HI all,
I've recently discovered this site, and have to say, I love it.
My hubby and I have been trying for eighteen months, you know the story, threw away the pill on the honeymoon and just assumed I would get pregnant straight away...needless to say it didn't happen..We found ourselves at a fertility doctor (lovely), a diagnosis of endometriosis (not so lovely), and a cycle of IVF (also not so lovely). I hyperstimmed and ended up in hospital with internal bleeding and a blood clot, all v.v. scarey, and no little ones to put back in 'cause I was just so sick. We have five frozen embryo's and are currently waiting for my pitruatry gland to kick back in (bloody Synarel is so good at switching it off!!!), if it doesn't, back to my old fiend (not) Clomid.
Am still getting my head around the abbreviations and "Englishism's" (what is a percy pig???), but look forward to lots more contact with this site.
ALl the best!
Belinda
Hi Bel & welcome to the boards.
I am on 2ww at the moment but if you pop in on the OCB thread there are a lot of girls doing treatment in October.
Percy Pigs are yummy sweets made with real fruit juice, they are shaped like pigs, you can also get Percy Pigs & Friends which are sheep & cows & also fizzy ones too!! We get them from Marks & Spencers, Val from USA cant get them either so her husband got her gummy bears instead. Nikola started the craze as she loves chocolate but after ET is best to avoid caffeine so is eating Percy Pigs instead.

Hope some of these abbreviations help & good luck with your treatment

EC=Egg Collection
ET=Embryo Transfer
FET=Frozen Embryo Transfer
AF=Aunty Flow (period)
DH=Dear/darling husband
SCB-September cycle buddies
OCB=October cycle budies (cycle buddies are girls going through treatment at same time)

Sarah
xx
hi belinda

welcome to the mad house! I like Sarah am on 2WW, so can be excused for being slighty mad! I am guilty of starting the percy pigs worldwide craze. I actually look like a Percy Pig right now, cos I've eaten so many over the last four weeks! Its not much substitute for a glass of wine or bar of chocolate but its the best a girl can do!

Fingers crossed for your next cycle. At least this time you'll have lots of people (albeit usually a bit mad or wierd!) to help you and talk to.

Good luck.
love nikola.xx
Hi belinda

Welcome to the site. I too had OHSS and was in hospital for a week on my first cycle in March. Like you I found it very scary and it has taken quite a lot to get me back here but have just started down-regging for second ICSI attempt - unfortunately cos I hyperstimulated so much although we had 27 eggs none of the embies were good enough to freeze. Come and join the October cycle buddies when you start - I had the same problem re the hormones not being right for two months then suddenly, wham, they were ok on Saturday so i got to start. Best of luck for the treatment and remember they will be much more careful monitoring you this time round plus they know more about your reactions to the drugs so it really is unlikely to happen again. beckym xxx
Hey all,
Thanks so much for your responses.
Is lovely to know what a Percy Pig's are, and thank so much for the abbreviation help, was driving me rather insane trying to work them out!
I'll have to visit my local Coles to check out the Percy Pigs situation, when I was holidaying in the UK I fell in love with the "walnut whips" (I think this is what they're called!!), do they still exist?, though I gues they're loaded with caffeine, so may be a no-no.
Will definately link in with the OCB thread thanks for the tip! (just hope that things kick in by then!, am checking out some reflexology sites looking for some hints re. stimulating a pressure point or something), if you hear of a mad Australian woman rubbing a bizarre point between her toes to the point of madness, this could well be me!
Thanks again loves!
B
B

Yep, Walnut whips are still around & they are so yummy!!
No go though at the moment as chocolate means caffeine!!

Sarah
xx

p.s-if Percy Pigs exist in Aus you will have to let us know

Hey chicks,
No percy pigs in Aus I'm afraid!
Lots of fruit chews etc, so won't be left starving of sweet stuff!
Blood testing tomorrow for imminent FET (hopefully), will join the OCB thread.
Thanks for support gals!
B
Hi B
Great to see another Aussie on the site. I am on the OCB's as well. Not quite sure if you are testing today or tomorrow Aust time but I hope everything goes well. When is your FET? I have ET scheduled for next week so we might be one the 2ww together. Good luck!
Kate
Kate,
Fabulous to see another aussie chick here, I test tomorrow morning (why is it always so early in the day!!!), I try to get to the clinic by 7am if I can, then Johnie and I go for breakfast (just to try to make this yucko experience something semi reasonable!) before heading to work. Is terribly isolating really, am very lucky work is so supportive, my boss is a doctor, so I guess that means he is a tad more understanding maybe??
All the very best Kate, please keep in touch and let me know of your progress (still haven't made it to the OCB thread, looks huuuge!!)
B
