Am I Too Late..?

Post by Charity »

Hello all...

Is it too late to join the October Buddies??

I'm new to the board and IVF...I started Lupron yesterday, and haven't had any side-effects yet...A headache, and indigestion, but don't think it's the Lupron...Just nerves...The closer I'm getting to spending the money at the various stages the more nervous I'm getting. See, my husband and I haven't exactly exhausted all other options. My husbands seminal fluid quality is poor, and his volume is minimal & motility is rather poor too, but the RE we went to thought that maybe the way they cleaned the sperm at our regular OB/GYN's clinic could have damaged the sperm, making IUI not completley eliminated as a possible option. I'm 34 and I know my chances for successful IVF drop off, and so does the amount of coverage our insurance offers ($25K Lifetime), so I don't want to waste any more time or funds on things that might or might now work...What do you think? Am I making the right decision? My husband just goes along with anything I want with regard to our fertility situation, so I don't get a lot of feedback from him...He tries to seem interested, but he's not quite as involved with the whole medical side of things as I..

I'm also worried, cause my lining has been really thin in prior months, and I had read someone else mentioning they needed extra estrogen to build that up. My OB/GYN mentioned that in an introductory letter to the RE, but I'm not sure if they're really considering that. I don't want my cycle to get canceled for that reason...Should I mention something at my baseline scan? Or should I just trust that they know what they're doing, and that they can catch it during the monitoring in time to make a difference in this cycle? I'm just so overwhelmed with all the what if's...

Another thing is the Assisted Hatching...We are going to opt for the ICSI, but we also have the added option of the assisted hatching before transfer, and I'm not sure if that's worth the additional money. We're not really sure if there are other issues with our fertility, so I feel like we should do it all just in case there are problems in areas we don't know of yet...Gosh, I sound like a worry-wart... I need to relax...Sorry for seeming so uptight, but I just can't talk to anyone else. My mom and family will ask how things are going, which I can soon see their regret. So I shut-up and ask how they're doing, or change the subject to something lighter...

Oh! And to top things, I told my nieces and nephews that no more of them can have babies until I have one, and I just found out another one of my nieces is pregnant...She obviously missed the memo... But at the same time, it's really depressing and frustrating! :x First they're getting married before me, now they're becoming mothers before me...The next generation always has to show-up the one before...Ambitious little buggers...No...Fertile little buggers...

There's so much more I could say, but probably shouldn't...Sorry for dumping, and seeming so self-centered. I haven't even mentioned any of the other ladies' situations and posts...I wish you all the best, and I hope to hear from any of you if you have any insight to any of my many many worries...Take care, and sweet dreams if you can get past the Lupron side-effects... All my best...

your not the only one who’s hubby has enough trouble coping with how i am for that day never mind trying to master the whole ivf process...bless them i know they say we are x and y someone needs to find that multi task gene and see if we cant manufacture it...

i would absolutely mention to your clinic about going on estrogen i asked my Dr he said it cant hurt anything so i would ask for it especially if it will ease your worry at all its big time worth it...i wouldn’t wait for them to catch it they see so many people things can be forgotten

im also doing assisted hatching same thing i was told it cant hurt if they are good at doing it it can only help make sure your clinic have good stats with AH and id go for it...

your not a worry wart this is a huge step in your life and you want to get it right ....also we are very much allowed melt downs here its expected of us no one judges you so feel free to freak out i can almost guarantee someone has been there done that before...

lots of luck with your cycle...hugs Aunty

Thank you Jeck & Aunty...

It's so great to get such a warm welcome after downloading like I did...You gals are great! :D

I thank you for your advice on the estrogen and assisted hatching...I definitely am going to mention the estrogen...I still want to research the assisted hatching a little more...I read one article that talked about it actually causing damage to the embryo...The stats were fairly low, but there was that risk...Anyway, I will probably go for it, but just want to check it out a little bit more. Besides, I have a few more weeks to make that decision.

Does everyone else get sleepy and have really vivid dreams when taking Lupron? I have been having some crazy dreams the last few mornings. This morning I was getting blood drawn, but not from where I thought (rather through the vaginal wall which is probably related to the RE). The doctor pulled out a HUGE needle they were going to use. I was never so glad to hear the alarm go off. But then I'm so tired and in a fog for a bit after I wake-up...Loopy on Lupron... Is that normal or just stress from starting the whole process? Oh...And the hot flashes started after my second dose last night...Hope that doesn't keep escalating...

Did I mention it's Friday...Yeah...I am sooo not wanting to be at work these days...I'm sure you're all in the same boat...It's hard to focus on the "tragedies" at work when we're dealing with LIFE here...Hello...:P I'm rambling again...I'll cut for now, but thank you all again for welcoming me with open arms...It's more than I could have expected...Take care all...All my best...

Charity

Welcome! Sorry I did not respond yesterday, but I had my injection classes in the afternoon. As far as the Lupron goes, I have heard some strange things. I did not have to do the Lupron because I was labeled as a poor responder.

AF did arrive finally late yesterday (on the way to my class  ). I was relived after the strange morning. Now I think I am in shock! I was looking at all the needles and the schedule of medications, and I don't know how I can do this! I really want the baby, but I am afraid to do the shots! Anyway, with AF here, I will be having a u/s and BW on Saturday to make sure everything is a go. If it is, I will be stimming on Saturday night! I hope I can do this, because Hubby faints at the site of needles  . He has no tolerance for pain either, but during my last C-section, he stood watching over the blanket and telling me, "You should see this, this is really cool!"

Oh well, my hubby is coming home today! He has been gone since Monday and the boys are really miss him and I seem to need a really long nap. The estrogen I have been taking seems to have worn me out and on top of that, I have not been able to sleep!

Anyway, good luck to all and I noticed we have a few all in the same cycle, so lets work on the BFP's

Good morning!!

Welcome Charity!! I have had Lupron hot flashes they are not fun!!

I started shots!! DH did great, I didn't feel anything. Can someone remind me where the GonalRFF pen shots can go? on either side of the belly button and then can you also put them under the b. button??
I go in Monday for my first scan to see what is going on. Will I see much after just 3 days of stimming??

cmoscar- Yippy!!!AF!!!!

Have a great day everyone! TGIF!!!

Good Morning Ladies,

Charity - Welcome to our group! It is so nice to have you join us. Never appologize for ranting. We all do it at least three or four times a day. This is a wonderful place to chat with people who are supportive and know how you are feeling. I am also doing the ICSI with the assisted hatching (my RE said that those are our best chances. Good luck with everything!!

Rachael - The first couple of shots is the hardest then it becomes habit. I know you can do it. Just focus on the result.

Well, I went for my baseline this morning and my cyst is still there and growing by the second :( . They said it is very unusual for it to grow that much while I was on lupron, but it did. It is now encompassing my whole left ovary. They said that it would be too dangerous to start stims at this point. They will call me back later this afternoon with the blood test results and a game plan. They said chances are that I will stay on Lupron for another week and if it is not gone by then I will have to go get it aspirated and then they can start the stims. So it looks like I am going to be delayed at least a week at this point. I'll know later today. The good news is that my right ovary looks great with 8 to 10 folicles (sp?).f I'm disapointed but for some reason I am not surprised.

I hope everyone else is doing well. All my best.

Jenn,

I have been on prenatal vit's for about three months now and I am just now starting my first cycle. They advise all women attempting to concieve, to take prenatals. It is supposed to help the eggs mature and be of good quality. You know the old saying, "You are what you eat".

Good Luck!

hello cowgirlclass! :D
iam 28 years old and husband is 31. we have been ttc for 2 years and found out that husband has low sperm count. this is our first cycle of ivf. was really worried about the side effects i had heard about the drugs as didn't want people being on the receiving end of my mood swings. :x however, i have been fine (hubby may disagree though!) have got alot of little bruises on thighs but not too bad. finding the puregon more painful that the buserilin, thinks that coz its cold maybe. have been for scan today to see how things are going and so far so good. ovaries are responding well but have got to half dosage as don't want me to hyperstimulate.
think thats it really, how bout you?
