No the pessaries and they are messy.
2 in the morning and 2 at night.

Went for another scan this morning and my follicle has finally grown to 20, so they have booked me in for Saturday morning at 9 15am. Have to be there for 8am with hubby.

Just went for my first IUI this morning. Got appointment to go back on Monday 16th October for pregnancy test.

What i wanted to ask and i feel daft for what might be obvious. I wanted to know why the follicles have to be 18 or over before they give you the HCG injection. If i wasnt taking Gonel F injections, can they release eggs if the follicles are much smaller? if i was in a natural cycle i mean.

Has anyone else had unexplained infertility at first, then find out the reason later on? Whats the normal reasons? I feel i could have been given more tests that what i did.

What is wrong with me I have done 3 tests and I should not test till thursday shoot me please!!!!!

Plus I have the worst skin ever and a massive coldsore

Holly, stay away from those tests! (like I can say anything, I did the same thing) It's still too early. My RE says to wait and test 5 days after your missed period.

Julie, welcome to the 2ww. Try to keep occupied to get your mind off of it and it will pass faster. I'm not sure about your question about the follies, I suppose it could happen. Your other question about unexplained IF, what tests have you and DH had?

I remember when i first consulted the GP he took some blood tests(think it was mainly for ovulation but maybe he checked for other things, i didnt ask at the time) and tested my hubby. I was referred to the hospital and eventually had an HSG on the NHS. They thought there was a problem at the end of my tubes where the dye seemed to delay coming out but when i had the HSG done a few months later privately, the doctor didnt see any problem. He took blood again and tested my hubby again, he couldnt see any reasons why. I have also had Chlamydia test and thats clear.
When i had my scan on day 2 of my cycle, the nurse spotted a fibroid but is sure it is nowhere that could stop me getting pregnant.
What is secondary infertility?

popping in to wish you luck!
Secondary infertility is when you have one child already and due to some reason are unable to conceive the second..
And about follies,
18mm or over are mature follies and contain eggs which are ready for fertilisation..( an optimum size would be 20mm)
Even after they give you the hcg trigger, the follies grow and are released within 36 hours. The trigger is given to make sure that at the time of egg collection(EC) in ivf, or during insemination in IUI, the eggs are ready and waiting for sperm.
also,some clinics will do 2 inseminations to try and ensure a better rate..
sperm can stay alive for upto 72 hours, while a released egg is alive only 36 hours..
In a natural cycle, eggs generally will wait till they get to that size till they are released from their follies..

Unexplained infertility would mean all tests done have come out normal on both partners,and the doctors cant find any medical reason for not conceiving..

Hi girls,

Just popping in to catch up and see how you are all doing. Good to see that you have some new faces in here.

I am due to have my EC/ET next week and I'm very excited/nervous. Its a whole different ballgame to the IUI's. My DH had to oay the fees yesterday (up front) and it was around $5000. Thats a lot of money for no product and no guarantees!

Holly - good luck for your test date! Be very wary of those pee sticks! They can mess with your mind.

Nicki? Are you still around the traps? Are you doing another IUI?

Jovigal - where are you up to?

What of Lis and the others? Have there been any BFP'S?

Julie - I also have Unexplained.....it is most frustrating.We passed all our blood tests, scans, temp charts, sperm tests and laproscopies with flying colours. After 5 years TTC and 6 months of tests and "waiting and seeing" they have shrugged their shoulders and slapped the "Unexplained" on us. I did 3 IUI's with Clomid and all failed. We made the decision to switch to IVF to see if we can get more answers there. This is my first cycle and so far it hasn't been too bad. I wish you the best of luck.....I understand what you are going through.
