Hi vickie I had a hystoscopie but not at ARGC. I have endo and had a lap and Hysto prior going to start that cycle at argc and they were able to fax over the results. I am lucky and have private medical insurance through my husbands work. Can i ask what your problem is that you cant get pregnant????

Vicki you also dont have to have have two weeks off in 2ww. Most people only take a couple of days. I took off time due to type of job.

Best of luck

I have blocked tubes which is the reason that i can't get pregnant. I am so confused as i have just being doing more reading and we live about 1 and1/2 hrs away from Bristol and the clinic there is rated 4th in the country and seems that it wouldn't cost so much!
I think there it will cost between 4 and 5k, but am worried about ARGC as people say they don't give an accurate idea of cost and then it amounts to a lot more than anticipated!

Hi VIckie

I feel for you with your dilema. ARGC is a big commitment as everywhere is but when you are stimming you have tio go for a dilly bloodtest and in the second week sometimes you need to have another bloodtest in the afternoon as well. They do have good results and get good eggs from most women.

You are still young especially in terms of ivf. At ARGC I am young most women are uin late 30 s early 40s as people user itv as a last resort. ARGC take on difficult cases but not cases when women have fsh over 12 i think that has never been an issue for me. I personally dont feel young and hate people saying that to me but unfortunaely it is true.

Have you though about the op to try to unblock tubes it cost about £2000 i believe. It is not an option for me but it depends on where your tubes are blocked.

Hi Vickie

Interesting that Susan mentioned the op to open your tubes up as it was exactly what I was thinking of too as I read through this very interesting debate around pros-cons of ARGC.

It actually cost me £3,500. I had the op exactly 6 weeks ago today at Hammersmith. Chances for success depend on where your blockages are, the length of tube that will be left and the amount of any other scarring. I was blocked in both tubes but very close to the womb. A lap showed that the rest of the tubes were all in reasonable shape. My consultant was able to remove the blocks on both sides and re-connect with microsurgery. Issue is that nobody knows how long it will last and are there any other factors which are stopping us getting pregnant naturally??? Plus the level of recovery post-op. I must say that I have found the recovery period (pain and frustration) at least as hard as a cycle of ivf - although very different.

There are very few places in the UK who do the op. Most now send you straight to ivf.

I could give you lots more info but only if you are interested. You may have considered already and ruled out?

Do let me know if you want to know more?
Take care & the very best of luck. All the choices are hard............just want to know which one will give each of us a little one :-))
Love

Hiya
I have had laser surgery on the nhs to remove the scarring and adhesions in my tubes. At the time, they said i could still get preggers in my right tube but my left one was damaged at the end nearest the womb.

They gave me 1 yr 2 get preggers (which obviously i didn't) and then the next step was ivf!

I have done so much reading on ARGC and have phoned them again and also spoke to my GP and the clinic that did my IVF. The other clinic we short-listed was the Centre for Reproductive medicine at Bristol and now after much deliberation, we have made the decision to go there!

when I phoned ARGC today, i asked them to be honest about cost to us as money is an issue for us! Well, this time she was a little more honest and basically quoted 4-7 and even said it can go over 7 in a lot of cases!

This is equivalent to two goes for us at bristol! Bristol are ranked 4th in the country and i felt at ease when i rang them today!

Its so hard!!!! i just want to be a mummy!! Did they say you have to wait a certain amount of time to see if your tubal surgery has worked? - Have they gave u a certain amount of time to get pregnant? - sorry if i am being 2 personal, don't answer anything u don't want to!!

Thank you very much for all ur help!! I think i feel more at ease now i have decided bristol as i was worrying about spiralling costs at london as due to my prob don't really think i needed daily blood tests as i responded fine to my first ivf and was on the lowest poss dose of drug!!!
