Hi Ladies -

DH and I have been to 2 out of 4 labor classes so far. What Bella has said is pretty much what they have been telling us too. They have been very encouraging on NOT laying in bed, and to move as much as possible. Whether it is walking the halls, swaying back and forth (slow dancing with DH) or even sitting on the birthing ball it is supposed to really help the labor along. They have whirlpool tubs for us to sit in also.

I too have been craving JUNK food. 1st tri I couldn't even look at a piece of cake or ice cream and now that's all I want :D I guess I shouldn't be surprised that I've put on 10 pounds in the last 6 weeks

I had an appt today. I am 1cm dilated, and 50% efaced. The baby is head down and at -1 station. Oh, and I lost my mucous plug yesterday (I know... TMI!) I called DH at work to tell him about the plug and when he got home he starts digging through all the couch pillows... When I asked what the heck he was doing he says "I'm looking for your plug, you lost it right?!?!" ha ha ha... it was very cute. The BHs continue but are starting to get painful, mostly just crampy like AF pains.

So, I too am getting very nervous for birth. The advice my cousin gave me is that when they tell you to push... NO MESSING AROUND... push as hard as you possibly can and then some. Sounds easy enough, right?

Hope everyone is having a fabulous day! Take care!

Julie - so how do you know if you lose your mucous plug? ..or will it be totally obvious?

OK today I continued on my junk food endeavor...I had this cheesy dish (kaese spaetzle)..sort of like mac and cheese..but also has some ham and onion...geez totally delish!....tomorrow I have to eat something healthy

Tracii - I noticed the plug during a trip to the bathroom. It was a jelly like blob that was clear and about the size of a grape. I could've easily missed it if it had just fallen into the toilet. After my exam this morning, the doctor showed me another blob that came out on her glove. Hope none of you are grossed about by my oversharing! I feel like labor could start in just hours, but I know the reality is it could still be weeks. Oh well, more time to get ready!

Our labor classes are on Sunday nights and this Sunday we get a tour of the hospital and birthing unit. I joked last week with DH that we would be at the hospital in labor waving to our class mates as they walk through. This could actually be a reality now

Hope you are all doing well, especially you ladies with twins. I can only imagine the discomfort you are feeling right now.

Hi guys
Sorry for being MIA! Have been entertaining! Now got rid of everyone so have begun cleaning (again!).
Anyhow this is a new laptop and I can't remember my details so I've had to re-register. It is me though! Will set up my signature and ticker again soon.
I really thought I'd have more time now I'm at home but I seem to be finding a zillion jobs to do. I know they could wait but I feel I should do them before bubs arrives.
I cannot believe how close we all are - 3 weeks for me tomorrow! Yikes!!!

Sorry no personals but am off to cook dinner. Will promise to try and log on a bit more soon!

Julie - I'm so jealous!! You're so far ahead of me! I've had no bh at all - mucous plug still intact. I saw my doctor this morning - he examined me and - nothing - no dropping of the baby - no dilation - cervix is soft but still unchanged from the last appointment.

I have been content just being pregnant so far. But this past weekend we went to a wedding and the family is all so excited and made me excited too - now I'm getting more to the point of asking...when...? is it a boy or girl??...will she/he look like me or his/her daddy..???....

Our childbirth classes haven't happened yet...I know we're so close - but the timing just hasn't worked out. We couldn't sign up for the last round because we had the wedding last weekend - and the next round finishes AFTER our due date...hehe...I'm in the process of looking for another class - we'll see if that happens. I have been reading alot of books so I feel somewhat knowledgable...

How is everyone else doing?? Everyone is so close!!!

Wow,

Can I just say its amazing to be at this point! It still seems a little far away but it really isn't!! I get to register for the hospital next week and my birthing class is in two weeks!!!

Can I ask does it fly by until you hit 36 weeks - and then the last 4 weeks drag on?

Hey ladies! Glad to hear I am not the only one craving junk food. I normally eat pretty healthy but tonight I felt compelled to eat some Tostino's pizza rolls and a Toaster's Strudel for dinner - lol!

Julie - wow! Sounds like you are getting very close!

Kristi - we'll have to start a new thread for all of girls after our little ones are born so we can all keep in touch. I know I will definitely want to see pictures of all of your adorable babies!

My due date is Dec 20, and I have talked to several people who have had labor induced early to avoid being in the hospital for a holiday. My doctor feels that it would be safe to induce as long as it is after 38 weeks. How do you all feel about that?

Are most of you planning on going natural? Or are you going to use epidurals? Just curious.... For those of you going natural you are braver than me!

Have a good night/day everyone! I'll check back soon.

Hi Lisa,

I am planning on going natural, but will be guided by my midwife if any complications occur (so I may end up having medical intervention if it's what is best).

I don't really think I should go into the reasons why, as I think it is a very personal decision & I don't want anyone to read into something I say as a criticism of their choice. I think there is no right or wrong way - it's really up to the baby in the end how he/she decides to come out! You might plan on an epidural, and your baby decides to come so quickly there is no time for one!!!

Anyway, I know I will be shocked by the pain, and will probably scream for drugs 100 times (my midwife says she will ignnore me for the first 7 times).

My birth centre also has a big bath, so maybe will give birth in the water if it feels good at the time. We'll see - the next chapter in our adventure!!!

Lisa,

I am with you - I am having an epidural and made my dr to promise not to do an episiotomy! In my case I am due dec 17 but I think I will go earlier then that - basically I have said once the cerclage comes out all bets are off - and chances are they may observe me after removing it so we shall see - the decision to take it out is currently slated for 37 weeks which is right after Thanksgiving (OMG - not to far) but only Logan really knows when he wants to come....We will do a c-section if a medical reason calls for it (baby is too big, preterm labor prior to removal of cerclage, malpresentation, etc)

Oh Crikey! Crikey Crikey Crikey. Deep breath! It really is very close now isn't it! Like some of you feeling bit in the dark as don't have my ante natals for another few weeks, and m/w doesn't do the birthplan until 36 wks, but has told me to start thinking about it.

You put things well about each person choosing whats right for them Bella. For me am just trying to keep an open mind and see how it goes. Will go with the option of natrual birth as a starting point and take it from there. (not just because you get the better birthing rooms with pools and massagy things ... but thats a bonus!). Given babies consistent larger size, m/w has said I should think about preparing for possibility for an early birth. It helped a lot talking to her, they don't advise intervention, but just said they will track closely in preceding weeks, wouldn't let me go far over due date and during labour would probably advise a lower threshhold for intervention or drugs if labour prolonged etc. I really would for some reason just like to avoid those big salad tongues (forceps!).

Feel bit anxsious because am still unprepared and wondering why the nesting instinct hasn't kicked in yet! Forced DH to do a big finish up shop today and guess will make sure I start unpacking things from bags, washing everything, making up cot and the rest of it!

Hope you are all well.

Hi all,

Its mad coming on here and everyone talking about pain relief for childbirth etc. etc it really does how how far we have come.

Mel - like you i havent had any antenatals, ao i also feel in the dark, but i suppose at the end of the day all you can do is go with the flow!!!

Richard - My hubby is as excited as you and i think feels totally the same, never really thought we would get this far, but obviously still a little apprehensive. this site has been such a godsend for the support and wealth of information that people have, its been a pleasure to share this journey with you both and everyone else, i truly will miss you all.

Just spent another few days in hospital, consultant still concerned about the amount of protein my body is giving out, starting to get quite scared by it all now. if my next sample on monday comes back any higher then i will have to have more tests. so far its not pre-eclampsia but they still think it could be brewing, if so it means a c-section, they keep telling me they are trying to get the baby as far as possible, which is great, as long as 'bubble' is fine they can take my blood daily and pock and prod til the cows come home. (sorry for the ramble, i just wish it was all sorted)

Lots of love to everyone, got to dash

love

Hey all! I just caught up on several days of posts. I was out of town for 3 days for my last baby shower. I'm really exhausted and am going to do a lot of resting today.

I can't believe how our posts have turned from things like worrying about miscarrying, worrying about amnios, feeling nauseas, etc......to now talking about losing mucus plugs, braxton hicks, c-sections, water births, bags packed, etc. And we're all getting emotional and thanking each other for being there throughout this journey together.

It's really amazing that we are all getting so close. Just think...in another month or so (give or take) most of us will have posted baby pictures on photobucket instead of belly pictures!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sue,

You poor thing, having all these trips to the hospital. At least you are in the best hands, and everything will be done to make sure you & bubs are ok.

Richard - I have been taking Rasberry Leaf. Not the tea though, I have a medicne type thing that I bought from a naturopath (am so not usually that kind of person!). Apparently it helps with toning the uterine muscles to help push baby out, and also helps them to contract afterwards. I take 5 mls a day (about a teaspoon) and then 10 mls from 38 weeks. It tastes awful!!!
