Hi Mia - I have an update and I may be able to join you all after all!

AF officially arrived (finally  )...on Sunday. So, that means we can start another cycle. I'd start the BCPs on Wednesday and stims in November. The ER/ET would be the week of Thanksgiving, though. My nurse said she talked with the RE and he is fine with it - he says he can avoid ET on the actual Thanksgiving holiday - it would probably be the day before or after. But it means we wouldn't be able to travel up to Northern CA to be with family. And...therefore, it also means telling everyone why we're not coming. We had considered not telling anyone this time, just because of the added stress of everyone else. Also, I was wondering 'what if' the best day for transfer was Thanksgiving day, but they transfer early/late just to avoid the holiday? Have we paid all the $$$ and taken all the drugs for nothing?

Is anyone else dealing with ER/ET around the Thanksgiving holiday and what, if anything, did your RE say about it?

I'm still toasting everyone (with sparkling cider, now) for lots of BFPs in November!

suzhan,

I have not received an official start date yet, but feel that I may be coming close to the Thanksgiving time. That would make me a little bit nervous too because we all want the best timing in order to give us the best chances of success. I would assume that your doctor would not risk having the best possible chance though?? You need to do what makes you feel the most comfortable. I know that we all are anxious to get started...

Hope everything works out perfectly for you!!!

I haven't checked this board for several days.... Wow ....so many posts.
As far as perfect time for IVF, there is not such a thing. There is always something. I thought I had everything "planned" but got a cyst and had to wait another month. So I thought, ok, it will give me some time to take care of myself and my DH's health. Guess what happened? We both got sick and had fever. I know that it takes about 3 months for men to generate fresh sperm and fever kills sperm. We have male factor, so it's very important for us to do everything we can to get good quantity/quality. On the top of that my husband has been taking his son to football practice/games and it's 90F outside - also not good for the sperm. I decided to go for IVF no matter what because I know there will be always something. I'll just hope we get lucky this time.
I'm so glad to see so many people here to support each other.
xoxoxo
Let's have a list with all BFP on it!

suzhan, I'm glad your AF finally arrived. I was going crazy waiting for mine.

Hi Everyone,

Wow, once a day is just not enough to check these boards! so much happens on them all at once and I get lost again, I will try and keep up so bear with me!

Jeck - Hope you 2ww is not too stressfull! I have my fingers crossed for you and am sending you lots of baby dust!

MB'A - My appt is next wednesday and it just feels like an eternity away! it is complete torture! I just want to know if I can start or not!! I am also hoping that my ovaries sre empty and ready for a fresh cycle! Fingers crossed for us both!

Tonia & Jovigal - Thanks for the well wishes about my back, I am now having Physiotherapy and so hope it should be better soon!
Good luck to you both for starting your Lupron tomorrow!

Erin - Taking a day off from this board is deffinatley very difficult when you get back, things are starting to move faster now and so it is getting even busier! Good luck with your appt on wednesday!

Sarah V - Welcome to this thread, it is a great place here to make you feel sane again, no matter how much people try to understand what we are going through and no matter how much they try to be there for us, no one can trully understand how we feel as much as the people on this forum do! Good luck in your cycle and it is great to be sharing the journey with you!

Mia - I am still trying to do this AF dance for you, I hope it comes real soon!

Suzhan - It is great to see you back with the possibility to starting with us,
It must be difficult to try and make that descision, I am from the UK and so we don't celebrate Thanksgiving!
I would think that if your RE believes that it will be fine to have the transfer around that date then I am sure he would not do anything that would lessen your chances of a successful transfer! but as you said there are also other things to consider!
It is difficult because sometimes our judgement is clouded over by the fact that we just want to start ASAP, which is why I am sure that your RE's opinion would be least bias!!
Good luck with whatever you decide and keep intouch to keep us updated!

Lots and lots of luck once again to everyone else, hope all your cycles are going well or your waiting is not as much torture as mine feels!

Take Care

Question

When you take lupron do you have to take it at the same time every day or does it not matter. Please let me know.

Thank's,

Kristin

jamieandduane i am scared too. We just have to take it one day at a time and try not to stress over it. This is my first cycle as well. I have so many fears. I feel better if I focus on one thing at a time.

I am not sure about Lupron, but they usually want you to take medications around the same time everyday.

I'm worried about that because we are supposed to visit friends overnight and there is no way I would be able to take it at the same time one day. I wonder if a few hrs will make any difference. I will ask my Dr on Thursday. Also another question. I have my orientation apt this Thursday. They are doing a practice ET. They told me I have to go in with a full bladder. If I drink a bottle of water 1 hr before I go will that be fine do you all think? Also why are they doing a practice ET on me? Thank's ladies.

Kristin,

All great ?'s !!

I doubt a few hours will make a huge difference... just keep it as consistent as possible (although verify w/ Dr. to make sure)

A practice ET is a very good thing. They measure the depth of where they will be placing the eggs during the ET. That way they know exactly how far to go on the big day!!! Trust me, when the did my mock ET, they realized how awkward my placement would be, and they told me to have a VERY full bladder on day of transfer...good things to know before the actual day.

I drank 1 water bottle before mine, and they wished I had done more...but that was for my situation. A full bladder is actually usually more than a regualar water bottle...???but if you are not sure what they want, call and ask what they think is good.

Hope all goes well on Thursday 8) !!! The best of luck.

So much has happened in here since I last checked in. That will teach me to stay away so long! I hope everyone is well and getting ready venture on this journey together. :)

I had my follow up and my RE really helped us to stay hopeful! I feel excited, but guarded as I don't want to experience another BFN. I'll be checking in more regularly.....Take care!
