Adminsitering Progesterone Shots

Post by Paigep »

I got a rash from the progesterone shots. My nurse said my husband was doing them in the wrong place, that they should be higher up on the hip. We are still confused as to where exactly they shoudl be administered. Does anyone have any insight in this issue?

Thanks so much.

Have your nurse give you a visual?

I haven't yet done these shots yet, but with my HCG shot I had my nurse draw X's where the shot was suppose to go. It gave me more of a visual, and I still can remember where it went, which is the same place she said the progesterone shots go. Best of luck.

First, you could be having a reaction to the oil that the progesterone is suspended in... As far as where it should go...the way it was described to me when we started our shots was to think about your butt cheak as an oval split up into 4 quarters... on the right side the shot should go in the top right quarter...on the left side on the top left quarter. Good luck. Take care, KAW

I started the progesterone last night. The nurse told us yesterday that if there is oil on the outside of the needle, it may cause a rash.

I had the nurse draw a circle on my butt with a marker and we would trace over it when it started to fade.
