hey yogi, I had my Estrogen level low as well. It was way beyond till the 9th day of my stims. Then it started to rise. My doctor was thinking about canceling the EC, but then went with it anyways. Got 8 eggs.

Are you using gonal F? if yes, what is your dosage?

Girls, thank you so much for your good wishes! I posted my update on October buddies!

Please don't worry about it, what is your doctor saying?

Hello everybody, here is a new update!

Newbie_Rose 9/11 – Pregnancy testing Image
Herbie 6269 (Southern Maryland) - Sept 1 - Started StimsImage

I had an appointment yesterday and the BCP I am taking did not bring my estrogen level down yet (it has actually risen), so my stims got pushed back by a week. :? There is a chance I may start on Oct 6th, but they said they will more likely leave me on BCP for 3 more weeks. so my stims will actually more likely be pushed back even more, starting Oct 20th. For some reason my estrogen level has risen from 57 last week to 94 this week, instead of being down to 10 after a week of BCP. I don't know why this is all happening, I cannot even start the whole protocol again. The doctor said that I just don't respond to anything he gives me. I cannot believe that since July 21, when I started the first protocol, I have not even gone through stimulations. He says when I start, I am healthy, having a great number of antral follicles, my levels are great, my lining is good - everything looks great. I can have babies naturally, no problem. It's just the meds they are giving me for IVF that are messing everything up. Sorry for venting here, I just hope I can finally start.... the doc said I am still young and I should not worry, but this is really nerve- wrecking. He said it is little uncommon to have such a reaction to BCP. So for me, just getting to my ER date will be a challenge. :( I knew why I should not change my turtle to anything else

Yogi --- it is great to hear from you! Hope everything will go well with your estrogen level. Keep is posted and good luck!

Suzhan --- did your AF arrive yet? Thanks for your support, I hope you can finally start too!

Sending a lot of baby dust to all of you! Please send some stims dust my way!

Hiya Lola - Thanks as always for the update.....

Strange news about your estrogen....hopefully another cycle of BCPs will help.

This might be a stupid question, but if you're ovulating on your own, your tubes are fine, etc, and you're only doing IVF for the male factor, are there any other options? I.e., I've heard some are doing 'natural' insemination - where they extract the sperm, wash it, and inseminate it with your natural cycle instead. It takes more times, since you've only got one egg to shoot for each cycle (i.e., you might have to do 5 cycles to get to the same success likelihood of 1 IVF, but you avoid all the nasty hormones, etc. ) Not only that it's a fraction of the cost of IVF. You're still so young and have plenty of time and if RE says you're perfect in every other way and it's just the hormones making your cycles go haywire, maybe it's an option? Here's the 411 on this from:

http://cms.clevelandclinic.org/obgyn/body.cfm?id=189

NATURAL CYCLE INTRAUTERINE INSEMINATION:

In some cases the success rate with natural cycle inseminations is not high enough to warrant its use. However, there are many couples for whom this procedure is worth doing. When this procedure is going to be used, the couple calls the IVF Center by the fifth day of the menstrual cycle to notify us that they will be doing the procedure that cycle. The woman then uses an ovulation predictor (generally starting on day #11, depending on usual cycle length). The day the ovulation predictor changes, the couple calls the IVF Center and the intrauterine insemination is scheduled for the next day. In cases in which natural cycle IUI can be utilized, the success rate will average 12-15% per cycle and for some couples could be considerably less. Cost of this procedure is approximately $293 plus the cost of the ovulation predictor.

As for me, AF has still not arrived (I think I'm cycle day 32 or 33 now, I've lost count.....) Even stranger, I've gotten egg-white cervical mucas today (sorry if TMI). Isn't this usually a sign you're about to ovulate? OMG - how could I be ovulating at day 32 or 33???? My cycle must be really messed up. Now, strangely enough, I rarely got EWCM before, only when going through stims. My acupuncturist had us doing ovulation predictor kits (OPK) this past month to see if we might get pregnant naturally assisted by acupuncture....but I stopped using the OPKs on CD 19, since I got negatives each day and just figured I wasn't going to ovulate this month (which is very rare for me....) And now maybe I am? I'll have to use a kit later today to check (although I have no idea what comes first - the EWCM or the + OPK????) Oh, and I did a HPT on day 28, which was -ive, so I don't think it's that either, plus no symptoms.

Sorry for the long-winded rant, I'm just a bit confused here....

Lot's of positive egg dust off to you, Lola, and good wishes to everyone else!

Thanks Suzhan, you are so sweet. I hope your AF arrives soon. It took a long time for me to get it as well, it looks like you are ovulating considering the way you are describing your mucus. It will come when you are ready and I was actually glad it took a little longer, because I felt that my body was more rested and ready. These ovulation kits are expensive, ha? I used to use them too, when we started trying. Actually, the mucus comes first and then you ovulate, once you ovulate, it's dry again. So if it is EW, do it today. The test is usually positive 36 hours before ovulation, since it detects the LH surge that happens prior to ovulation, not the ovulation itself. So there is a chance you may already have had the LH surge....
Thanks a lot for your advice, we were considering the IUI before IVF, but when we received the sperm test results, the doctor said IVF is the only chance for my hubby. The count is so extremely low, there is almost no motility and 99% of them have head defects - that he has to do ICSI with IVF - pick only the good ones (there is still a few that are perfect) and inject each egg with the sperm. So we agreed to IVF, but now the IVF meds are not working on me... oh well. I will just trust my doctor, he is one of the best ones. Thank you so much for wanting to help with my problem. I really appreciate it Suzhan! Lola

Hello ladies, I hope you all are doing well. Image

myhb, how are things? good luck on testing day! I hope to hear good news. :)

Malinka, When do you do ET?

Lola, I'm sorry to hear about your frustration. Image I know it's tough. We put all our effort and time into this, we do everything we are told to do, torture our bodies, we try to be patient the whole time and still mother nature throws in a few more obstacles. My estrogen levels we a little high when I started my last cycle and the RE prescribed what I believe was progesterone pills for 5 days, or it might have been testosterone (I can't remember), which I took at the same time as my BCP. I guess it was a weird combo because the pharmacist asked me are you sure your supposed to take this together? LOL! Any way I guess it worked because I ended up starting stims right on schedule. I hope everything comes together for you. Maybe you RE will do a little tweeking to your protocol and things will work out. It's true that you still have plenty of time and soon enough you'll become a mom!

I had my FET consultation yesterday. My protocol this time is very easy and I'm so pleased that I won't have so many hormones to take. I will start my BCP at my next AF and a few days after that I start Lupron (new med for me). Then a few days before ET, I start PIO shots. A new thinner PIO just came out and I have ordered that :). Then estradiol and patches after ET. It should be a breeze. But the 2ww wait is going to be murder!
The nurse did suggest I get a rubella shot since I don't have immunity to it. Ick, I hate vaccinations. She said it's my choice to not take it, but if I get PG and get rubella, my baby could be born with defects, like blindness and deafness. They forgot to tell me I wasn't immune before my first IVF! Anyway, I got that done and I have to say that was the most painful shot shot to date! I totally was not expecting that! I got it just in time because you have to wait 30 days for the vaccine (live virus) to clear your system. I almost opted to not get the vaccine. I think I have a good immune system, I don't go to a work enviroment where I am exposed to many sick people, I've never had rubella, what are the odds of getting it within the next year? But DH said I should do it, why risk it, especially when this is costing so much. So I did.

Lola - (((HUGS))) I'm soooo sorry, but sounds like you have a doctor that really wants this to work. At least he is making sure that when you reach ER that it will be worth it.

There was lots of things I wish my doctor would have taking more seriously during the first cycle. When I received my meds in the mail it was 110 degrees outside and some of the meds were supposed to be refrigerated. When I opened the bag it was like an oven. When I told him that he said it probably wouldn't affect the potency. My DH wasn't too happy with his answer. Anyways, I am praying for you and I just know things will work out for you.Image

Well my AF came today! So I start my injections tomorrow. I'm really nervous and hoping that this time round will be my last.

Wishing you all lots of baby dust!!!!

Love Alicia

Alicia, Mia and Suzhan ---- thanks you so much for keeping my spirits up, it has been such a long way and there seems to be no end to it... at least I will be on the same schedule with you guys! (or maybe even behind you again Image) Alicia, that is so bad, that your meds came so hot. Mine came in the morning and they were still cold and packed with icepacks. And it gets very hot where I live as well. Also, my doctor is one of the best ones and I trust him a lot. I would never change him. I know all he wants for me is to be pregnant, so I will do whatever he says..Image

Malinka -- wishing you the best of luck today! Image

Yogi --- I know how you feel, my levels are never what they are supposed to be. Everything has to be perfect for IVF to work, it may still go up, but if not, please hang in there. They are trying to get you pregnant and this whole thing takes a lot of patience, but you will get there! Good luck!Image

You all have a nice day today! Lola
