Newbie here, very scared!

Post by MidwifeMom »

Hi,
I am just starting down this road and am really scared. I am very lucky in that I have three great kids that I conceived on my own. I had my tubes tied and have regretted the decision from that day on! I went for a consult and they advised IVF instead of a tubal reversal. I am waiting to start my Lupron on 10/4. The waiting with all of this is terrible!! I am 37 years old and know everyone thinks I am crazy. I told a few friends and have ZERO support there. I can't tell my family or co-workers and I am usually a very open person! I feel for all of you who have endured years on this path. I am hoping to find support despite my circumstances.

Thanks,
Michele

Hi!!!! I am preparing to start my 2nd IVF cycle and feel really confident this time around that I will get pregnant. My story is the same as yours. I have three children that I conceived naturally, which I had a tubal when my youngest was born. I divorced their father, and remarried my current husband. He has no children. I just turned 40 the 1st of this month. The hardest thing for me during the first IVF was the emotional rollercoaster. The injections and everything else is a breeze. I have support from friends but I have elected not to tell my family just for the mere fact that the less people know, the less I have to explain, etc.,
Your not crazy!!!!!!

Michele welcome to the wonderful rollercoaster of IVF. We also didn't tell a lot ofpeople as i didn't want to do all the explaining and listening to people say how can you afford ivf. Blah Blah. I like you concieved naturally twice had my tubes tied and then a reversal which was not successful. Now ivf--we got pg our first round--actually found out a little over two weeks ago. I wish you the best of luck--and hope you get your bfp right away. Bridget

Hi Michelle,

You've come to the right place for some support. I had my tubes cut 3 years ago. After the horrific birth of my daughter 4 years ago I decided I definately didn't want to go through that again and asked to be sterlised but I found out I was pregnant again (my daughter was only 17 weeks old), I was even taking birth control. I was suffering from post-natal depression and had the sterlisation at the same time as the section. Since I recovered from the pnd we decided we wanted more children. We've always wanted a really large family.

Tubal reversal wasn't an option as they took too much away. We were really lucky that IVF worked the first time. We didn't tell anyone, I didn't want the you already have lovely children why do you want any more, how can you afford it etc. It's a personal choice. I am still elated that it's worked.

I'm really suffering this time round though but I'm not going to complain!

Best of luck to you

Jo

Hi Everyone! My name is also Michelle. I hope I can join in here. We are starting our first IVF cycle now...BCPs, Lupron on the 9th of Oct, stims on the 21st...ER/ET last week of Oct, first week Nov.....and I am very nervous as well!

I have two daughters from a previous marriage and also had a tubal done. I am now remarried and my wonderful husband has no bio children. I am 31 and he is 34.

It looks like Michele and I will only be a few days apart with tx :)

I'm thinking positive thoughts for everyone!

Hi Michele P!
It is nice to see others in a similar situation. I start Lupron on Wednesday and am really nervous. I have my orientation the smae day. Did you do a tubal reversal as well? I think if I am unsuccessful I may consider that. This IVF stuff is a roller coaster. I think I may also transfer 10-29-10/31 accorcing to my RE. How many embryos are you considering? I am 37 but got pregnant really easy 4 times. I think we are going for two, twins would be nice! We'll see. Let's keep in touch! hang in there!

Hey all, I'm a newbie to IVF too and will be starting my Lupron injections on 10/11 so I think we're close in our cycles. I'm very nervous about the injections and EC. My clinic doesn't sedate or use gen anesth. just pain pills when doing the egg aspiration. Does your clinics?

Hi Everyone!

Michele D-No, I have not had the reversal...I didn't want to have the surgery, and then 'waste' time trying for months, and then I also didn't want to go through any ectopics. My doctor is pretty thorough too and figured he removed a good portion from the tubes, making my chances low for natural conception. So we decided on this route. (Didn't want to have to deal with birth control after either) We are putting in two (hopefully  ) I too had no problems getting pregnant with my daughters.

Jovigal-Welcome!! They put you under general anesthesia for the ER at my Re, but not the ET. I've heard it done both ways though.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!!! We're all so close to starting :D

Michele P Update

Post by MidwifeMom »

Michele P,
Did you start your lupron yet? I have done two days and having bad headaches, it sucks! How are things going for you? I also skipped reversal. If this does not work will do reversal, it is covered under my insurance!! I pray this works. I am a nervous wreck! Hoep your doing well.

Hi everyone!!

Michele D-I start Lupron Monday :D I'm sorry to hear about the headaches...I hope they don't last too long (and also hope I don't get them...but most likely will) That's awesome about your insurance covering reversal!!..hopefully it won't be necessary!! I'm staying positive for us :D I'm very nervous and excited too!!!!!!! It should go pretty fast now...can't wait to be in the 2ww.

Enjoy your weekend!

My side effects are lessening. I felt a crampy yesterday and was hoping it was the Lupron bleed, but nothing so far. I have done 6 shots, today is day 7 and they said it is usually 8-12 days I think. I am on 10 units. How are things going for you???

Hi Everyone!

Michele-I am on day three of Lupron and so far so good....Friday is my last day on BCPs, so I'm sure I'll have a normal AF after. I go on the 20th for B/W and Ultrasound to see if I'm ready for the stims. For some reason time seems to be going slower than I expected. I'm glad to hear you are feeling better on the Lupron :D
