Hi Rittie

Just poppped in to reasure you that everything is normal with regard to your midwife etc. I already have two little girls and remember from last time but this time it did feel strange after all the intervention we've had.

In the UK it's normal to have your "dating" scan between 11-13 weeks. Some hospitals will have your booking in appointment at the same time or others will just send you another appointment. Where I am (in a little village) we have a community care midwife. I had my booking in appointment at 10 weeks (only because they weren't doing a dating scan as I've had the dates confirmed at the clinic, for them this was enough). My next appointment isn't until week 17 when I see my consultant (I'm a high risk pregnancy due to being diabetic).

Everytime I see someone I always make sure I tell them it's an ivf pregnancy but I'm told that doesn't make any difference now. With ivf the problem is getting pregnant, once you are then it's the same as all the others!

I hope this helps.

Claudia I'm so glad you are finally in Brazil with DH. I've been thinking of you lots and glad everything is ok.

Hope the rest of you and your strawberries, plums, limes, lemons, where ever you are in your pregnancy are doing well.

Take care

Jo

Anna and Jo,

Thank you for sharing your UK maternity care experience with me. I'm feeling much much better. I guess it is because we are used to all the monitoring and attention that I feel like a sharp cut off when the hospital doesn't want to see me for so long. But as the GP said, if one has no pain, no bleeding, no problems why would one need to keep going back to the doctors? There's nothing they can do at this stage if things are plodding along nicely. So thank you and thank you again for the re-assurance.

I do feel that the IVF clinic can keep in touch a bit though. But I guess we become a statistic as soon as the treatment is completed and they no longer have much interest. Thats reality for you.

So happy to see everyone's little beannies/strawberries doing so well. I'm now mentally coping very well with the idea of having twins -ie I've gotten over my initial freak out. Can't wait to see/hear them again. Please keep sharing your U/S heartbeat news, this is so sweet. My afternoon sickness is starting to render me an invalid. Am going to accupuncture this afternoon to see if there's anything they can do. If you have any tips please let me know. I only seem to get nausea in the afternoons and it had only started since Week 8.

Lots of love
Rittie

Hello,

I posted this a little while ago when someone else was having trouble with their ticker, I hope it works:

Ticker - go to tickerfactory.com, click on pregnancy, click the dot next to the rule you want, then click on next, do the same for the ticker slider, then next, put in your due date then today's date and time (just the hour), then next. You then need to paste the letters in the first box which is the bbcode. Then come back to this site and paste that into your profile

I hope that helps

Jo

Hi ladies, sorry to disappear for awhile, we have had computer troubles. I hope you are all enjoying the first weekend of autumn! It has been in the upper 80s here, not very fall like.

Anna, just to let you know my next appointment isn't on the 4th, but instead it is on the 27th of Sept. Thanks so much for the lists, they are so helpful to see where everyone is!

I can't wait for this first trimester to be over so I can relax (if only a little bit). My cousin was pregnant from a natural pregnancy and she was about a month ahead of me. I was so excited to tell her about our pregnancy which I planned to do next weekend, but I found out the day I had my scan she lost her baby. She went to hear the heartbeat and there wasn't one, so they did an ultrasound. They saw the sack, but no baby inside (it had been there before at the first scan). Has anyone ever heard of that?! She had some slight bleeding weeks back but the doctor told her it was normal. How did that little baby get out of the sack?

Sorry to be a downer. I am just feeling so nervous now and can't wait to hear my little one's heartbeat in a few weeks. I hope you all are handling the first trimester happily and healthily.

Hi ladies, sorry i haven't been in touch. I've had a nightmare of a time. Well after all the excitement of Thursday's BFP, on Fri I started bleeding. Phoned the clinic and had to go in for a blood test on Sat. I was told to try not to worry and hopefully it wouldn't come to anything. Bloods doubled to 209. Today I have bled for Britain. I feel so sick. We've to go again tomorrow for the blood test again. I can't understand how my bloods doubled when I was bleeding. If they double tomorrow it might be an eptopic!

Have any of you experienced this? THanks.

Speak soon. Love Paula x

Moritsha.....

I spotted/bled from week 5 until 5 days ago. I was a terrifying experience and my heart goes out to you. Each time it would happen we would do the hcg test.....all was fine....then we did u/s and that was when we found out there were 2 babies.

I did have one episode of heavy bleeding and it lasted for about an hour. We were out of town and did lots of walking. I went to the ER in the city we were at. Levels were great....they did another u/s and they could see both heartbeats.

I was still spotting last Monday when we went for our last RE u/s. We heard both heartbeats and both babies measured great.

Please take it easy. If anything, that was one thing I did for myself. Lots of rest...no housework.l...NOTHING. While I was at work...I stayed off my feet. I felt like I had to for my babies. The doctors didn't tell me too...it was just instinct.

I will keep you in my prayers...and please let us know how your next appt. goes.

Hi ladies, happy Monday! Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Paula so sorry to see your news  You are in my prayers at this diffcult time hugs x

Lucy, not long now and you will hear that heartbeat! It is difficult to relax! Every scan is a step forward. It's no wonder we are anxious after all we have been through to get this far. Anyone got any good tips for surviving the first tri in a calm and relaxed way??!!

Rileydee, hi and congrats on getting to 12 weeks!! How are you? Hope all is Ok.

Riley and Anna, it is great to hear that you both made it! Congrats! So have you both gotten to quit the additional hormones? How does it feel? Is it true what they say... fewer symptoms? My doctor's office has that poster on the wall with your babies the size of plums now. Don't worry, it quits referrencing fruit after 12 weeks!

For those of us with our 8 week strawberries, I read that the 9th week of pregnancy is the one with the highest levels of hormones. I don't know if they were talking about the week after hitting 9 weeks, or the week before, but I know that I have felt worse over the past week. They say soon we will take the turn and the levels will begin going down and we will feel better. YAY, something to look forward to!
