Bit of a scare...

Haven't been on for a while as it's been so busy, but I've made myself slow down this week a bit, so I'm back!

I woke up through the night on Tuesday feeling quite wet and upon inspection - was. Boy, did that bring back some deja vu. I tried not to panic and waited until morning than phoned the hospital.

Because of my history (Sam was born 7 weeks early and started in a very similar way) the took me in, traced the baby, did an internal (ouch) and scan and thankfully things seem ok. They couldn't see the cervix as it was too sore but said there were no pools of water collection so they were happy.

I didn't have any 'good' weeks with Sam, but have felt good the last 4 or 5. I almost feel I was lulled into a false sense of security... They're not sure what has happened - whether it was connected to the bladder or just discharge collection but I tell you, it was enough to scare me. I'm only just 27 weeks so definately not ready

Has anyone else had anything similar happen to them. I'm sure it's quite normal, but as I say the only experience of this sort of thing saw Sam appear a few hours later - but at least I was 33 weeks then. I have another 6 weeks left at work and am wondering if I should come off earlier????

omg zoe... that must of been a scary moment.....

im glad things are ok and hopefully they settle from now on....

if i was you i would finish work now... im only 20 weeks and my doctor has gave me a sick line for a few weeks...he said he doubts i will be back at work... im 33yrs old and because my job involves being on your feet.. (restruant work) 6 hours at a time... my back was breaking!!! plus im carrying twins so the risks of anything happening are high..... put yourself 1st...take the time off and relax....

Oh Zoe, you poor thing. You are always working so hard and I really think that you ought to rest up; I'm sure that your GP will sign you off so that you can get some rest. Here's hoping that bubba stays in his lovely warm home for a good few weeks yet.

Kareen - I'm coming round to your way of thinking, but the sooner I come off, the sooner I have to go back as my dh is self-employed so we can't rely on money coming in there.. However, I'm thinking saying I'd work until 34 weeks may have been a bit ambitious... I did have the dr's on Monday but they wrote yesterday to cancel so it'll be Wednesday now...

Justine - like your wee episode, I hope it was just a good kicking on my bladder through the night... I'll be 28 weeks next Wednesday but as we all know, there are no guarantees and that's what bothers me. At least I'd been in hospital with Sam at 33 weeks and had been given the first lot of steriods to mature his lungs... HEY - whatever do you mean about Scotland???????????????? I'm LONGING for the cold to set in. My work is horrendous as my classroom never seems to be below 26 - but I do know what you mean...

However, have to say that I've been also getting a lot of tightenings - braxton hicks I know and I got them very early on with Sam, but today they went on for ages - not getting longer or sore or anything, just there... It was the first time I'd been out and standing for any length of time for a few days, and I've been home a couple of hours and it's settled down, so I know that's good as if it'd been anything them it would have continued. Oh, the joys...

Anyway, it's been enough to scare me into buying maternity pads, but I just hope the wee man decides to stay in there a while. I'm convincing myself that if I start to get organised that's a sure sign nothing will happen. LOL

Jules - you are a love and always worrying in your posts to me. Thank-you for that as you don't make me feel quite so dramatic and paranoid. All the thoughts that had been pushed to the back of my mind are flooding back. But I took on borad your advice last time, and am not working as hard at school and not worrying about it. It's just the floor floors of stairs and not been able to teach from my desk that worries me...

Hi Zoe

How you feeling? I hope things have calmed down a bit. Without being too graphic I've been feeling really wet for about the past week and I'm only 16 weeks! Just another one of those nice pregnancy symptoms we get.

I definately think you should get signed off for a couple of weeks at least. The BH could just be telling you to slow down a little. Take a couple of weeks off and then see how you feel. Least then you aren't committing yourself to finish already.

I worked up to 35 weeks before and actually went into labour on my last day. I was sitting at my desk doing my breathing and had a long queue of people wanting me to sort things out before I left - guess that's what you get with working with 300 men!

Take the time, just relax get things ready, if you can't physically then do it in your mind, then if you do get to work as long as you want then everything is ready and there is no panic.

LOL Jo, that made me laugh - what a nightmare though.

I had a very quick first labour, so I would be horrified if I went when at work - that's what worries me about working until 34 weeks - a weeek past I had Sam!!!

Can you imagine - sorry kids, have to pop out for a bit
