D & C after failed IVF ?????

Hi - I am a new user to this site but I have been reading the forum for a while and have found it to be a great comfort (and Ghost your advice is great!!!)

History - my first IVF ( w ICSI ) attempt - 20 eggs, 16 fertilised and 14 grew from there. 3 grade 1 embies were transferred but unfortunately they didn't stick. The RE and Dr were very surprised (altho I suspect that they always say this )

Both the DR and RE have now recommended that I have a D & C before our FET in November to ensure that my womb is 'clean'.

This seems a fairly aggressive to me and I am wondering if abnyone else has had a similar experience.

I would be grateful for any advice.

Have never heard of this suggestion before either. You might inquire what they're trying to accomplish with this.

wow i wouldnt do it..i thought it was odd when i heard someone was told to take antibiotics during a cycle but a D&C is crazy that will mess your cycle up for months...what are they talking about Clean....did you take your embies to blast before you froze them?... i think you need to ask more questions before thinking about doing a d&c...

Hi - thanks for your thoughts.

My frozen embies (11 - 6 Grade 1's and 5 Grade 2's ) are at 3 days (mostly 7 and 8 cells) so I suppose it will be a 3 day transfer. I did ask if we should grow them to blast stage but my Dr wasn't keen.

My Dr did a 'scrape' of the womb (not pleasant BTW) this morning. They are checking for any infections (or anything?) that may have prevented implantation. My husband had a strep D infection (and another ) when he was providing his samples for freezing.

I am a Kiwi currently living in Singapore and I must say that the medical system here is very very thorough - lots of tests etc etc

The jury is still out on the D & C as they will do this next month, in the cycle before my FET.

D&C from my understanding is performed when there is a miscarriage too far along to get rid of naturally.

I've never heard of this to "CLEAN" you out. Your gutt feeling is dead on in being concerned. Get a 2nd opinion from another Dr./RE.
Do this and if the 2nd opinion is the same then go to the RE you ar comfortable with.

Why the scraping?? That can damage your lining of your uterus!!
Ask questions don't allow them to just do procedures this is your body don't feel funny speaking up!!!
