Help i have to make a choice by tomorrow morning.....

Post by AuntyPebbles »

hey I'm stressed i don't know what to do....
my DR just called i was out shopping DH answered...now i knew it wasn't good my DR never calls unless you get a BFN....so here's what's up
apparently i was supposed to have had a saline ultrasound before i started this cycle as its been a year and they wanted to make sure there was nothing there that may be causing the BFN's ..great hey...
well my Dr just noticed i didn't have it done so he wants us to stop the Gonal F take just 10 Lupron for week go in have the US done then resume my cycle he said its only delaying it a week but to me no....this is my worry....
1. put saline in my womb when it shouldn't be there that has to affect implantation doesnt it???....
2 delaying my cycle by 1 week means i miss that time when your womb is ready for implantation so i would be transferring my embies into a womb that passed the receptive time???...
3.we had to arrange my cycle really carefully so DH had all the days off he needed for all the important times....
i have to make a decision by tomorrow...i dont know what to do....im freaking out

any advice would be greatly appreciated...

hugs Aunty

Aunty,

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I really don't have the answer to any of your questions but I wanted to let you know that I am thinking about you. If I were you, I would ask your RE the exact questions you just posted. Also, I know that Ghost works at a RE's office. Maybe she will respond with some helpfull information. I'm sorry I can't be of any help but I know how devestating any dely can feel even if it is just for a week. Please keep us updated on how everything is going.

Whoa, bummer :? What is it with the REs finding these things when it's practically too late. That's a tough decision. I guess if it we're me I'd do the ultrasound. If they find anything to cause a BFN then it could save you from going through the whole cycle for nothing. Have you asked the RE about the saline and if it would harm your linning. I doubt they would go through with transfer if the linning were not good enough. Is there anyway DH can rearange his days off? I'm sure the RE would give him a Drs. note if needed. Sorry you have to deal with this. seems like you'll be taking extra lupron because of their mistake. I think it should be at their cost. I hope everything works out.

Aunty, hang on there! Dont' be upset. Sorry I can' answer your questions, I dont' even know what is saline US means... But I am sure your doctor knows what she is doing... I think LH is delaying ovulation, keeps it in control... How far are you on Gonal F? Anyways, Nance is right ask your doctor all of those questions first.

Is there is anyway t o reach your doctor today at all? My clinic has a fellow on a call so if I have any questions she would answer them. Maybe they can page your doctor ? DAmn, it is not right to leave you in air without any answers at all.

AUNTY,
I HAD A SIMILIAR SITUATION LAST YEAR. RIGHT BEFORE TRANSFER THEY TELL ME THERE WAS A TEST THEY FORGOT TO DO AND IT WAS UP TO ME WHETHER I WANTED TO CONTINUE.
I CHOSE TO CONTINUE AND I GOT A NEGATIVE RESULT BUT THE TEST WAS NEGATIVE SO IF I WOULD HAVE STOPPED MY CYCLE I DONT KNOW WHAT THE RESULT WOULD HAVE BEEN.
THEY ARE CONTROLLING YOUR CYCLE SO I WOULD NOT WORRY ABOUT MISSING THAT WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY. I WOULD HOWEVER SPEAK TO THE DOCTOR. CALL THE EMERGENCY LINE AND HAVE HIM/HER PAGED. THEY LEFT THAT MESSAGE AND NOW YOU ARE STIRRING. CALL UNTIL YOU GET SOMEONE. THERE IS ALWAYS A DOCTOR ON CALL. I HAD THE SALINE SONO DONE LAST TIME AND IT WAS FINE, IT WAS LESS THAN A YEAR AGO SO I GUESS I DON'T NEED IT BUT NOW I AM GOING TO ASK.
AUNTY CALL AGAIN.
LADIES THE ONLY THING I CAN TELL YOU IS AFTER GOING THROUGH THIS ALL THIS TIME I HAVE BECOME VERY EDUCATED. ASK QUESTIONS EVEN IF YOU THINK THEY ARE STUPID. I ACTUALLY ASKED FOR A URINE ANALYSIS YESTERDAY BECUASE I FELT LIKE I WAS GETTING AN INFECTION, AND I KNOW IF YOU GET A FEVER DURING THE IVF PROCEDURE YOU ARE PRETTY MUCH DONE AS THE FEVER HARMS THE EMBRYO SO I NEEDED TO MAKE SURE I DIDN'T HAVE THE INFECTION. I AM SURE THEY THOUGHT I WAS CRAZY BUT TRUTHFULLY I REALLY DON'T CARE.
GOOD LUCK SWEETIE....

Aunty...

I would definatly ask those questions to you Dr. If you chose to cancel your cycle can you get a refund on the $$ you have spent?...technically it's their stuff up if they forgot to do the test. Can your DH re-aarange his days off. ?? and LIsa is correct, they are controlling your cycle so you should be good and I'm sure your Dr wouldn't suggest putting it out a week id he didn't think it was ok. Bu, call him and keep calling until you get an answer...thats what they are there for!!!

Hi Lady's thank you so much for the reply's i really do appreciate them...
well me and DH have been talking about this for hours weve decided not to do the test at this point and to carry on with the cycle
reasons were going ahead are so far todate i have had no problems with my womb even had a biopsy and came back clear my womb wasnt the problem my tubes are plus we had scan at baseline and my womb was clear then ..my AF is alwasy regular and steady (a good sign)i think
the thought of having this done mid cycle is more stressful than going ahead without it... given a choice pre cycle i would 100% have had it done and then given myself two months of AF break before trying but not an option so .. hubby works on an already overloaded unit so changing his days isnt an option he said he could proberbly have tried to swap days as needed but the stress factor again isnt good
also i think if anything is seen on future scans we can always freeze and do FET later...

now just praying we made the right uneducated decision...oh and i will be atlking about this with my DR so he knows just what he did..

again really appreciate your input your wonderful women and im blessed to know/meet you

hugs and love Aunty

Hi Aunty

We have lots of difficult decisions to make and you have to believe that the decisions you make are right for you. I feel in your situation i would have done the same. I would also explain to my doctor what a difficult and stressful time he has made you both suffer and i thougt that we are ment to try and stay stress free.
You are such a support to everyone on here and always giving good advice and support to others that i just wanted to let you know what i felt.

Good luck to you and your husband.

Aunty I have just read your post and I could cry for you. I can't believe that the DR has dropped this on you, mid way through your cycle and when there was no one around to answer your questions. I think if it was me I would agree with you to carry on. It takes alot to mentally prepare yourself for IVF and once you are on the rollercoaster you don't want to stop. I really feel for you.

Take care
Angela
