Thook - Congratulations that is wonderful news!!!! I am so happy for you and your DH. I pray that we will all be this blessed.
Jeck - Thank you for the prayer and for the update. How are your 18 embies doing?
LeapOfFaith - Good luck today. Let us know how you do.
Charity/JenJ - Let us know how your scans go today. Charity, I am on day 6 also and really don't feel very much. A little twinge now and then but really nothing to speak of. I hope that does not mean that I am not responding well. I have been on 300 units of Follistim from the beginning. You are perfectly normal for buying baby stuff. I have not yet but have been thinking about it.
Jill - I hope your cyst goes away. Try not to worry too much. I had a large cyst this cycle that did not go away and they went in and surgically aspirated it last week and I was able to start my stims two days after so just because you have a cyst does not mean that you can not go foward it just might delay you a few days. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you also.
Rparsons - Let us know how your scan goes today. Good Luck!
Kolo - Welcome to the boards and good luck with your IUI cycle.
Aunty- How are you holding up? I am so sorry that they had to cancel your cycle. Did you ever get to speak with your Dr? Are they going to do anything about the $$$?
I've only been away a couple of days and what a lot of posts to read!!!!
Jeck - congrats on your 18 embies, sounds great!
Thook - congrats on the BFP - fab start to the month!!
Racheal - wonderful to hear about your adoption idea - it's funny how things happen when you least expect them..!
As for the ladies with only a few follies, Jenn and Racheal - when I feel a bit low about my number of follies I think of Louise Brown, the first IVF baby. She was a natural cycle baby, ie. only one naturally produced egg!!! So, proof that it does indeed only take ONE! Also, one of my friends did an IVF cycle with only 3-4 follies and converted to IUI and it worked.. so it is an option....
I went for my second scan today and my 8 follies (biggest 16 mm), may well have turned into 10, as there are a couple of little 'uns that are making a last ditch attempt to catch up. So there you go. It's only been two days between scans and suddenly I might get two more eggs. So it's not all doom and gloom!!! Don't give up. Lots of water, milk and hot water bottles and of course, crossed fingers!
I'm going back on Friday for a final scan, but looks like it's pretty definite EC will be on Monday.
Good luck ladies. Sending you all lots of baby dust.

cmoscar- ER today right? I hope everything goes well. Take care and give us the update when you can!!
Thanks everyone for your kind words yesterday. I still don't know what to do. My DH is calling clinic today to get some questions answered. I just don't have a clear enough head about it ya know? My sister is coming in tonight to stay with me through the weekend. Hopefully we won't get into too much trouble
Here is a question for everyone who has done this: The good eggs that are like the right size and everything...if they fertilise, do they usually make it to the transfer? That is my main concern. I have 3 that are size 19 as of yesterday and then 1-2 that are 13-15(maybe they will grow by Fri. who knows).
I'm worried that I will not have anything left by transfer.
Oh well, I have to go to the grocery or there will be no food for sis and I to eat!!
I can understand your worries. But I don't think that there is a set answer to any of your questions as it does vary from woman to woman. Asking your doc seems a good solution.
In my last cycle I had 15 follies and was expecting lots of eggs. I only got 7, and two of them were post mature. So given I've read c. 90% of follies contain eggs, I was way below that average. At this point we were really downheartened.
However, of our 5 decent eggs, 4 fertilised and all four were of good quality on day 3, so two are waiting in the freezer for us. Now, I wouldn't have said statistics would have predicted that with only 5 decent eggs we'd have got any in the freezer, so I guess we were 'above average' then and our fortunes had changed. So in answer to your question, in our case, 100% of our fertilised eggs made it to transfer. (And I did get pregnant, but sadly lost it)
What I'm trying to say is 'you can never tell'. I think we all have to go with gut feeling. If you've had IUIs before that haven't worked and your heart was set on IVF, maybe you should go through with it. But only you know what you really want to do.
Good luck and remember Louise Brown and the one egg!!!!!

cmoscar wrote:First off, I love your name! Second, I too will be doing my retrieval tomorrow morning. How many follicles do you have? I am very excited and scared too. Good Luck!
Thanks cmoscar! I hope we can be buddies! How did your ER go? I was in severe pain this morning before the ER. I am so glad it's over! I wasn't even nervous anymore, as I just wanted the procedure done so the pain would stop. We only have 7 eggs. The doctor said anything more than 3 is good. I hope so!
I'm not sure when the ET will be. Either Friday, Saturday or Monday.
I want to say thanks to everyone for making me feel very welcome here! I hope I get to know you all. Good luck to everyone!!!
Thanks Bec!!! You really helped me with your story.
Nictor- you're right, there are no clear answers which really sucks!! We are going with our gut!!
DH talked to clinic and they really feel like we should go for it. They were very encouraging. We gotta try right? So Friday it is. I'm keeping everything crossed!! I feel like at least if it doesn't work we will have a lot of questions answered and the dr. will have a good plan for next time now that we know my body reacts to the drugs slowly.
leap of faith-- I'm sorry you were in pain this morning! I hope you feel better! take it easy!
Went to the doc today for my first scan since starting the stims and I have 5 or 6 follicles on each side (10-12 total). They are looking good.
Had to start the Ganarelix and will add Menapur with FOllistim tonight.
Hey Lady's...sorry ive been MIA (sulking)...
Jenn i wanted to give you some hope....i have a friend who was what they call poor responder even on max dose of Gonal f (450 units a day) she only had 4 follies..she was gutted well she had 3 fertilize and she was told they where really bad quality lots of fragmenting and not to bother with transfer to try again she insisted on transfering them anyway and now she has twin beautiful just turned 1 year old daughters...so never give up our little fraggies can amaze and love to prove Dr's wrong too....we will all be praying for your little ones...

TASHA-CONGRATULATIONS!! I am so happy for you and your DH and I wish you a very happy and healthy 9 months!!
Hope everyone is doing well-isn't it great to see a BFP paving the way for all of us?!?
I went for my scan today-I have 5 follicles on each side, 10 total. There are also a couple of stragglers too so we'll see what happens. I go back on Friday and they are estimating ER for Sunday or Monday.
A question-I am still taking Lupron every night in addition to my stims in order to keep my ovaries from overproducing. Is this standard? Are you guys doing this too? Just wondered. I had kind of hoped for higher follicle count (like in the teens or so) but they said that Lupron keeps everything from getting too active as apparently I am at a somewhat high risk to get OHSS.
Best wishes to all!

JenJ - I am continuing to take Lupron along with my stims. They just lowered the dosage from 20 units to 10. They told me it will help all the follicles grow at the same rate and ensure that I do not ovulate too early. I think this is the normal protocol but I am not sure. 10 sounds like a great number to me. I go tomorrow for my scan I hope I am as lucky as you.
How are all of you girls doing on the 2ww? Hopefully I have started an epidemic and you'll all get BFP's this month!
Cmoscar & Leap.of.faith- did you girls have your EC's yet? How many did they get?
Good luck to everyone else doing EC this week... sending plenty of embie food your way.
Jeck- that was a beautiful poem... thanks for passing it along.
Jill- sorry to hear about your cyst, hopefully it either goes away or they can remove it and you can continue with your cycle.
Kolo- welcome to the boards... these girls are wonderful!
Jen J- that's exactly what I did (Lupron 5 units & stims per night). I think that is very common. The Lupron is to make sure you don't ovulate to early. This is very common... good luck!
I just wanted to say thank you for all the kind words and well wishes on our BFP. I'm wishing and praying that this is the first of many BFP's for this month. All of you girls have been wonderful and you all deserve beautiful bundles of joy.
