Confusion after follow-up appointment

Post by Dolly »

Hi there, I really need some advice - I had my followup appointment on Friday after a failed first attempt at IVF in July. Firstly the Consultant advised me that they would like you to have 3 AFs before starting again (I have had 2 - the second being 3 weeks late).

I had just agreed to wait another month and I asked him to confirm that I had reached the top of the waiting list and our next treatment would be funded by the NHS. He went off to check and when he came back he said "now I am going to put a spanner in the works"..... apparently they have to get their books in by the end of November and all NHS funded treatments have to be finished by November so if I wait another month I won't be able to get funding until the new financial year in April! The Consultant then said that I could start treatment now...

I AM SO CONFUSED.. I have to let the hospital know my decision today - do I go ahead and start now even though he initially didn't recommend it. If it doesn't work will I always wonder "what if I had waited"....

I would really appreciate your thoughts.

Dolly

Confusion after follow-up appointment

poor you Dolly,

If its any help I had a fresh ICSI cycle in May but due to OHSS did not have ET.

I was only told to wait 2 AFS.

I bled a week after EC and was told this was not a proper AF & then had 1 proper AF(which was 2 weeks late) and then started FET. Am on 2ww now.
So I only really had 1 proper AF.........I did not question the clinic just took it they KNow what they are about.....

I just think different clinics have different protocols. You sound like me, I assume 1st was just after tmt.....

Its totally up to you but I would say go for it girl, it seems you are back to normal now . Why not ring another clinic and ask their opinion/protocol
keep us posted
Sarah
xx

Hi Dolly,
You must be feeling pretty mixed up!
I think the 3 month rule is just to allow your body to get back to normal but its not written in tablets of stone.
I'd, like Sarah would go for it rather than wait if you feel up to it!
Good luck with whatever dicision you make and keep us posted.
Di

Hi Dolly

Poor you, they don't make things easy for us, do they! I was advised to wait two AFs before having another go, but I know others who have only waited one. So I guess different clinics say different things. I'd go for it, otherwise its a long old wait until April!

Good luck

love nikola.xx

hi dolly,
like everyone else has said, different clincs work it different ways.
my clinic say 2 including the af directly after tmt.
if I were in your shoes, I would go for it now!
if the consultant wasnt happy , he would still have advised to wait.
its not easy for you but the afs they like you to have is just to allow your body a chance to go back to normal.
tkae care dolly
kathryn
x
