New to IVF & Looking for Other October Tranfers

Post by Charity »

Good evening all...

I'm new to the whole IVF process, but feel like I'm pretty educated. Still can't pronounce the majority of the drugs or know what I'm taking when, but understand the majority of the process. Wondered if there was anyone else out there in the same boat.

I'll go in for my mock-transfer tomorrow and start Lupron this Wednesday (September 20th). Assuming all goes as scheduled, my first ER is schedule October 10th, and my ET on October 13th...They asked if I was superstitious because that happens to be on Friday the 13th, but I've had my share of what felt like Friday the 13th's so I'm not about to wait another month because of a silly date. I'm sure you all can understand :) ...

I would love to find anyone else who wants to go through this together. Share our side effects, weight gain (which I suppose falls into the side-effect category, but concerns me more than the others  ), and procedure fears with one another...

Hope to meet some takers and friends that will completely understand. All my best…

hi charity
i am going to have my ET in october and i will know the result by oct/21.
i have already started the lupron a week a go. unfortunatly one of the sideffects of the injections is weightgain and we can't do anything about it. my doctor told me now is not the time to worry about it and he doesn't want me to stress over it so i'm just ignoring witch is hard when my pants don't fit me anymore.
anyway good luck and let me know how are things going . :)

Hi Charity,
I'm in the same boat as you are. This will be my first IVF attempt. I'm not quite sure what I'm about to go through. I'll soon find out! It's daunting and exciting at the same time. You're a bit further along than I am... I just started the BCP yesterday and will begin Lupron approx. Oct. 3. I go this Friday (Sept. 22) for the mock transfer. I'm not looking forward to all the meds and side effects. But I'm trying to keep my mind on the hopeful outcome. We only have 3 covered attempts, so I'm hoping for the best, but also knowing that success isn't guaranteed.

So you start Lupron on Wednesday? Let me know how that goes. I'm pretty afraid of needles. I'm hoping that my husband will be able to give them to me. He's a bit queasy about it, too.

Good luck!! :D

Charity - Best of luck to you. This is a great site to share your hopes and fears. I've found that there's no dumb questions and everyone's been great to chime in.

Strangely enough, while the side effects are there (weight gain, headaches, etc.), they're really not that awful. You know it's only temporary. I think the hardest part is the wait after the embryo transfer until you get the pregnancy test results (2 WW). The procedures themselves are pretty much a breeze. The shots can be daunting, but if you have a good husband/partner to help, you'll get through those too.

Bottom line - ask as many questions as you want, someone here probably has some answers that could help!

Again, lots of good wishes to you!

Hi all

I started my shots yesterday. This is our first IVF attempt. I don't have a date yet for my ER..all depends on how well I respond to the meds I guess. I go back Friday for an ultrasound.

Baby dust to all!

ivf october

Post by Brookey »

Hi, this is my first ivf also. I started injections on Saturday 23rd and should be doing final transfer around October 14. So far it has all gone pretty well considering. My hubby and I have been trying for around 4 years now with no luck. Lots of different treatments and a few nasty ops. I have endometriosis, wasn´t ovulating, my tubes are damaged and blocked and I had cists on my ovaries and breasts. I feel I have been pretty strong through all this, although I have had many breakdowns. I am Australian but live in Mexico because my husband is Mexican. It is really hard for me to trust the system here. If you lived here you would understand why.
Well, I really hope that all goes well this next month. The Doc says I have great possibility.... Young, healthy... bla bla.... The same thing they always say really. Anyway, I hope all of you have great success next moth with your ivf treatments.

Found out today that I'll have ER on 10/4 and ET either 10/7 or 10/9. I only stimed for 7 days, and they are looking at just 7 eggs right now. My anxiety is really starting to climb.

Hi Brit10 -

Are you stressing about having only 7 eggs or that the ER/ET dates are so close?

If you are stressing about the number of eggs, just remember it's the quality of the eggs, not the quantity. I was told that same thing (by some wonderful ladies on this board) when I was stressing about the fact that so few of my eggs had fertilized.

If you are stressing about the ER/ET, don't. The ER and ET were painless. They knock you out for the ER and I didn't remember a thing. The ET was painless as well but you are awake for that.

You'll be fine. Just think about the end result and you'll be ok :) .
