I am 29 and have been trying to conceive for the past 3 years. My doctor prescribed Clomid as I do not ovulate every month. I have also recently visited the fertility clinic and had a laposcopy - which came back with mild emno. I am now back on Clomid for 3 months until my next visit to the clinic. This cycle has lasted 37 days and was very mild (not normal). I was so hopefull - I took a test and it was negative!! I am due to take the next batch of Clomid today - but I don't want too if there is a possibility of being pregnant! Has anyone else had the same experiences with Clomid?? If the Clomid at 100mg is not successful the clinic has suggested IUI which for 3 cycle costs £1700.00 - does anyone know if this costing is correct?
I feel extremely fedup at present and it gets worse every month - does anyone have any positive outcomes from Clomid or IUI??
Hi Jane
I have mild Endo and took Clomid for 10 months I concieved but miscarried early on, I have had one failed IVF and they think I have mild PCOS as I have poor embryo quality. I missed a period altogether whilst on Clomid and also had one come a week early so you may experience fluctuations in your cycle. I'm due to start IUI this week with clomid and injections of gonal F my treatment is costing £800 a go so that figure of £1700 looks pretty good! try and stay positive only you know your own body what's your gut instinct any feeling of pregnancy?? if your really not happy taking the clomid wait for your next period and take it then. The best thing is that your comfortable with your decision.
Hope this helps good luck and talk soon
Aly

Hi Jane

Some one I know took Clomid and got pregnant from it so it can work, though not necessarily the first month. I think it happened for her the second or third month. good luck! beckym xx
Hi Jane,

I also got pregnant on Clomid, but sadly miscarried. A Friend from work also took Clomid and on her 5th cycle got pregnant and had a little girl in April, so it certainly can work.

Aly, you sound very similar to me. I have mild endo and "probably" PCOS with poor egg quality on my first IVF, but on my second got 29 eggs!! 18 fertilized and we got 9 to blastos, so it is certainly possible to get good eggs - good luck with your treatment.

Unfortunately I have had 5 cycles and none of the blastos have wanted to stick, so I am off for more tests (hurrah). I am wondering whether I have those NK cells I have been reading about. I can't decide if I want them or not!! Sounds mad I know but if I have it may be the reason why they are not implanting, and maybe they can do something about it. Oh well, I will find out soon.

Karen
Jane,

I also took clomid for about 9 months but nothing? I do however know of someone who got pg using it. Similarly with iui I had 3 tmts but none were successful then a girl at work went to the same clinic and got pg on her 1st attempt and has a lovely baby boy. So it does happen, even though it didn't work for me I was glad to hear of someone who was successful.

I've almost completed my 2nd ivf, I test tomorrow but have started bleeding today so not holding out much hope. Not long 'til I find out now though.

Good luck with your tmt, we have to hold onto our dreams,

Love

Claire
-x-
