packed for tomorrow. Her op is on Friday and she will be in for 4-6 days depending on how well she recovers. She's usually pretty good as she's too young to fully understand what's going on, nothing really affects her. She's the one who always pulls out her canula without a blink of an eye lid!

Hi MLG welcome back although I guess you will be leaving us soon for the third trimester! Whereabouts in Portugal are you? My first husband was Portuguese and we used to live (well he still does) in Praia da Luz/Lagos, Western Algarve. I was there for 8 years. Beautiful country.

Right best go and put the girls in the bath.

Take care

Speak to you all in about a week!

Hello Ladies,

Jo~~ I wanted to wish you luck for your daughters operation, i will pray for her speedy recovery and progress. She will be in Gods hands, no worries. How have you been coping with the pain? I often read your posts and get inspired at how strong of a woman you are. WIshing you loads of luck and patience.

Kareen~~ how are you dear? I hope you will soon be able to get off your feet, i completely understand how bad your back and feet are hurting. I too have completely swollen hands and feet. My doctor asked me to stop working last week, so i had to divert all of my patients over this week. Literally nothing works to help with the swelling, the doctor told me to avoid salt but even that hasnt seem to help, the water retention with twins and triplets sets in early on and lasts throughout the entire pregnancy. Just try to soak your feet in peppermint water at nights then elevate them throughout the evening. Im glad to know your babies are doing well. I know how you feel about finding out the sex of the babies, i wasnt sure if i wanted to know but my husband and his side of the family are dying for a girl, so when we found out its 2 boys and one unknown it set things off to a different mood for some of his family memebers. But for me it was fabulous as i really dont mind any gender in any number of them. Goodluck!

Hayley~~~ Congratulations on your precious little girls... I just told my husband about your girls, he was sooooo thrilled.... we still have hope for one of your babies. Oh how exciting for you to be able to get things done for the babies... How are you feeling? Im so happy for you...I just hope one day we can all meet and share our joys together.

Tammy~~ how are you doing??? Dont feel bad about not feeling any movement, i too have not felt anyyyyyyything, and sometimes its really strange, because some feel it really early on and others dont. I have heard its normal not to feel it so early on. Hope you can get a kick soon!

Ladies, as for me i have been feeling pretty good, just the swelling is getting to me having difficulty walking because of it. I have officially been placed on bed rest starting this week!!!!!!! what to do from now till then??????? I have a specialized anomaly ultrasound scheduled in 2 weeks so its kind of exciting, i guess this is a special test to measure the growth development. Also i will have the AFP blood test done on the same day, but because i am having triplets they will test for only 2 of the abnormalities like down syndrome and neural tube defects, rather then all 4 tests that they do.... Its kind of scary i guess. I have gained 20 pounds so far!!!!!!!!!! OMG that just seems like sooooooooo much but the doctor said it was within limits of triplets... he said eventually i will platue off the weight! and to think i have absolutely no appetite to eat anything. I havent had a single craving yet. how scary!!!!!! I miss talking to all of you ladies.... wish you all well....
With Gods Blessings BFP!

Hello Ladies,

Justine: Wow, that is a lot of driving. I complain because I drive twice a week to a neighboring town to teach. It is 1 hour each way. I am really excited to be able to adopt, as well as have a baby.

Vita: I have not had any swelling in my feet/ankles yet. How long are you going to be on bed rest? I don't know what I would do if they put me on bed rest, as I teach 6 different classes for 2 local colleges. Take care of yourself.

Jo: We will be thinking about you and your precious daughter during her surgery. Take of yourself.

Kareen: I hope you get to feeling better. I have been having a little trouble sleeping at night. I am used to sleeping on my back and now I have to sleep on my side. I toss and turn all night. My bust size has also increased. DH does not mind it, but they get in my way at night when I'm trying to sleep.

Take care all,
Tammy

Kareen,

I am so afraid that I will turn flat on my back and sleep that way. It is supposed to cut off oxygen to the baby, if you lie flat on your back.

When we first started the adoption process this past January, the wait from paper submittal to referral of a child was 7 - 8 months. We have been waiting since June and the wait now is 13 - 14 months. The Chinese say that the increase in wait is related to the number of adoptable children available and the number of people wanting to adopt. Our agency is saying that the wait will continue to increase past the 14 month mark. I feel like we were supposed to adopt, since I did not get pregnant during both of my IVF's, but conceived naturally after we had turned in our paperwork for adoption. I always wanted two children, so this gives me an opportunity for 2. DH has a son from his 1st marriage, so 2 children were not as important to him.

Take care all,
Tammy

Hello All

Thank you all for your kind words and well wishes. We got to Great Ormond Street and they have decided to cancel her operation because she's so well (they can't operate if she's poorly!). With Jodie she is great between May - September and come October she is so bad, struggles to breathe, she's sick every night, need oxygens, weekly trips to A&E etc. They said it was really hard to do the op on a healthy looking child. What the plan is now is to repeat the ph study (a tube down her nose for 24 hours measuring how much acid comes back up) and also the barrium swallow.

I am pleased in a way because no one wants their child to undergo surgery but a little disappointed because I know in a couple of weeks how poorly she's going to be. We have to wait until October/November to have the tests and if they come back with reflux still then she goes back on the list for the operation. Everything was perfect to have it now, dh's shifts and my stage of pregnancy. Fingers crossed she's grown out of it and she won't need the op after all!

Hayley congratulations on your little girls.

Kelly congratulations on your little boy! You are both so lucky to have seen. Three of my friends are pregnant at the moment and they were desperate to find out the sex, not one baby was co-operative during the scans!

Vita and Kareen I'm sorry you're suffering so much. I'm already swelling which to me is way too early especially with a singleton so I can't imagine what you are going through. My midwife just said keep my legs elevated and drink lots of water. It's hard to believe swelling is so uncomfortable!

Hi Tammy, have you felt any movement yet? It's not uncommon not to feel the baby until week 18-20 when it's your first. I'm so lucky I started getting bubbles at week 10, now I'm getting what feels like the baby tiggling me and also little kicks every now and then. I'm so surprised as I'm large. I've put on 2 stone already (28lb to the rest of you!). I only put on 2 and a half stone the whole pregnancy with Emma.

Sorry if I've missed any of you. Got to go do the school run!

Take care

Jo

Wow it seems like a lot of new girls on the thread! Where are my other buddies: calling out to Lisa!!! Where are you??

Danielle,

I know how you feel although I am not really cleared to have sex - it is a thing that men do struggle with and it isn't something they are consciously aware of! I would let it be for a little bit sometimes they have to get there head around it - my husband isn't wild about sex and it is not a sexuality thing more than it is a guilt thing - like his son is present for the intimate event - I just try to be supportive and the self gratification thing...Occasionally we can both take care of each other - but it still doesn't involve sex - however after the baby comes will be an entirely different story!! Hang in there!

Hey Ladies

Hope you are all well and enjoying the weekend!

Jo, my goodness, you are having a rough time. Hope you are managing ok despite everything that is going on. I am amazed that you manage so well. Your daughter's are absolutely georgeous, they have those beautiful, pinchable cheeks!! I am sorry to hear that the operation was cancelled...that sounds terrible but I hope you know what I mean. It is wonderful that she is doing so well at present but horrible that she has to be unwell before they will fix the problem. Seems like you just can't win. I hope the tests work out ok and that she doesn't become too unwell in the coming weeks.

Justine, good news about the maternity pay...that is fantastic. Not good about being back at work and the travel time....yukko. I will never complain about my 10 minute drive again!

Vita, only 20 pounds sounds fabulous to me. After all, there are three babies in there. I also wouldn't worry about not having cravings, they may come later! Take care and I hope the swelling eases now that you are resting.

Kareen, it sounds like you are having a yukky week. I had some water retention earlier on but I found if I drank more and had a gatorade a day, it helped. Hope you are feeling better soon. With regard to the sex of the babies....I couldn't not find out....but that is just me, perhaps I am a bit of a control freak!

Tammy, how exciting...two babies! Sounds like the waiting time will work out perfectly for you. We were looking at adopting a baby girl from China also but it is virtually impossible to do from where we live. The government only opens the adoption register for a couple of weeks every few years and they don't advertise when it occurs so it could take up to 5 or 6 years to complete the process....just ridiculous. We have done some lobbying to try and change this, but so far to no avail.

Hey Kelly, a baby boy...how wonderful. Glad to hear that everything is going so well. We are having a boy also and couldn't be happier. 20 weeks is one of those psychological markers I think...well it will be for me...half way. Yay!

Well nothing much happening here. I feel great, the baby is moving...alot and I have 3 weeks of work before I am going on holidays! Yay. That is probably why I feel great. We had a second morphology scan yesterday and everything is still perfect....we only had the second scan because the doctor didn't realise that one was done when we had the amnio and we thought it would be nice to see the baby again! Every week brings a little more confidence....we may even start buying things soon! So far the poor little thing owns a pair of socks and a t-shirt (that won't fit him until he is about 3 but it was so cute we just had to have it). I am also totally clueless about what to buy. It will be the height of summer here when the baby is born....do babies still need long sleeved rompers in tropical climates? I obviously have tonnes of research to do before he gets here!

Keep well and enjoy!

Cheers
Heather
