Need advice from Ghost (or anyone) regarding my frosties.

Post by Corinna »

Hi all.

Well, I had my FET today and it all seemed to go very smoothly. I am now hoping & praying that I get my longed for BFP!! :D

The embryologist called me at 10.00 this morning. 2 of my 3 frosties had thawed 100% and were "looking great" apparently (one had perished unfortunately :( ).

Anyway, my embies were frozen at the 2 cell stage. 1 was grade 1 and the other 2 were grade 2's.

When we went for transfer at 1.30pm (3 1/2 hours after the thaw) they had divided further to 3 cells each!! The embryologist seemed really pleased by this and went on about how great they were looking. I thought maybe she was saying this for my benefit. What do you think, Ghost?? Is this looking promising?? She said that they seemed to have divided on quicker than expected which was a really good sign..

Anyway, 1 of my embies was graded as "1" as it had no fragmentation and had even cells, etc. The other was graded "2" as one of the cells had a bit of fragmentation.

Do these sound like good embies to you?? What are the chances of a BFP from a 3 cell frozen embie??

Any advice would be great.

Oodles of love (as always), Corinna xx

Those are good signs.

Faster growth is generally advantageous, most especially in a fresh cycle. In an FET cycle, it's not a bad thing, either. Cell division is further proof of viability.

Your embryos sound fine as far as appearance goes. But there are more factors than can be measured through a microscope, and many embryos arrest between days 2 and 7. I wish you and your frosties the best of luck. You will know more in a couple of weeks, and a few weeks after that, and in 8.5 months.

Thanks Debz & Ghost. :D

I am feeling a lot more positive about this cycle than my last fresh cycle in July.

I have been getting AF type pains from last night which have worried me a little bit. I hope that this isn't a bad sign.

I also TOTALLY freaked out yesterday when it occured to me that my "official" test date is Friday 13th!!!!! Theres NO WAY I'm gonna test on that day!! Not a chance. The day before & the day after more like it!!

I still worry about my DH's azoospermia. From what I've read, men with azoospermia have a very low chance of getting their partner pregnant even with ICSI. From what I can gather, pregnancy rates are very low..
We may have managed to get some good embies and 2 of those survived thawing well, but I am still worried that its juts not gonna happen..

Whaddaya think Ghost?!?! Am I just being paranoid?? Is azoospermia irrespective once you get some embies?? Thats the main stumbling block, isn't it?? Getting embies in the first place. Once you get some good enough to transfer, do they stand as good a chance as embies that were created using sperm from a man with a normal count??

You are phobic (not paranoid) about Friday the 13th. However, I wish I could tell you that sperm quality does not correlate with outcome once the embryos form, or even after pregnancy is detected. But it would not be true.

This is a question for your physician, as he/she will have all the details about your DH.
